Digit-al Dozen Does Neon; Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen week; the theme is neon!  I'm not sure how well these nails translate in pix but in real life, they were absolutely stunning (IMHO!) if I don't say so myself!

Started with a base of one coats of Quo by Orly Rush.  There was enough coverage with one coat plus I knew I'd be sponging and stamping so there would be lots of polish base but the swatch may not be the prettiest!

Did gradient sponging using Quo by Orly Rush (darker purple) and Quo by Orly Hop Skip and Jump.

Top coated with KBShimmer prior to stamping.

Stamped using Funky Fingers Dark Knight using an image from MJ XLIV that I thought would showcase the base below.  Now that I'm looking at this pix, I wonder if the thumb image would look better the other way?

Digit-al Dozen Does Neon; Day 1

Welcome back to Digit-al Dozen week!  This month's theme is neon!  Personally, I think it is awesome that neon is the theme in the midst of the summer; I've been wearing so many neon mani's over the last few weeks that I have a good dozen or more to pick from to share now.  Picking just five to is going to be hard...but I'm sure the rest will be shown at some time!  This is one of my favourite mani's that I've done in a long time, sharing now for Day 1!

Started with a base of two coats of KBShimmer For Sail by Owner, no topcoat, with an accent of two coats of KBShimmer Foiled, again, no top coat.

Did a sponged gradient using KBShimmer In Yacht Water.

I even did a little sponging on my Cinderella hand!

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

I initially wanted some nice tropical florals on this but couldn't find an image for what I had in mind, so went with SdP 72.

Added a couple of studs on accent and topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish. I chose yellow and green as the polishes were leaning more this way (to me anyway) than blue and green even though blue was sponged on.  Plus the colours are brighter!

Here's the other ladies Day 1 neon mani's!

I will have to forewarn everyone that even though I mix up my mani's quite a bit day to day when I'm wearing them, it seems like for the neon ones, I did a lot of sponged gradients and lots of studs (which is no surprise to me as I'm loving the look of both right now!), but might be a little boring for sharing for the week but hopefully I'll be able to find enough variety to share....don't say you weren't warned lol!

Emily de Molly LE5

When I sat down to do my nails one night a month or so ago, I wanted a pretty base that I could do some quick stamping on for a quick mani change (aka, holo and a full size image is a nice, quick mani change when pressed for time as I've stated many times before!) Goodness knows, I have enough blue mani's in archives to do another month of blue manis, but my eye gravitated towards this stunner, Emily de Molly LE5.  So even though I had told myself no more wearing blue for a while, I still picked it up; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Emily de Molly LE5.  Holy moly; such gorgeousness!

Different lighting.

Stamped using Funky Fingers Gesso using an image from Marianne Nails n15.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Added a few studs for interest then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Different lighting; you can see the holo under the stamping a bit better!

Tomorrow starts Digit-al Dozen Week!  I've already seen a few of the Day 1 mani's posted by a couple ladies; they are awesome as always!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend; thanks for looking!

Nubar Peacock Feathers

It's hard to believe, but I used to go to a nail supply place that had the motherload of Nubar Peacock Feathers. They weren't terribly expensive; I used to buy a few when I was there and give them away as an extra in swaps I participated in on MUA.  So one day, I gave away my last bottle and went back to the supply place but they were all gone.  I think someone else found the magical supply and bought them up! No more were to be had because that happened around the time they discontinued it.  So I had to resort to eBay to get a bottle and let's just say I paid more for a bottle than I was buying them for at the nail supply place!  I think I eventually swapped for a back up bottle too.  I'm not sure why I have a backup; duochromes are OK but not my favourite finish and I'm sure I'll never finish the first bottle, never mind the backup.  I'm sure one of the bottles will show up on my blog sale, whenever I eventually get around to destashing. Anyway, one day back in the spring, I decided to go with something a little darker and decided upon Nubar Peacock Feathers; this is what I came up with!

Started with three coats of Nubar Peacock Feathers, no top coat.  Here's a lot of pix of Nubar Peacock Feathers; I took a lot to try to show it's many sides!

Topped with OPI The Man With a Golden Gun for some interest.

Topped with KBShimmer before stamping.

Stamped using MoYou Holy Shapes-08 using Funky Fingers Gesso.  I wanted an image that you could see the duochrome visible in the stamping, but try as I might, I couldn't get a good pix of the duochrome once the stamping was on.

Sorry for going crazy over the top in showing pix but hopefully someone out there appreciates them!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy (Belated) 4th of July!  I did these nails on Thursday night and was wearing them right up til last night; loved how they turned out!

Started with a base of two coats of Colors by llarowe Little Red Corvette.

Added Colors by llarowe Independence Day by sponging.

After topping with KBShimmer Clearly on Top, stamped with an image from FUN 17 using Funky Fingers Gesso.  I went with this image because it reminded me of those red, white and blue banners.

FUN 17

My other hand; really liked how this turned out too!

Added stamping to accent; Happy was from Bunny Nails HD-B and 4th was from Bundle Monster BM H-25.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Natural light pix the next day; this picture doesn't do the polishes justice.....it was so sparkly and glowing!

Hopefully anyone celebrating the 4th had a fabulous day!
