Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns; Day 3

It's day 3 of Digit-al Dozen pattern challenge  (I'm late, I'm sorry but life is just so busy!)!  I just did these nails a couple days ago; I thought I had done the mani's for the challenge (and I have!) but I liked these nails just a little better than another so decided to share now instead of another one!  The other Digit-al Dozen ladies are so talented; I have to try to bring my best mani's to try to keep up lol!  Anyway, here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Essie All Over The Wave, no top coat.

Topped with a coat of Different Dimension Envy, part of the newly released 7 Deadly Sins collection.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from Apipila Super Placa A using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Decided to add a few dots for colour and interest, added them using Painted Polish Stamped in Starfruit.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

World Autism Awareness Day

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day; I did these nails to support autism awareness!

I've been experimenting with making my own spot it; this is one of my fails that I made over the weekend.  Pretty for a drip marble/decal to use on your nails but a fail for DIY spotted polish.

After choosing the areas of the decal that I wanted to use, cut them down to nail size, then applied after putting a thin coat of blue polish and sticky base.  The polishes are Essie Shelter Island, Orly Witch's Blue, Color Club Throwing Spade and Color Club Chelsea Girl.  While I love blue, unfortunately, cleaning up blue is hit and miss.

Applied a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

(Note to self; do not use HTF polish in the future making decals!)

Stamped using images from Dashica 020 using FunkyFingers Gesso with accent nail of BM-321.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I plan on sharing mainly blue mani's all month in support of Autism Awareness month.  For those who aren't blue lovers, I will have some mani's sprinkled in that aren't blue for Digit-al Dozen week and Easter so hopefully you still check back!

Digit-al Dozen Does Tropical; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week and our theme this month is tropical!  I can't say how much the theme fits our climate this summer and even today!  I can't recall such a hot and humid summer for some time now; as much as it is nice to feel some warm weather, the humidity this summer has been unreal!  While we may have an occasional humid day during the summer, we have had so many this year it has not even enjoyable to sit outside a lot of the time IMHO.  Thank goodness for air conditioning!  Anyway, I'm still rocking shorties while I'm waiting for the crack in my middle nail to grow out and that nail is a little odd so please excuse it but I'm still doing my nails; this is my day 1 tropical mani!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI Onyx with accents of three coats of Essie Off The Wall. Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  Also, Essie Off The Wall is a nail stainer. Bummer as such a nice juicy colour.

This was suppose to be the base for a flamingo mani but Essie Off The Wall isn't the same hot pink on the nail as it is in the bottle and I don't think flamingos are this colour!.  Maybe if I had have used a white base if might have turned out a hot pink but instead it turned out to be a coral leaning red colour.  Still nice but not the base I wanted for my flamingo mani so I had to change up my mani plans a little (good thing I had about 50 tropical plates picked out already for the challenge!)  Stamped using FunkyFingers Dark Knight using an image from Lina 4 Seasons-Summer 02.

I actually liked the simplicity of this mani and was going to leave it as is but the busy nail artist in me decided to go further.  Stamped accent nails with Konad The Most Popular Pattern using FunkyFingers Gesso. Topped with KBShimmer.

I thought THAT was how I was going to leave it but you know me, love the busy nails so added a few dots on accent nails to match/balance out.  Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Here's the other ladies Day 1 tropical mani's!

Thanks for looking!  And try to stay cool if you're in the GTA today!

Spring Flowers!

I know it's been a while since I did a blog post and thanks if you are still around checking out my blog and other media's! I had a couple of emergencies involving my kids (one broke his arm, he had to see several specialists, have scans and numerous xrays/scans/tests due to the break and circumstances  to see if surgery and/or other treatment was need; and if that wasn't enough, two days later, my daughter was in car accident and totalled her car and was pretty banged up and bruised). This was on top of my pretty busy work and personal life already plus I had planned holidays the week this happened as I had some business I had to attend to so life just got too busy and hectic to find the time to do any blogging.  I was still doing my nails when I could though; not overly complicated nails just polish and simple stamping so again, thanks for hanging around!

I did stamper decals for these nails maybeeee six weeks ago I want to say?  Let's just say that while I've had good success with retaining a painted image on a hard stamper and then applying SH Hard as Nails to make a decal and then applying it when it was well over a year old, these decals painted on the stamper and then applied directly from the stamper using the sticky base didn't hold up nearly as well.  Super fragile and brittle; some broke apart and I had to line them back up on the nail and apply.  While they didn't turn out terribly, they could have been better I think.  But I love these odd assortment of flowers; almost all are spring flowers that are starting to bloom or at least come up in my area right now.  This is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Essie Shelter Island, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Applied images from BundleMonster XL217 directly from stamper.

Applied final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

This week is also Digit-al Dozen challenge week; the theme this month is mani's inspired by other members. Everyone knows how much I love being part of the Digit-al Dozen and I don't think in the 5+ years I've been a member that I've ever sat out an entire event although I do know that I've missed finishing some of my mani's some months.  I'm really sad that I wasn't able to participate this month but just had too much on the go to source mani's and then try to replicate them or do something close.  I do hope you check out the other ladies mani's this month and I should be on track for next month!

Floral Nails...and Oodles of Dots!

This aqua or turquoise colour is one I wear often during the summer; in fact, I would hazard a guess that I probably wear aqua or turquoise at least twice a week.  I often do nails to coordinate what I'm wearing so this is what I had on not too long ago to match my outfit! Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base coat of Essie I'm Addicted.  This may be a little darker to the true colour as I started with a SpaRitual turquoise that was darker than I wanted and did one coat of it; realized it was going to be darker than I wanted, so just layered two coats of the Essie on top so there may be some colour variance.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with Mezerdoo B1 using MdU 1 (I could only get the MdU polish to work with the plate for some reason).  I took the same image and stamped pieces and parts on it differently on each nail for a little variety and interest.

Mezerdoo B1

Added a few random dots using MdU 80.  I *might* have gone a little overboard with the dots....lol!  But I liked it!

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Hope you're having a great week....thanks for looking!

Happy Family Day!!

It's Family Day here in Ontario and a long weekend too! I've been spending most of the long weekend visiting family and just hanging out with family!  I did these nails last night!

Started with a base of one coat of Essie GoWith The Flowy! then did a sponged gradient using Nicole By OPI Hit The Lights, Summer Brights Coral and Essie All The Wave.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using FunkyFingers Dark Knight using images from MdU Valentine's 3.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Last of the Christmas Nails!

Hopefully you had a great holiday season!  This is what I'm wearing right now; I had done these decals a couple weeks ago but didn't have a chance to wear them before Christmas but didn't want to waste them, so put them on Boxing Day (I think it was!).

Started with a base of two coats of Essie Go With The Flowy, no top coat.

Added a coat of Elevation Polish LE Yeti The Stone Warrior.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

These are the stamper decals I was referring to; used mix of acrylic paints for most; the poinsettias are Cbl The Mightly Red Baron.

Creative Shop 36

Applied stamper decals; the images are from UberChic Christmas-01 (poinsettia) and Creative Shop 36 (pine cone and cardinal).  Stamped the pine needles on the middle using same Creative Shop plate.

Applied a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to all fingers except middle.

My favourite image!

Added words to middle finger using an image from Bunny Nails HD-F using Girly Bits Fire Engine Red, then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.
