Digit-al Dozen REDOES Fashion; Day 2

I'm late for day 2 of Digit-al Dozen REDOES fashion (what else is new); summer is very busy for me (as you may tell from my lack of posts) and even though I have nails done, just no time to get the post done.  I was going to share these nails later in the week because they are one of my least favourite nails (ever!) but when I was looking at what I had ready to post, I wasn't terribly happy with them either.  So these have moved ahead by a few days to give me some time to do better fashion nails (hopefully!).  Here's what I came up with!

For my fashion inspiration, I was surfing the net on Monday night getting caught up on world events, and there was an article about who was wearing what at Wimbledon recently.  One of the outfits that Pippa Middleton was wearing caught my eye and it became the inspiration for my day 2 nails.  This is Pippa Middleton at Wimbledon 2016; photo credit PopSugar

Started with a base of two coats of Zoya Kristen, shown with no top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

While I had initially planned to use an image from MoYou Illusion Collection-06 for this mani, it just wasn't big enough to fit my nails so ended up using Big SdP I instead (stamped on an angle), stamping with MdU 13.

Does anyone else have this happen when using their clear stamper?  The design gets etched into the stamper! This is how the clear stamper that I had disintegrate a few weeks ago started and my fear is all my clear stampers are going to do this!  This is a DRK head.

Different Dimension Pluto Is Still A Planet To Me

Today, I have mani featuring Different Dimension Pluto is Still a Planet to Me.  I adore this polish; to me, it is a perfect blue with the added bonus of gold shimmer!  I would love to find this polish shade in a creme; as much as I love this polish with the addition of the shimmer, I would like a bottle of the base like it without.  If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know! Here's what I came up with.

Started with a base of two coats of Different Dimension Pluto is Still a Planet to Me.

Different angle; can see golden shimmer better.  *Swoon*

Added a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with an image from Big SdP I using white Konad special polish.  I've had my eye on this image in like.....forever.  I adore the image but I have to admit, it does intimidate me; it's one of those images that is unforgiving....don't get it right, and it's going to be very, very obvious.  I also thought it would look best with a certain shade of polish and Different Dimensions Pluto is Still a Planet is just that certain polish.

I did have a certain challenge with this image; you may see that there is just no way I could stamp this image on my pinky as the star burst is too wide and none of the stripes would be visible making it a little awkward.  So I turned the image sideways and used it as an accent on the pinky and ring.

I really like how this looks....but for some added interest, added an iridescent glitter on each nail.

Added a coat of KBShimmer to finish.

I love how this turned out!

A-England Excalibur Renaissance and Hurt No Living Thing

I apologize for the unexpected hiatus; I had hoped to get this post up much sooner than now as I've had these nails done for a couple weeks and uploaded the pix a week ago; just hadn't finish the post. Hopefully, I'll have some time this week to do a few posts and next week is the start of the Digit-al Dozen challenge so the plan is that there will be a few more posts coming up soon!

Here's a couple mani's highlighting A-England polishes that were sent to me from Nail Polish Canada to review.

The first is A-England Hurt No Living Thing.

A-England Hurt No Living Thing has a slightly tinted base with beautiful pink shimmer.  As Hurt No Living Thing is fairly sheer (and I'm sure you don't want to see my stained nails!), I layered one coat over Quo by Orly Runway Ready.

Different lighting; the shimmer is more obvious.  (This lighting, the polish is more accurate; but always give me lobster hands!)

Stamped using Lily Anna 08 using Mundo de Unas 20 stamping polish, which I chose to compliment the shimmer in Hurt No Living Thing.

Top coated to finish.  Feel free to click on the pix to see the shimmer from A-England Hurt No Living Thing!

A-England Excalibur Renaissance was also sent for review.  This is one coat, no topcoat....aka, perfect in those situations when you need a quick mani change! There were no application issues; one coat had great coverage and it dried fast as the case with most polishes with this metallic finishes. And while the pix look a little brush strokey, it wasn't nearly as obvious in real life.

Stamped using Konad black special polish using assortment of images from plates Big SdP C-2 (thumb, ring and pinky), Big SdP O (index) and Big SdP I (middle).  Unfortunately, cleanup isn't the best....I have been using other black polishes for stamping and forgot how bad Konad is to clean up.  It's not too bad here the next day, but still could be better.

A-England polishes are available here at Nail Polish Canada**.

My Lame Attempt to Dupe A England Saint George

Another mani from the archives...I haven't done my nails in three days now...and there's no stamping on my fingers either to be honest....I'll explain that soon....anyway, when A England released their The Legends collex, I thought, hmm.... I don't need to BUY them...I'll just attempt some layering to re-create them. So this is my lame attempt of Saint George after I stamped it.

Started with a base of two coats of Essie Going Incognito.

