Digit-al Dozen Does Food; Day 2

It's Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen food week.  I've always had it in the back of my mind to do a mani with grapes (don't ask me why lol) so finally put something down on nails now that I had a reason with this challenge! Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of mishmash nails; starting at thumb, polishes used are L'Oreal Safari Chic, L'Oreal Sand Castle, Essie Full Steam Ahead and Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her; all two coats.

Sponged on middle and ring finger with Sally Hansen Mardi Grape (how appropriate lol!)

Topped all with KBShimmer Clearly on Top prior to stamping.

Added a few leaves from an image from FUN 15 using LA Colors Jungle Fever. I was concerned about it showing up on the thumb so first stamped it with chocolate brown, then lime green then the darker green.  Pretty cool effect, I think.

Added more stamping; used Infinity 25 on middle and FUN 15 on ring finger using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Added grapes using image from DRK XL Designer 2.  The darker grapes are stamped with Orly La Playa and the lighter on the thumb was a mix of Sally Hansen Mardi Grape and white.  I was trying to match the lilac colour on the gradient but got something totally different.  In hind sight, the darker colour probably would have showed up OK on the thumb.

Added coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

This is another one of those manis that I thought would look better matte so added coat of Essie Matte About You to finish.  I especially loved how the gradient turned out matte; need to do this again some time!

And while note the best job, I did other hand slightly different; really liked how it turned out too!

Digit-al Dozen Does Food; Day 1

Welcome back to Digit-al Dozen week!  This weeks theme is food!  I tried to think a little outside the box for my mani's; here's what I came up with for my first one!

Started by making a couple of stamper decals using images from MJ Special Edition.

For the base, did a very quick coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Big Teal.  Not the best swatch but I knew I'd be sponging.

Sponged on assortment of colours to finish base; Sally Hansen Mardi Grape, L'Oreal Indigo Classic, L'Oreal Sand Castle and Cover Girl 295.  Love the look of this so much!

Top coated using KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Applied the two stamper decals I made as well as stamped middle finger with an image from MoYou Bridal Collection-02.  Hand drew in the plate using black polish.  (Note to self; next time you make a stamper decal, wear your glasses lol).  My stamper decal wasn't the best but worked with it.  I can't say which polishes I used for the stamper decal as I was away for the weekend and did a lot of blending with what I had to come up with (what I hope was) close enough to the images.

MoYou Bridal Collection-02

Stamped on some spaghetti using image from MJ II and hand drew it in to Lady and The Tramp.

Added some meatballs on middle image and random hearts from Mdu Valentine's 3.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Though that images would show a little better with matte, so finished with a coat of Essie Matte About You.

Mint and Teal Sponging!

I did another sponged mani this past weekend and even remembered to bring Girly Bits Border Patrol to use this time which saved time in clean up!  Loving this colour combination; so much so that it's currently being used for some redecorating I've been busy with over the last few weeks!

I started with a base of two coats of Hard Candy Mint which was part of the 20th Anniversary collection.  I found the formula really thick and had to add drops of thinner to get a better consistency to apply.  Once I did it, application was a lot better.  I was a little on the fence how this mint would look with the teals I knew I'd be sponging with, but it did work out in the end as the colours complimented one another nicely (I think, anyway lol)

After applying Girly Bits Border Patrol, did gradient sponging using Quo by Orly Turquoise Moonlight and Essie Make Some Noise.  This was my second time using Girly Bits Border Patrol**; it is a latex based barrier. I've had way better removal with it versus other products I've tried which came off in bits and pieces versus one solid piece.  What I really like too is that it comes in a bottle with a brush which is good for application versus a sponge.  My application still wasn't the best and I got too close to the cuticle a couple times, so hopefully, will get the hang of applying it a little better.  I've heard that some of these latex based barrier products have an odour; the first time I used it, I didn't notice any odour at all; the second time being this occurrence, there was a faint whiff of odour when I first opened the bottle but it was minor, cleared almost immediately and I noticed nothing else even when I was applying it.  Now that I know I can apply it OK (as I've used a few other products but they came off in little pieces and took way longer to remove versus using nothing at all and having to do cleanup with brush and acetone), I want to buy a few bottles to have but wonder if it has a shelf life.  Like a time frame that it might go bad to speak like clump or something.  Anyone know?  I like to stock up on items and order all at once (mainly to save on shipping) but don't want to end up throwing out product. I just don't know enough about latex barrier products and haven't seen any mention of it any where.  Enquiring minds want to know!

After latex removal and some clean up; pix taken in the shade.  I dinged the tip of the ring finger when I was going removal but just sponged a little bit more at the tips to cover; it's slightly darker than he rest of the nails as a result and you can see the ding a little in this pix.

Added KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Stamped using Chez rectangles A001 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Chez rectangles A001.  This plate is the prototype plate but the image I stamped with is on the plate being offered for sale.

Finished with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Shade.  I really liked that the golden sparkle in Quo by Orly Turquoise Moonlight showed up so well considering it was sponged on.

I hope everyone is having a better week then I am!  It's like the full moon on the weekend made everyone cray-cray!  The only good thing so far about the week is the fun I've been having with decorating....but even it isn't going the best.  Why can't everything you want just be at one store so you don't have to run around to 1865656790 stores looking for things?  It was good exercise anyway lol!

Dance Legend Robots vs Humans

I'm not usually into brown; in fact, it probably is one of my least worn colours.  I'm not sure why I feel like I'm dissing LuLu at Elevation Polish when I disclose this, but I do lol!  Anyway, one day this spring, I was looking for a quick mani change (what else is new, right? lol) and went for my usual fast go to look; a holo with a full size image.  This is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Dance Legend Robots vs Humans, no top coat.  Dance Legend has superb holos and this one is no exception!

Different lighting.

Stamped using Infinity 116 using Mundo de Unas 43.

Infinity 116

Finished with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Just for fun, I checked the labels of my blog; this is now the 12th time I've posted in the brown category ....compared to say, blue that is at 120 or pink at 71.  For sure, don't wear a lot of brown!
