Digit-al Dozen Does Spooky Days; Day 5

Happy Halloween!  Tonight is the night for all the ghosts and goblins to go trick or treating; I thought I'd do a Halloween mani along those lines for Day 5 of Digit-al Dozen Spooky Days; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (white), FingerPaints Black Expressionism (black) and Sally Hansen Insta-dri Pumpkin Queen (orange).  Added topcoat.  No pix as all colours have been shown before and this post is going to be picture heavy as it is!

Stamped using assortment of images from MoYou Landscape Collection-06 (thumb), Lilic's A09 (middle ghost), Infinity 35 (middle mummy), HD-H (pinky and pumpkin on ring), HD-C (trick or treat on ring) and HD-G (index).  Stamping polishes used were Konad black and Mundoe de Unas 11 and 28.

Added a few bats and the moon from BFF 07 and did some touch ups on ring finger of the stamping on the trick or treat words (the words blobbed more than I'd like; not sure if its from deep etching or the Mundo polish smearing).

Added a few dots for filler and colour interest.

Top coated to finish.  I had thought about doing a black jelly wash over the thumb to mimic night time but didn't want to wreck it; I might try it before I take it off just to see how it looks.  But for now, this is how it is on my nails when the trick or treaters visit!

Digit-al Dozen Does Spooky Days; Day 4

Spiders are scary, right?  How about a few of them for Day 4 of Digit-al Dozen Spooky Days week!

Started with a base of Smitten Polish Cauldron Bubble with an accent of Smitten Polish Fire Burn; both two coats, no topcoat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Different lighting; can see the sparkle better.

Stamped spiderwebs using CND Silver Chrome with an image from Chez Halloween 001, with spider accent from same plate but using black FUN stamping polish.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Spooky Days; Day 3

With Halloween just a short two days away, I went out and picked up candy for the trick or treaters today.  I went on October 31st last year to buy but had to go to several places to get any as everywhere was sold out.  Not to mention it was so expensive as I had to buy small quantities of whatever was on hand versus the bulk packs of chocolate bars and chips like normal.  I learned my lesson so I'm stocked up and ready for the kids on Friday night!  My daughter also carved two pumpkins last night so we are good to go!  Anyway, here's my Spooky Days Day 3 mani!

Started with a base of two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-dri Pumpkin Queen**.

Added a layer of Sally Hansen Big Crackle Top Coat** for some traditional Halloween colouring.

I haven't used crackle topcoat in a while so I did my left and right hand a little different.  My left hand, I applied it fairly think on top of polish that was already top coated.

On my right, I applied it more on the thin side and on top of polish that hadn't been top coated just to see if it would crackle different and if it mattered if topcoat was added to the base or not.  Turns out, topcoat on polish base or not doesn't seem to matter.  The application was good on either base and there was good crackle too.  The heavier handed polish had wider crackles and the thinner one less, but overall, either provided good crackle; the polish wasn't finicky at all.

Top coated.  I really liked how this looked; would be a cool  look for Halloween nails without too much effort. These Sally Hansen products are limited edition and are available at various retailers now.

But of course, I had to add some stamping. Used images from Sugar Bubbles 008 (pinky) Chez Halloween 002 (ring), MJ JR-22 (middle) and BM-H07 (index and middle) using white Konad special polish and Mundo de Unas 11.

Top coated to finish.  I liked how this turned out; a little creepier (ahem, Spookier!) than the other Halloween nails I've done, lots of colour and interest.  A little on the busy side but that's pretty typical of some of my theme mani's!  I have a feeling this might be pretty cool with matte topcoat (which I might try tonight as it's on my nails right now!)

Digit-al Dozen Does Spooky Days; Day 2

I don't think a Spooky Days week of Halloween mani's would be complete without a glow in the dark mani; here's one I'm sharing for Day 2....even though it's not overly spooky!

Started with a base of two coats of Girly Bits Supersonic; no top coat.

Layered three coats of Sally Hansen Glow in the Dark on top of Supersonic.

Two coats had good glow in the dark in real life but faded fast when I was trying to take pix so a third made it glow just a little brighter and longer to pick up in pix. (WTF Blogging Problems, I know lol!)

I couldn't remember if top coat affects the glow (it doesn't), so waited 15ish minutes before stamping as there's a good 7 layers of treatments and polish on my nails at this point.  I was using a marshmallow stamper and because you don't press down as hard for stamping, I find it doesn't smoosh as much as with a Konad where more pressure if applied so can stamp sooner without waiting.  So I find anyway.  So didn't have to wait as long as I generally would have given that no quick dry top coat.

Used Konad black special polish with images from MoYou Festive 16.

I thought I was going to use these plates so took pix of them, but as it turns out, didn't use them after all.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Discovered that the glow in the dark still works with top coat on top!  Hopefully I'll remember this for next time!
