Digit-al Dozen Does Childhood; Day 1

Welcome back to Digit-al Dozen week!  This weeks theme is childhood!  I think some gals will be sharing about childhood generally and others about their own childhood, which is what I'm going to be doing all week too!  I'm sure there will be some fantatic nails!  This is my Day 1 mani featuring my beloved Mrs. Beasley who was a doll that I had when I was young; I'm guessing when I was around 6 or 7ish?  Mrs. Beasley had a pull cord in her back and I remember being so upset when she fell in a puddle when I was playing with her outside and she didn't talk no more!

I spent a lot of time searching for the perfect blue to match; and hopefully found it with a base of p2 191 Gigantic, two coats, no top coat.

Added coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Stamped using Marianne n51 using Mundo de Unas #1.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top. (Love the look of this; need to redo some day!)

Added an image from MoYou Sailor Collection-06 to mimic yellow trim from Mrs. Beasley using Mundo de Unas 11 then top coated to finish.

These nails bring back so many childhood memories...but what I remember most about Mrs. Beasley is the other girls teasing me about having her!  But I thought she was the best at the time!

Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures; Day 4

I hope you have been enjoying Digit-al Dozen week......I've been checking all the ladies posts daily and they have been fabulous...even if we have been picking a lot of the same countries!  But there have been some different ones and really some out of the box and creative thinking mani's too....always amazes me what the ladies do for the themes....so much creativity!  Here's my Day 4 mani featuring the Good O'l U.S. of A!

Started with a base of two coats each of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Duri Taming of the Shrew and p2 191 Gigantic; topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using images from Messy Mansion MM15 on all fingers except index which is BM-H25. Stamping polishes used where white, black and red Konad special polishes and Mundo de Unas stamping polish #30.

BM-H25

MM15 (love that so many images are available in one plate!)

Before top coating, added a few random starts from MM15 to pinky and thumb and a few dots to the country image on the thumb; the dots didn't transfer that well so had to hand fill in and correct with remover...but removed too much on the pinky and then filled in, which is more obvious than I would have liked....if only I knew how to photoshop!

Here's the other ladies fabulous Day 4 mani's!

Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures; Day 3

It's Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures.  I've been amused that there are so many countries (189 to 196 according to Glowstar's blog post here) and the ladies in the group are picking a lot of the same countries!  So last night when I was sitting down to do my nails, I thought  no one has done a mani highlighting Australia so I thought it was safe to do (not that it matters!).  Then, this morning, seen The Crumpet did a post today featuring Australia!  Oh, well.  I think the only way I'm going to be able to do a mani on a country that no one else has picked is chose somewhere very, very remote...(not withstanding The Crumpet did Antarctica already here!) but the likelihood they have stamping plates for a remote location is slim, so I'm sure I'll be posting the same as others anyway. While I haven't seen Canada yet (and am saving mine for Friday), there are other Canadians in the group so I'm sure I won't be the only either.  Not that it matters, I'm just thinking a little variety seeing how there are 189+ countries......but from what I've seen, there's been good variety in the group even if we are all doing mani's of a lot of the same countries!  Anyway, here's what I came up with representing Australia!

Started with a base of two coats each of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and p2 191 Gigantic, topped with KBShimmer clearly on top.  Sponged accent nails using CND Flashpoint, Bicylce and Electric Orange.

Added koala from MoYou Tourist Collection-19 on middle, then top coated in preparation of leadlighting.

Konad A1

Unfortunately, I didn't take pix as I went along, but after filling in middle image with jelly polishes, added more stamped images; FUN 12 (ozotic on index), MJ IV (surfer on index), MoYou Tourist Collection-19 (lizard on index), MoYou Explorer Collection-05 (top kangaroo on ring); Konad A1 ICNA (flag and AUS on thumb, bottom kangaroo on ring and small koala face on pinky), MoYou Explorer Collection-20 on pinky using black and white Konad special polishes.  Added small koala face on pinky from the Konad plate as well. I top coated the ring and pinky and used various polishes to fill in images and fill backgrounds.  The wording ozotic is Mundo de Unas 30.    Lastly, used a brush and hand painted red in flag on thumb using red Konad special polish.

