Nails Circa 2016!

I've been keeping my nails fairly short lately so when I seen this mani in archives, I'm like, who's nails are these??!!  I don't think I've seen my nails this length for some time and not sure when they'll be back, although, one thing is for sure, the longer length certainly adds for nail art!  Anyway, this mani is over three years old; done on January 20, 2016!  Man, time flies....here's what I came up with!

Noodles Polish Christmas Cheer.

Started with a base of two coats of Noodles Polish Christmas Cheer, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with MoYou Gold Espresso using an image from ZZ Abstractos 2.

Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I can't believe I wore my nails this long!  They don't even seem like they should belong to me but I know they do lol.  I think I like my shorties better as I'm not a fan of how my nails look with the curve that happens when they get longer plus they are certainly a lot easier to type with lol!  The only benefit really is the added nail art canvas!

Digit-al Dozen Does TV Shows; Day 2

It's Digit-al Dozen week and our theme this month is TV shows!  I don't really watch a lot of tv lately as I get home from work around 8 pm, have something to eat, clean up the kitchen and do rest of my evening chores then try to sit down and do my nails around 10:30 to 11 pm and then head to bed.  I might snag pieces of whatever the hubs is watching here and there and anything we are watching it mainly some sort of reality tv; my faves are anything to do with Alaska (which I do hope to share too!)  But I can remember as a kid watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza with my grandpa so decided to do western nails.  Here's what I came up with!

I had these polishes on my desk from doing fall mani's and thought they would be be appropriate; did a base of two coats of CND Vagabond, then dry brushed using Girly Bits One of a Kind Green, Butternut Leave Me Alone and Another Brick in the Fall.  Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using images from MdU Wild West (thumb, ring and index) and YF 241 (middle and pinky).  Finished with another coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  The very first pix is shown with a coat of My Indie Polish My Perfect Matte, which is how I'm wearing it as I think it looks more rustic with the matte.  The shiny version is OK, too!

Wedding Nails!

While you might think this is the start of me sharing fall nails, it's not the case by any means!  I did these nails a couple weeks ago to match my outfit for a wedding that I attended.  I haven't been to a wedding in years and years; everything about it was beautiful! Thankfully it wasn't too hot and not raining;  it was an outdoor wedding and this summer in Ontario, it has either been excessively hot and humid or torrential downpour rain so they lucked out weather wise that's for sure!  Anyway, here's the nails that I came up with to match my outfit!

Started with a base of Blush Lacquers Number One Bee Girl from May 2018 Hella Handmade Creations. I love this hue; it will be a great polish to use for fall mani's for sure!  (Please excuse the condition of my middle nail; I've been dealing with it for months now and I had to remove all the dried skin as it is all hard and thick but it doesn't stop me from doing my nails just not the prettiest when sharing, sorry.  I tried to hid it as best I could!)

After waiting about 10 minutes or so for the base to dry, did a sponged gradient using Blush Lacquer Number One Bee Girl, Fancy Gloss Red Velvet Mocha and Fancy Gloss Pumpkin Spice.  This is inspired by a mani that I had seen before using Fancy Gloss Red Velvet Mocha, Pumpkin Spice and Gingerbread Latte but I cannot find the creator at the moment to give credit.  Those 3 Fancy Gloss polishes were LE and I missed them; they have been in my ISO for some time and while I have two home with me now, I finally secured the final one in a destash and although it is with my US nail pal, it will be home soon!  So exciting when you quash lemmings!  But I wanted to do the gradient to match my outfit even though I didn't have FG Gingerbread Latte so substituted the Blush Lacquer and I think it turned out well!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  This really made the colours pop!

Stamped with Konad m78 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  Stamping again with a Konad image plate makes me realize how small their images were!  Even on my small nails and here when I have no length, thankfully I had a clear stamper for placement as the image barely fit so I was able to position it well!  But the great thing about the small image was hardly any cleanup!  But this is a great animal print stamp to use; lots of space that you can see the beauty of the base polish and an interesting image on your nails.

I even did Ms. Cindy!  I was kinda annoyed at myself because this was one run of the sponge and it did each nail and it gradiented well with oodles of colours; on my sharing hand, it was many runs of sponging to get it to a vivid colour!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Bundle Up!

Happy New Year's Eve!  Canada and most of the US is in a deep freeze so if you are going out to celebrate tonight, make sure you bundle up!  I used the cold temperatures as inspiration for these sweater or scarf nails!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of ILNP Grace.

I knew I was going to layered sweater nails.  Decided to use two images from Marianne Nails n.114

Stamped using Marianne Nails n.114 using MoYou Maroon.