Layered with a coat of OPI Standing Room Only.....but it was way too much holo.  Not that I'm complaining.  LOVE holo!  But unfortunately it wasn't even close in my attempt to recreate A England Saint George, which was the whole intent of doing this mani. If you have Saint George, you'll know this.  (After I did this mani, I  bought Saint George...if you don't have it, just take my word its not even close! lol!)

Then I thought I couldn't let all those rainbows go to waste..so stamped some rainbows using Konad black special polish with Big SdP I.

Then topped with a coat of SV.  Unfortunately, SV killed the holo a bit if you compare it to the first pix which was with SV, but it sharpened the black stamping.

Hope you're having a great weekend!  Thanks for looking!

Another Valentine's Mani

Are you sick of them yet? lol!

Started with a base of Duri Taming of the Shrew. Seems to be my go-to red base of late.

Added a coat of Essie Ruby Slippers for accent nail.

Stamped! Used white Konad special polish using SdP D04 on thumb, Big SdP I on index, Lilic A02 on middle, CH29 on ring finger and QA18 on pinky. Also added a couple isolated hearts from the QA18 plate over top of the cute couple.

I received these Lilic A01 and A02 plates earlier in the week...aren't they cute?

Finished the mani by topping with SV.

Thanks to SarahLouise over at Spellbinding Nails for the heads up about these plates. I purchased these plates here. **

Hope you're having a great weekend...thanks for looking!

**Please note that I paid the invoiced amount in full for my plates. Are White and Skittles OK After Labour Day?

After the last 3...or is it 4 or 5? dark manis, I thought I had better break out some brighter colours...and colourful this is!

Starting at the thumb and going left to right, colours used are: OPI Purple with a Purpose, Misa Hanging With the Girls, OPI No Room for the Blues, OPI Jade is the New Black, and OPI Don't Know...Beets Me! All are two coats. The Misa yellow polish, I could have done a third just to even it out a bit, but knew I was going to stamp over it so left it at two.

Not exactly neon skittles or anything and somewhat darker, subdued skittles for fall (except that yellow which looks really bright!)....but is there such a thing as subdued skittles? :) Maybe pastel skittles, but I don't think this would qualify as subdued lol! In fact, these skittles got a lot of attention when I was out and about doing errands this morning. Everyone loved it and I got a lot of compliments on it....and I think I may have turned a few gals onto stamping who were facinated with what was on my nails! It was kinda odd being at the teller in not one but two banks telling several ladies gathered around the booth the basic concept of what is stamping and how to do it, where to buy supplies locally and online, answering all their questions, giving them names to google, you tube etc etc. Not the first time I've done this either....my nails are a travelling billboard for stamping! lol!

Stamped with Konad white special polish using Big Sdp I plate.

After I did the stamping, I thought it lacked something.....and while I really wanted to stamp an image over top of this in a solid image in a colour like black, at 1:40 am when doing my nails last night (correction, this morning!) , I guess the creative side of my brain was already asleep so I ultimately decided to add a coat of Cover Girl Goddess which happen to be sitting out at my nail station.

Thank you to a awesome swap pal for introducing this great polish into my life as it's a perfect holo glitter when you want a little holo sparkle, but not too much.

I'm not sure if I'll have another post before my birthday giveaway ends on October 1st so last call to go here if you want to check it out! And thank you again to everyone who has commented on the form...I've been reading them all and your feedback is appreciated!

Misa Working Hard or Hardly Working...Does it Work for You?

I just realized that my last few mani's have been on the dark side...black sparkle, grey/black matte, dark purple sparkle and now grey. When I did some of these mani's, there was some beautiful sunny weather so it's not like the weather is dictating what's on my nails. It just seems that these are the colours that my eye is gravitating to lately so I hope these dark mani's aren't boring you!

This is the mani I did a couple nights ago. Base is Misa Working Hard or Hardly Working; two coats.

While this grey is a good neutral base for stamping and I would consider using it again, I had a hard time managing the brush for the application. I'm surmising I just got a bottle with a bad brush as I've used Misa polishes several times before and never had a problem.

Stamped with Konad black and white special polishes using IP Big SdP I.

Just to be a little different, added LA Girl Glitter Addict Uninhibited on the thumb. This is one of the polishes included as part of my current giveaway here.

Just before topping the mani off with SV, added accent dots using the black and white special polish.

Here's a rare pix of my right hand. Just thought I'd share as its a slightly different look.

So does this mani work for you? lol! It does for me!

It's getting down to the wire for my giveaway which ends on October 1st. If you're interested in checking it out, please go here!

Birthday Giveaway!

***GIVEAWAY CLOSED***

Thanks everyone for your well wishes on my birthday last week!

I mentioned that I was going to have a Birthday Giveaway in my last post; this is my current mani using one of the polishes** that's part of the giveaway.

