Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns; Day 3

It's day 3 of Digit-al Dozen pattern challenge  (I'm late, I'm sorry but life is just so busy!)!  I just did these nails a couple days ago; I thought I had done the mani's for the challenge (and I have!) but I liked these nails just a little better than another so decided to share now instead of another one!  The other Digit-al Dozen ladies are so talented; I have to try to bring my best mani's to try to keep up lol!  Anyway, here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Essie All Over The Wave, no top coat.

Topped with a coat of Different Dimension Envy, part of the newly released 7 Deadly Sins collection.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from Apipila Super Placa A using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Decided to add a few dots for colour and interest, added them using Painted Polish Stamped in Starfruit.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Colours; Day 3

I'm a little late with sharing these nails but have had a couple wild and crazy days!  So this is a perfect time to share these wild and crazy nails for day 3 of the Digit-al Dozen colours challenge!  Here's what I came up with!

I wanted some bright and colourful nails so picked out these Potion Polishes:  High Roller, Lava Lamp, Punch Buggy, Celebration, On the List and V.I.P. Pass.

Did a stamper smooshy base.  I was surprised based on the colours that I had picked that the base wasn't brighter, but with smooshy stamper art, you take it as it falls lol.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from Apipila Super Placa A using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

While I really loved how this turned out, I also thought it would be the perfect mani to matte. So the next day, topped with a coat of My Indie Polish My Perfect Matte.  I love how it turned out too; I couldn't decide which I liked better!

Digit-al Dozen Does Mythical Creatures; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week and this month's challenge is Mythical Creatures.  When I sat down to do this mani, I knew the image I wanted to use and the plan was that this would be Lock Ness Monster-ish for mythical creatures.  When I actually looked at the image, it was cuter than the pictures I've seen of the Lock Ness Monster but I still wanted to use it so this is more Caribbean Sea Monster than Lock Ness Monster.  But maybe this guy has been seen off the shore of Jamaica or Bahama's, who knows!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI The I's Have It.

Did a sponged gradient using OPI The I's Have It, Morgan Taylor Don't Touch Me, I'm Radioactive and Morgan Taylor Deja Blue.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Made stamper decals using images from Apipila Super Place A.  Image outline is Painted Polish Stamped in Greenery, and filled in with MdU 11 and 13.

Added CND Creative Play Express Ur Em-oceans at the tips to mimic glistening water.

Stamped thumb using Infinity 75 (sun) and Infinity 52 using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Stamped on ring using same image from Infinity 52.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does (5 Days, 5) Continents; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  Our theme this month is to do 5 days of different continents and for day 1, I did a mani based on Africa; here's what I came up with!

Unfortunately, I wasn't very creative and decided to go with a mani similar to one I've already done here...and countless others out there like it.  So to make it just a little different, I decided to do a different base versus sponging by using an image from FUN 24 to create the gradient.  I had already used the same image from Lina (I don't think I've posted the mani yet) but didn't have that great of success with it, so was hoping I'd have better luck.  I also chose this method as I had maybe 30 minutes to pop off this mani as I had gotten up early to do a few chores before work and thought I had allowed enough time to do nails but only had a limited amount of time....but thought I was good anyway as it doesn't take that long to do these type of bases.

Anywayyyyy, I did a gradient base using MdU 51, 53, 66 and Moyra SP.02.  I did the thumb first and was pretty happy with it off the bat.  Then had varying degrees of success and I probably scraped about 20 times just to get these 5 nails.  More practise is needed apparently!  I wasn't that happy with the middle finger and actually stamped on top of the first try, thinking that it would just blend in once stamped.  If only they could all look like the ring finger, which I think turned out pretty near perfect!

FUN 24

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using Apipila Super Placa A using MdU 2.  Due to time restraints, I didn't have time to find a flying bird image so just used a brush and painted some in to fill bare spots.  Same for the ring finger; only half the tree stamped and I filled in as necessary!

Topped using KBShimmer Clearly on top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art; Day 2

For the art challenge, I did some looking at Pinterest for inspiration.  I came across a painting and came up with these nails based upon it!

This is the painting!

Started with three coats of Barry M Prickly Pear.

Did random dry brushing with Zoya Mira.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added a few dots using Mdu 33, 54 and 67 using an image from UberChic UC Lovely Leaves.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added birds using Apipila Super Placa A and lines from FUN 7 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  Do not ask how hard it was to stamp each finger so the lines lined up....even with clear stamper, it was hard!

Full hand.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Digit-al Dozen Does Colour Contrasts; Day 3

For Day 3 of the colour contrast challenge, I decided on purple and yellow.  I sooo resisted this colour combination because it is seriously one of my least favourite colour combos...and it always reminded me of high school and the the terrible, terrible school gym clothes we had to wear as these were our school colours....a bright yellow, Big Bird t-shirt and ill fitting, uni-sex purple shorts.  Not pretty, that's for sure!

But, believe it or not, what you are actually seeing is purple and yellow polish for Day 3 of colour contrast; but when you mix purple and yellow you get some shades leaning brown which this mani has hints of lol! That would be called a water marble fail but hey, I tried!

Just to prove I really was using yellow and purple polishes, I took a pix of my water marble.  But even here, you can see where the purple runs to brown/rust like hues.

For the water marble, I used Pipe Dream Polish Harlequin, Punch Buggy and Prism Drops.  I was not very successful in my attempt though.

Not one to back down though in the face of a fail, I continued on so topped everything off with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using an image from Apipila Super Placa A using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Topped it off with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I actually thought the end result turned OK; stamping always makes the mani better!  There are some hits of a success here in the pinky and thumb but room for improvement, that's for sure!  Someday...hopefully!

Hello, Fall!

Hello, fall!  This morning was the official arrival of fall so I thought I would share something fall appropriate, even though I pretty much wear whatever I want anytime I want anyway!  (Well, except holiday themed mani's outside of the holiday!)  Here's what I came up with!

Started with two coats of Pahlish Pumpkin Cream Puffs, shown with no top coat.

Stamped using Apipila Super Placa A using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  Even though I used the Girly Bits clear stamper here for placement, still not 100%.  There's always one finger, sometimes more, that gets stamped crooked or not centered!

I wanted to jazz this up a little so looked through my rhinestones to see if I had anything that might go along with it; I found these amber stones that I think worked out well.

Topped everything off with a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

I'm looking forward to doing some fall mani's!  For whatever reason, I'm really into funky, fugly colours right now so it will be interesting what I put on my nails over the next little while!
