Too Soon?

I knew when I sat down to do my nails last night that it was calling for rain and because I've been wearing lots of neons and brights lately, I decided to wear something a little toned down.  I was looking through my IEC 2019 haul and seen these polishes and thought they would make a cool skittle fall mani.  This is what I came up with!

Started with a skittle base of Bees Knees Lacquer Bucking Bronco, Alter Ego Uncommonly Me, Bees Knees Lacquer Hell Knight, Alter Ego Happy I'm Not Like The Others and Alter Ego Being Myself.  All the Alter Ego polishes are two coats; the Bees Knees are three.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped on some fall leaves using image from Lina 4 Seasons-Autumn 01 using MdU 9, 11, 32, 51 and 66 (and not all them necessarily on each nail).

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

The Bees Knees have this pretty delicate shimmer in them so I decided to apply a matte top coat to highlight it; applied one coat of Glisten & Glow matte.

We had a late start to summer and I believe I heard it's forecasting for a warm fall so oodles of time so don't worry that I'll be sharing fall manis now.  I still have lots of summer looks to share before the leaves really change and the wind blows colder!  Just a nice change from the brights and neons that I've been wearing lately!

Digit-al Dozen Does Colours; Day 5

I was away for the weekend and didn't have a chance to share my day 5 mani for the colours challenge this month before I left.   But colour(ful) it is; here's what I came up with!

Started with a skittle base of Nine Zero Polishes; starting at thumb and going clockwise:  Pineapple Punch, Blueberry Acai, Matcha & Mint, Mango Sunrise and Watermelon Juice; all two coats, no top coat.  The shard flakes are as they fell from the brush after shaking; some I had pretty good coverage and others, not as much.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with image from DRK-A using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  This wasn't the image I had planned on using but wanted something that I could see the shard  through and it was close by.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Hopefully you have enjoyed all the colour mani's this month!  Thanks again for looking!

Digit-al Dozen Does Albums; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  Our challenge this month is albums.  Which is a challenge of course because who has albums any more??!!  Although I know they are coming back and wasn't it just International Record Store Day?

I grew up in the era of albums (unfortunately, I also grew up in the era of 8tracks and then remembered when cassettes came out!) and actually have quite a few still but who can recreate the album cover of Meatloaf, Bat Out of Hell on your nails for example (which is an absolutely incredible album that thankfully I still have!)  Plus while I still do have albums, I have no way of listening to them as no record player. (Ahem, I still have 8tracks but not sure why as how will I ever listen to them??)  I often though about getting a system but haven't; maybe one day.   Anyway, I googled album covers of some of my favourite artists and was actually quite surprised how many stamping images there are that are from albums.  Here's what I came up with for day 1!

Started with a base of skittles, starting at thumb going clockwise are OPI Black Onyx, China Glaze Flame-boyant, CND Taffy Pink, CND Electric Orange and CND Bicycle Yellow; all two coats, no top coat.  Sorry about index finger; I had break on side of nail and just got tired of fixing it so cut it down and unfortunately, it was really, really short.  This was almost a month ago and it is just starting to grow out now.  This was one of the first manis done in it's really short state!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

It may not look like it, but this mani actually took quite a bit on planning as had to coordinate the base polishes with the stamping colours to make sure that the correct base and stamped image worked out.  Really had to think about it lol.  And getting just the right shades was another issue.  But I don't think I did too badly!

Using images from MoYou London Roxy Collection-08, stamped using MdU 112, 8, 68, 33 and 11 on the thumb.  On the middle and ring fingers, had to use the stamping polish and fill in the rest of the nail as the images themselves were so small.

The thumb is added imagery; not on the album but love this stamped image of Freddy, one of my all time favourite singers!  Added Queen wording from Stampaholic 7 using MdU 1.

This is the album cover the nails are based upon.

Skittle Sweater Nails

I'm trying to get my backlog of winter-ish mani's posted while they are still relevant. Relevant-ish anyway! lol.  I did these nails in the middle of our extremely cold winter.  Even though we haven't hit warm temperatures yet, I guess I have to be thankful it isn't as cold as the temperatures we had over the winter.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Noodles Polish Whimsical Winter Woods (December 2018 PPU).