Orly La Playa, topped Nicole by OPI Top of My World (part of giveaway); stamped using Nicole by OPI Give me the Moon using fauxnad Big SdP I. (Feel free to click on any image to see layering better.)

Here's mani in progress...two coats of Orly La Playa.

Topped with one coat Nicole by OPI Top Of My World.

Then stamped with Nicole by OPI Give Me The Moon. I was away for the weekend and didn't have my usual go-to silver stamping polish with me. So I went into town to see what I could use for a silver stamping polish and seen another Bieb's polish, Nicole by OPI Give Me The Moon, that I thought would work so picked it up. I was pleasantly surprised at the results...it stamped pretty decently and had a nice glow-y finish to it, versus the plain metallic of my regular silver stamping polish, Nicole by OPI Positive Energy. The image is from Big SdP I, one of the new plates I got last week.

Just to show a little bit more of the versatility of Nicole by OPI Top Of My World, I put one coat of Icing Frost Yourself on my right hand (please overlook the poor polish application and cleanup!). Kinda cool to see the silver sparkle along with the dark and light blue from Top of My World.

Now the giveaway details!

First of all, a huge thank you to anyone who is already following my little blog already! I started blogging a little over a year ago, just to keep track of my stamping mani's one by one. Not too long after, there were 100 followers, then 300. Around the time of my last giveaway ending, my little blog had around 500 followers; give or take a few. Some followers dropped off here and there in between but over 100followers starting following after my last giveaway; it was fantastic to see followers following just because they wanted to see whats on my nails on any given day! After it was too late to do a giveaway for my one year blogeversary which passed before I realized it, I decided that my next giveaway would be tied into my birthday mani...and here it is!

I've decided to do things a little different this giveaway and have a poll or ballot of sorts versus just leaving a comment as my giveaways have been in the past. This way you can decide how you want your votes to count for whatever prize versus arbitrarily getting x prize when your name is drawn as in my past giveaways.

Please note that this giveaway will be open until Sunday, October 1, 2011; and is open internationally. Once all the results have been tallied, they will be drawn at random, emails will be sent to those who had their name drawn and they will have 48 hours to reply. Should a reply not be received, another name will be drawn for the prize.

The rest of the info is in the form below; hopefully I've covered everything!

Here's the polishes in the giveaway:

Prize #1: Three Nicole by OPI's, left to right: Coral Denominator, Top of My World, Canadian Star.

Top of My World is very cool for layering as hopefully you can see in the pix. I did a mani using Coral Denominator a while back here. These Bieber Nicole by OPI's are *suppose* to be Canadian exclusive, but I've read that the mini of them are in Walmart stores in US. Can't say for sure that they are or not, but none the less, they sure are pretty!

Edit: I've recently used Nicole by OPI Canadian Star in a mani; you can check it out here.

Edit: I've again used Nicole by OPI Top of My World here.

Prize #2: Three Icing Polishes, left to right: Rock Star from Mars, Tiger's Blood and Epic Winning.

These are those *Charlie Sheen* polishes from a few months ago; I did a mani here using Epic Winning.

Prize #3: Three LA Girls Glitter Addict polishes; left to right: Uninhibited, Animate and Explosion.

I've yet to do a mani with these but based upon mani's and swatches I've seen on the blogesphere, these LA Girls Glitter Addict polishes are some very cool glitter! These were my 3 faves from the collex (the black glitter is amazing....IMHO!! I can't believe I haven't layered with it yet...so many polishes, too little time I guess!)

Update: I've done a mani here using Uninhibited.

Prize #4: Three Oops! Jealous, left to right: T08, T13, T06.

T08 is in a taupe-like base, T13 is in a pink/rose base, T06 is in an aqua marine base. I may have to update this once I've done swatches, but this is what my untrained eye sees!

Prize #5: Three Oops! Jealous, left to right: No. T07, T16, T01.

T07 is in a royal blue base; T16 in gold base, T01 is in black or grey base. (I've never swatched these even so may have to update this once I do, but this is what my uneducated eye sees!)

I don't know if you can see this from the pix, but these Oops! Jealous polishes are holographic bar glitters in various base colours....got these at a local beauty supply place and thought very cool. I don't know too much about these, but I'm surmising they aren't BF3-free as they are very smelly...cool, but smelly!

Here's everything all together.

**Please note that all the polishes in the giveaway are new and were bought specifically for this giveaway. Any swatches I've done are with my own bottles of polish.

Here's the ballot form. (Please note that all information shared is confidential and will be used for no purpose other than for the giveaway. I know from my last giveaway, there was some hesitant to give out email addresses but please be assured I'm the only one who will see the information.)

**form removed; giveaway closed!**
I'll try to do some more mani's in the upcoming weeks featuring the polishes in the giveaway so you get a feel for those you like the most! I don't want to link any one's blog or post any pix unauthorized so if you aren't familiar with any of them, feel free to google the polishes for more pix!
