Invasion Of......Bugs!

Warning!  Do not click if bugs and creepy crawlies give you the hebegebees!!

This weeks FB Adventures in Stamping challenge was Invasion Of.....and we could pick anything we thought was invading us.  So I came up with an Invasion of Bugs...because I thought it may be kinda cool to have some creepy crawlies and bugs as its so close to Halloween.  Here's what I came up with.

Regular lighting.

Started with a base of two coats of Essence #138, L.O.L.  This is one of the shades in their new style bottles available at Shoppers Drug Mart or Ulta.

Added two coats of Sally Hansen New Lengths Glow in the Dark.

A GITD shot.

And another...I fine this pix very creepy!

Added a coat of Nina Ultra Pro Electric Slide and topped with SV.

Even though I've added another two coats of coatings on my nails since I applied the GITD, it still glows.  This old Sally Hansen is the best GITD polish that I've found.  I've sampled a bunch of them and this one works the best by far. At this point, I had 8 layers of polishes and base coats on, so I waited about half an hour before stamping to give the base a good chance to dry.

Stamped using W201 (bugs on middle finger and just below the worm on thumb is a partial stamp using same bug image), SdP 41 (fly on middle finger and thumb), Mash48 (worm on thumb), W230 (ant on index), T44 (bee on thumb), D23 (beetle on pinky), A05 (wasp on index), fauxnad m41 (centipede on ring) W207 (fly above worm on thumb) using black Konad stamping polish.

GITD pix.

To really make it a little bit more creepy and more along Halloween, I added random spiders from an image on T23 and stamped throughout.

Added a few random dots using CND polishes using CND Orange and Eclectic Purple.

Topped with SV.

Something that I was quite surprised with is how many images there are of bugs and creepy crawlies of some sort...even though I used 9 different plates here, I had several more picked out to use but ran out of space on my fingers.  And is it odd that I want that fly image in about 3 more different sizes?  Of all the images, and even though it freaks me out the most, I can think of so many times when I would use it!

Sparkly Stars!

This is another one of my layering experiments-Nina Ultra Pro Ruby Fire topped with Nicole by OPI Spark My Mistletoe.

Stamped using Nicole by OPI Positive Energy, using Big SdP B.

Here's mani in progress. Two coats of Nina Ultra Pro Ruby Fire.

Topped with one coat of Nicole by OPI Spark my Mistletoe.

Then stamped.

Just before I took it off, I put on a coat of Essie matte polish on it; I really liked the look of this and may have worn it for a day except I had some tip wear that was starting to really bug me :(

Thanks for looking!

Oh and before I forget, Shirley is looking for some image plate design suggestions for upcoming plates (I guess?); if there's designs you want to see, leave your comments here. I know there's a bunch of images/designs on stamping plates I'd like to see and have left quite a few suggestions...she's probably tired of hearing from me by now!

I also want to stress (because lately I've been use these SdP plates A LOT), that I'm not affiliated with Shirley in any way; I've paid for all the image plates you see on this blog...I just happen to think they are some of the coolest designs out there right now so can't help reaching for them again and again when I do my nail designs! Also, I've been kinda lazy in my stamping (really, its a no time issue versus being lazy!) so been using a lot of full image designs and these SdP plates have lots of variety and are quick to stamp a design on to be honest!!

Stars Galore!

Here's the last of the HB series plates; HB 36 to 40.

I'm loving these stars on plate HB39, especially the image on the index finger. I'm thinking at some point I'm just going to use this image and do a whole mani! Oh, the possibiliies are endless, I know!

Used my standby silver for stamping...Nicole by OPI Positive Energy.

Polish is Nina Ultra Pro Royal Purple. I'm in love with this...unfortunately as far as pictures go, it does photo on the blue side, but it is a deep glossy looking purple. While I'm not a nail expert, I believe it is a jelly finish...whatever it is, I'm lovin!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these plates and I look forward to seeing the designs my fellow bloggers have come up with if you have them!

Here's the plates; click on image for better look!

My Vacation Nails!

First and foremost, please accept my apologies for the sad, sad state of my cuticles. I was on vacation last week and just was not looking after them as much as I should have been! But they are slowly getting back on track. I even thought about not posting these but hey, my blog was started as a record of my stamping and this is record of the mani I did at the time. Plus we all have good days and bad, right?

This was a quick mani of a couple polishes I found on sale at Sally's for $2.79 each! First was two coats of Nina Ultra Pro in Sweet Nothings. Then layered with a coat of Savvy Purple Potion. This collection of very sheer and sparkly polishes are great to use for layering and add an extra something to the mani. The last pix was a quick indoor picture so not that colour accurate but wanted to take a quick one before layering the Savvy polish over it.

Stamped with fauxnad IP A19 using Konad white special polish. The stamp barely fit my little tiny nails especially my pinkie! I so envy those bloggers who have larger and longer nails. But on the bright side, a lot of the full nail image plates that they say don't find on their nails generally fit mine so I guess there is some benefit in having teeny nails!