Double stamped using MoYou Skin Silk.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Have a wonderful and safe New Year's Eve if you are going out.  We are staying in and will be watching the ball drop on tv.  Whatever you do, stay warm!

Digital Dozen Does Story Genres; Day 2

I am seriously behind postings for this weeks story genre challenge for Digit-al Dozen....I hope you have been enjoying the other ladies mani's because they have been awesome!

I have the mani's done but haven't done the posts so I do hope I get some time here and there to catch up soon!  This is my day 2 mani representing the story genre of westerns.  I had a couple thoughts here....when I was researching all the different genres, I discovered I pretty much only read fictional romance type of books.  I read a wide assortment of authors who have many different writing styles, but that is pretty much my preferred genre. As I wanted to link or tie the mani into each genre but because I read such a limited genre of books, this was going to be hard!  So I got to thinking about books in different genres even though I may not have read them, which lead me to thinking about my grandpa who had a library at his house which was full of books that included a wall full of Louis L'Amour western novels....it seemed like he had hundreds of them and I know he read them all!  I'm guessing westerns was his favourite genre!  What fond memories it brought back of me thinking about how I used to borrow books from my grandparents and go into the library and get them and then talking about them!  There's a great probability I read a Louis L'Amour western or two way back then!  My preferred genre is more fictional romance type of books as I mentioned already, but I know I've read romantic westerns as one of my favourite settings of books is back in the 1800's or earlier as I'm fascinated to read how they lived way back in the day!  Anyway, this is my western genre mani; I hope you like it even though I can't really tie it into a recent novel I've read!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a sponged gradient base using Nicole by OPI In the Moment, China Glaze I Just Cant-alope, Essence The Green & The Grunge and Essence I'm a Marine Girl.  I wasn't overly pleased with this look initially as I was going for the time frame of dusk and the yellow/orange wasn't enough and the dark blue wasn't enough but oh well, this is how it turned out so I went with it!  This is the problem with trying to do a gradient using 4 colours on my little nails lol!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added images from CNF 002 with Fig Tree Stamps using Mdu 2.

Added a coat of KBShimmer.

I thought I was finished, but you know me....my preferred style is busy as anything and I'm not a fan of open voids!  So decided to take the mani another step by colouring in the setting sun which I did with the same polishes, Nicole by OPI Bee in the Moment and China Glaze I Just Cant-alope.  Then stamped in stars from Sugar Bubbles SBS 07.  This took foreverrrr to make sure just the right amount of stars were in just the right spot; the stars alone were probably a good 15 or more individual stamps!  And even though stamping image wise these are pretty much the smallest star images I could think of, they do look like pretty big dollops of snow...like a big snow flake!  *Sigh*  Anyway, I still like the added touch of the added colour.  I also have to say that I was disappointed how the gradient turned out on the thumb, but when I actually look at the finished mani, I like how there is the teal, then the blue, then the teal again because it kinda looks like the Northern Lights sky!  To me anyway!

So proud of how the thumb turn out!  Love it!

Sugar Bubbles SBS 07

Topped with another coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Decided that this is one of those mani's that might look best in matte, so topped with a coat of OPI Matte.  I can't decide which version I like better; the matte or shiny as I think they both have something going for them.  However, I did wear the matte version for a few days.  Matte, you can see some of the gradient a little better and it highlights some of the stamping and it kinds looks older or more vintage or aged which is how I see the settings of westerns, so I might prefer the matte version by a smidgen!

My favourite nail again!

The 4 nails, more monotoned look!

Digit-al Dozen REDOES Art; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week; this month's challenge is art!  As usual, this challenge was hard but I did manage to come up with a few mani's; here's the first one based on the Mona Lisa (hopefully that is clear lol); here's what I came up with!

Mona Lisa painting

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff.

Did a sponged gradient using assortment of earthy colours.

Here's the polishes!

 Topped with KBShimmer.

I had made stamper decals using an image from MoYou Tourist 07.  The image was super large for my nails so I had to shrink it and stamp 3 times so the image ended up somewhat distorted...plus that many times to make sure facing the right way!

I did some art on the thumb to mimic the background on the painting.

Applied stamper decal.

I did some further shading to the thumb, the stamper decal etc. (She looks like Mona Lisa pouty, sad girl!)

Added an assortment of images pertaining to Paris as the Mona Lisa resides in the Louvre there.  Images used were from UberChic mini Paris in Love (ring), MoYou Tourist 07 (pinky in addition to stamper decal on thumb) and Marianne Nails n.95 (index) using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

UberChic mini Paris in Love

Topped with KBShimmer.

Thought that matte top coat would make it more rustic like the painting, so added coat of OPI matte.