Top coated everything to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures; Day 1

It's another week of Digit-al Dozen mani's;  this month's challenge theme is Countries and Cultures.  Here's what I came up with for Day 1!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls with an accent of p2 192 Gigantic, topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using Infinity 25 (pinky) and SdP 119 (crown on middle); MoYou Tourist Collection-05 (ring); the rest of the images are from MoYou Tourist 01.  Stamping polishes used were FUN black stamping polish, red and white Konad special polishes and Mundo de Unas 30.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I predict the Digit-al Dozen is going to have a whole lot of fabulous mani's this week with this diverse challenge theme; here's the rest of the ladies Day 1 mani's!

Digit-al Dozen DOES It Again; Day 6, Love and Heartbreak

Here it is Day 6 of the Digit-al Dozen challenges; if you are keeping track, I didn't do a Day 5 challenge simple due to time restraints so sorry about that.  This and the remaining posts you'll see over the next week are scheduled posts as I'm heading off on vacation.....I hope there are no glitches while I'm away as I'll have limited to nil internet access for the next days 10 days.  I will be sharing some pix of my holiday when I return (at some point) as well as sharing the mani I'll be wearing while away which will include a review of CND Vinylux...really excited to try this while I'm away as I know I won't have a spare minute to do my nails while I'm away!

It was kind of hard to get into some of the holiday themed mani's when they aren't in season and I found the Love and Heartbreak challenge a bit of a challenge.  I don't typically do lovey dovey type of mani's except around Valentine's Day...but I guess that's why it's called a challenge!  Here's what I came up with...not overboard by all means, but enough hearts that I hope I hit the theme!

Started with a base of two coats of Ruby Wing Mystic.  I had bought a few of these these colour changing polishes a while now but this was the first time I've tried them out so was interested to see how much they would change.

Decided to do a glitter gradient so added NYX Dark Red glitter.

Topped with p2 Glamorous Finish Holo Topcoat.

While I didn't mind this, it wasn't giving me the glitter factor I was going for, so added a little CrowsToes Morticia at tips.  This wasn't exactly what I was looking for either but at least added a little bit more interest.

Stamped using white Konad special polish using Big SdP W.

Topped with SV.

The next morning was a bright, sunny day so was able to see the colour change...wowzers!!  I was pretty impressed!

I find polishes like this pretty fascinating.  I think I bought three of these colour changing polishes but for sure, want to pick up a few more.  I also want to try some thermal polishes; hopefully soon!

Here's the other ladies Love and Heartbreak mani's!

Lastly, a reminder about the Digit-al Dozen $200 gift card giveaway; please go here to check out the details and for the entry form!

Silver Crackle, Anyone?

Haven't used crack in a while...polish that is!!!...so when I was deciding on my next mani and seen p2 crackling silver polish sitting there, I'd thought I'd give it a try. P2 is not available in Canada, but again, I was lucky enough to swap for it. Here's Nubar Belize Coral with one coat of p2 Silver Crackling polish, with topcoat.

This is before topcoat; it has a matte finish, typical of other crackle/shatters on the market. While I was putting on the crackling polish, I seen it had a slight shimmer and it had the same finish of China Glaze OMG (less the holo, of course)...which got me to thinking, wouldn't holo crackle/shatter/crackling polish just be the coolest ever? I guess if you are into crackle it would be...can you just image the combination possibilities? I guess time will tell if it ever materializes...I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed! Here's a closeup of the shimmer; hopefully you cansee what I'm talking about. Photobucket Here's a rare pix of my right hand...on this hand, I applied the crackling polish a little thicker, and you can see the effect is a bit chunkier. And Nubar Belize Coral by itself...this would be a perfect spring or summer polish...I can't wait to try it with some stamping! You probably know that OPI is coming out with a silver shatter; it will be interesting to see how the two compare! Hope you're having a great weekend and thx for looking!