Bottle shot of Noodles Nail Polish Whimsical Winter Woods.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using MdU 106, 112, 9, 37 and 13 (starting at thumb and going clockwise) using image from Marianne Nails n.53.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Holo; Day 2

I couldn't believe I hadn't wore Cbl Santa Baby before (even though I've owned for three years- yikes!)  So the very next night, I thought I'd search for stash for some similar Color by llarowe holos to do a ugly pretty Christmas sweater mani.  And discovered more holo's that I hadn't worn before!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with Color by llarowe skittles; polishes used starting at thumb and going clockwise are Young Turks, Santa Baby, Last Harvest, Talk To The Hand and Orange Crush.  All are untried except Young Turks and Santa Baby (that I had just worn the night before so virtually untried!)  I was going for jewel tones and wished I had have picked a darker blue but oh well, another time.

I'm not sure if I'm alone in this problem, but a lot of these cute sweater images just don't fit my nails right (and it's not only sweater images!).  To explain, like for instance here, I was able to get both reindeers centered on my nails nicely as these images are fairly small but a lot of the images, the main image (in this case the reindeer), the duel image is far too large so I can only get one of them on my nails or one and a half so a lot of these type of images, I just can't wear on my small nails (first small nail world problems, I know!)  But I found this image on Moyra 36 Winter is Coming that was perfect for placement (well, except on my small pinky!) but I'll take it!

Trick or Treat!

Trick Or Treat!  It's the big day if you have trick or treaters going out down to door tonight!  Just make sure if you are out and about with some trick or treaters, that you stay away from wear wolves, haunted houses, ghosts and graveyards!

Started with a base of OPI Fiercely Fiona, China Glaze Sunset Seeker, KBShimmer Hide and Eek, China Glaze Shadies & Gentlemen and Zoya Mira.  Most are three coats; the index and pinky are two.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Made stamper decals for the index using Delaney Halloween 006 and pinky with MoYou Festive 16, and stamped thumb using Chez Delaney Halloween 002, middle and ring using MoYou Festive 16 using MdU 1, 2, and 13.  The lights in the haunted house and the RIP are MdU 27.

Shadow stamped middle finger using same MoYou Festive 16 using MdU 2 as well as stamped a bat onto the thumb from Delaney Halloween 006 (that is now upside down, I see lol but that's OK as bats can fly up, down and all around!)

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top on all fingers except ring to finish.

If you are out with the trick or treaters tonight or you are giving out candy like me, have a fun and safe Halloween!

More Fall Leaves!

I love, love, love, love how this turned out!  I've been doing some layering lately experimenting with some untrieds as well as trying to come up with some interesting nail art bases when I don't really have a lot of time to do something spectacular that takes hours of work as I simply don't have that time right now....hoping it just looks like it did when it was short and sweet!  But these fall skittles with the flakies on top are giving me all the fall feels and I was really happy how these turned out; I even wore them for a few days which is not typical for me!  Here's what I came up with!

Started out with a base of skittles in fall colours; starting at thumb and going clockwise:  Girly Bits Another Brick in the Fall, Sally Hansen CSM Butterscotch, CND Vinylux Gypsy, Girly Bits It's Near Leaf All and CND Vinylux Offbeat.

Topped with DRK Baila Comigo Colecao Rita Lee.nada (this is entire contents of bottom label; it could be more than the name, I'm not really sure, sorry.)

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with image from Lina 4 Seasons-Autumn 02 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

The next day (or even too, I can't remember, sorry) added a coat of My Indie Polish My Perfect Matte. The lighting isn't the best in the bathroom where I took the pix but it seemed to be the best lighting to see all the colours in the flakies!

I'm on the fence which I like better; glossy or matte.  They both have appeal to me.  What do you think?

Back To School!

I'm sorry not to have posted in a week or so; I took a few days off around the long weekend and had a super long weekend and unfortunately, didn't have time to schedule any posts.  Thanks for hanging around still!

It's back to school time; in my area, school started on Tuesday although I know some other areas it started in August and some even earlier so I thought I would do some back to school nails!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of skittles using OPI Onyx, CND Yellow Bicycle, Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Beatnik, OPI My Wish List Is You and CND Green Scene.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Made a stamper decal using image from UberChic Uber mini:  School Is Cool, applied to index.  Then stamped more images from the same plate (middle and ring) using FF Gesso and MdU 11.  Then stamped images from Clear Jelly Stamper CJS-44 on thumb and pinky using same stamping polishes.  Added apple to index using same CJS-44 plate.

Added matte to thumb using My Indie Polish My Perfect Matte.

I noticed lots of police in the school zones the last few days; drivers should be cautious anyway but remember to slow down for the safety of the children!
