Perfect Summer Colours!

Pink and green is one of my favourite colour combinations and there's no better time than summer to wear them!  I know it's not quite summer yet but with the warm weather we've been having, it might as well be summer!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats each of Cupcake Polish One Shell of a Time and Instant Re-leaf, no top coat.  These two polishes were meant to be worn together!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using Marianne Nails n.81 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Added dots using the same polishes but on the other colour!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Colo(u)rs That Collide; Day 1

Not only is it Thanksgiving Day but it is also the first day of Digit-al Dozen week; our theme this month is colours that collide.  This is a rare time that I'm sharing two mani's in the same day so that I can still post for Thanksgiving Day but also try to keep on track for Digit-al Dozen posts.

I've taken day 1's nails a little literally; the colours actually collide on the nail (versus two colours that may clash) but the good thing is that we have wide berth on how we interpret the challenge!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Cupcake Polish Crazy Mod Love, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with images from Lina Twirls & Swirls 01 using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief and Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I took a pix outside the next day so you could see the awesome holoness of Cupcake Polish Mod Love.

Blue Sweater Nails!

I did these quick and easy sweater nails one morning before work this past winter.  While they may not seem too appropriate to be posting in April as spring like nails are more appropriate, they are blue and as I'm trying to post only blue mani's in April, they are getting shared now!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Cupcake Polish Bat-chelor Pad, no top coat.  I have to add that I am just in love with Cupcake Polish!  I own maybe 10-15 of them but for the most part, they have sat untried.  I love the formula, brush, clean up and removal was a breeze plus lots of holo!  It made me want to buy up all the Cupcakes!  It seems I must love this colour as when I was looking to see what Cupcakes I own, I realized I have two bottles of this!  Good thing though, I've wore it a few times!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with images from Powder Perfect Christmas 1 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Indie Love; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  This month's theme is Indie Love and it's a trifecta for me----indies, blue and Digit-al Dozen; three of my favourite polish things!  I'm still sharing blue mani's for Autism Awareness month so all the indies you'll be seeing from me for the challenge will be some shade of blue!  Here's what I came up with for Day 1!

Started with a base of two coats of Cupcake Polish Bat-chelor Pad, no top coat.  I love this moody blue and decided to wear it a couple weeks ago with my shorties as I love wearing darker colours when my nails are on the short side! There were no application issues at all with this polish, it wasn't finicky in any way and clean up was a breeze even though the colour is so dark.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Stamped with an image from Sugar Bubbles SB052 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Added a few dots for colour and interest using Misa Hanging With The Girls.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas Does Films

Today is 40 Great Nail Art Ideas featuring films.  I thought about doing an actual movie and actually had plates set aside to do Monsters Inc. but went in another direction was films in general.  Monsters Inc. will have to wait for another time!  Here's what I came up with!

For the base, I decided to do the alcohol spray water marble; first time ever doing a water marble type of design!  It didn't turn out the best; the first nail I did was the index finger using hair spray but it hardly bubbled at all.  So I used a spray bottle of 70% alcholol that I keep on hand to clean my stamper heads and got better results.  There's room for improvement; including the cleanup; O M G!  Even though I used Girly Bits Border Patrol which helped a great deal, the backside of my fingers had a ton of polish on them still.  I guess when I watched tutorials, they used the stick to remove excess polish and I haven't mastered it well enough so had a lot of polish on a couple of fingers on the back.  Next time, I'll latex the fingers all around.  After I was done, I was like....why am I doing this anyway; there's image plates with these type of designs!  Anyway, I might do this again and see how it goes!  I used Cupcake Polish Down For The Count in the marble, which was over OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  Accent is Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

After cleanup, but before top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.  I picked this gold holo for the water marble as it seemed to closest match the gold stamping polish that I was going to use, which was CND Gold Chrome.  It matched pretty good, I think!

Image plates used were Chez Delaney Cinema 001 (index and top figure on thumb), SdP 78 (middle), SdP 118 (pinky and lower image on thumb) and Canadian Nail Fanatic 001 with Fig Tree Stamps on ring which was stamped using CND Gold Chrome.  The rest of the images are stamped with Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Chez Delaney Cinema 001

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.  I had only taken a few pix when I nicked my middle finger with a polish bottle; the very first pix was one of the few taken but not the best.

I wanted to go glitz and glamour like the night of the Oscars, which I think this was achieved with this colour scheme!

Have a great weekend; thanks for looking!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Teal and Gradient

It's Friday so that means another great nail art challenge! This weeks theme is teal; what is really cool about these bi-weekly themes is there's a mix up on how the theme is presented from everyone who is participating.  I got teal with gradient but you are going to see it done a bunch of different ways that teal is used so be sure to check out the inlinkz at the bottom of the page to see every one's awesome teal mani's!

Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Cupcake Polish What in Carnation? with no top coat.

Did a gradient using Colors by llarowe Mean Dean Proffitt.

Looks much better after cleanup!  Sometimes I like to show the look beforehand just because I think its cool!  I wish I had have realized there is fine glitter in cbl Mean Dean Proffitt before I did the gradient because cleanup was such a pain!  I think this was the mani that made me seriously look into finding a good cuticle barrier although half the time, I forget to use it or don't have the patience waiting for it to dry!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Stamped using Funky Fingers Gesso using an image from MJ Wedding Day.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

This isn't the best pix but you can see the holo peeking through the stamping a little better!

Here's all the different ways teal was used in the other ladies mani's!
