Shell Skittles

Another beach themed mani that I did recently; this time I liked the matte version just a smidgen better than the shiny, but for those who aren't a fan of matte, please scroll down and you'll see it too!  Here's what I came up with!

When I was looking for a polish or polishes to use for this mani, I pulled a couple KBShimmer blue ones.  Then I thought hmm, I like this finish, I wonder if I have enough to do skittles!  I didn't quite have enough to do all blue but the thumb is close enough and adds a little interest, so starting at thumb and going clockwise, used KBShimmer Polishes Hashtag You're It!, We Make Your Dreams Come Blue, Better Lake Than Ever, Rock This Way, and No Wave!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using B. Loves B.11 Summer Paradise using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Topped with matte from Glisten & Glow the next day.

Perfect Summer Colours!

Pink and green is one of my favourite colour combinations and there's no better time than summer to wear them!  I know it's not quite summer yet but with the warm weather we've been having, it might as well be summer!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats each of Cupcake Polish One Shell of a Time and Instant Re-leaf, no top coat.  These two polishes were meant to be worn together!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using Marianne Nails n.81 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Added dots using the same polishes but on the other colour!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Cherry Blossoms!

I've been seeing some pictures of cherry blossoms; hard to believe that the weather is warm enough for this as we certainly don't seem to have warm enough weather for much budding right now.  Although I guess I do see a few buds on the trees and sprouts of plants coming up.  But man, it is chilly!  And windy!  Hopefully warmer weather is right around the corner!  I haven't done cherry blossom nails in a while (if ever, come to think of it) but have done a couple so far this year so thought I'd start sharing as part of my spring sharing right now.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Enchanted Disco H20 (teal) with accent nails of Elevation Polish The Cow's Mouth.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Made a stamper decal from Creative 167 using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief, then filled in with MdU 20, Painted Polish Stamped in Rose and Painted Polish Blanc Slate and Enchanted Disco H20.  Also stamped the branches for the blossoms on the rest of the nails using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief from Dixie Plates DP10.

Edited post to add Creative Shop 167 pix.

Added the cherry blossoms to the branches from Dixie Plates DP10 using same polishes from the middle; MdU 20, Painted Polish Stamped in Rose and Painted Polish Blanc Slate by doing an gradient on the plate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added either black dots on some blossoms or the tri-colours on others as centers of the blossoms.

Finished with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Edit:  I loved this picture shared on Riyets on IG recently and thought it was appropriate to this mani!

Cool Nails!

When I can't seem to pick our a polish base and/or sometimes when I want to do quick and easy nails, I pick my tried and true favourite, Different Dimension Kiss Me Under The Light of a Thousand Stars.  I love this polish so; I have 3 bottles of it and it by far is my most used polish of any that I have wore (other than the basics like black and white bases).  I've also been trying to use some plates that I haven't used before and found this cool image that I thought would go well with the base...plus quick and easy!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Kiss Me Under the Light of a Thousand Stars, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Infinity Nails 140.

Stamped with image from Infinity Nails 140 using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.

I like this pix as you can see the sparkle shine through a bit.  Another thing I really like about this image; you can see the beauty of the base underneath!

Hope you're having a fabulous day and thanks for looking!

Blue Skittles

When you don't know what you wear on your nails, you just pick a bunch of polishes and hope for the best!  That's what this skittle mani is; I couldn't pick which blue to wear on my nails and while I initially was going for a skittle gradient, these polishes aren't quite a gradient.  What I did find out though, was most of these I hadn't worn before and now that I have, I discovered I really liked a couple of them!  Sometimes, picking the polishes are as random as this!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Too Fancy skittles; starting at thumb and going clockwise:  Royal Jeans, Set Fire to the Rain, Bejeweled, Moody Blue and Lake Como, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with an image from Lina Make Your Mark 08 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Finished with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Digit-al Dozen Does Colo(u)rs That Collide; Day 1

Not only is it Thanksgiving Day but it is also the first day of Digit-al Dozen week; our theme this month is colours that collide.  This is a rare time that I'm sharing two mani's in the same day so that I can still post for Thanksgiving Day but also try to keep on track for Digit-al Dozen posts.

I've taken day 1's nails a little literally; the colours actually collide on the nail (versus two colours that may clash) but the good thing is that we have wide berth on how we interpret the challenge!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Cupcake Polish Crazy Mod Love, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with images from Lina Twirls & Swirls 01 using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief and Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I took a pix outside the next day so you could see the awesome holoness of Cupcake Polish Mod Love.

Here's the other ladies day 1 mani's!

Some Experimental Layering!

I was going to use this mani for Digit-al Dozen colours challenge as there are quite a few colours in this but I had so many other mani's, that I used them instead.  Another floral mani, I love the brights against the darker base!

I love dark colours on shorties so started with a base of two coats of Pahlish Whomping Willow, no top coat.

Topped with a coat of New York Summer Alpha Jewel Glitter.

Layered with a coat of Yves Love 441.  This was a random dollar store find many years ago.  It is really sheer but I applied it thicker than my test nail so it covered up more of the holographic glitter than I wanted but you can still see it shine through.  It also has a really interesting green shimmer to it which added a whole other level to the base!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

That shimmerrrrr!

Stamped with image from Lina Feeling Shapely! 08 using MdU 1.

Added dots using MdU 53, 68 and 106 for some colour pop!  I was quite happy that you could still see the glitter and the shimmer even with the stamping on top!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.
