Summers Not Over Yet!

Today is one of the hottest days we've had this summer; thank goodness for air conditioning!  I thought I would share some super bright and fun summer nails to go along with this sizzlin' hot day we are having! Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats each of KBShimmer Beach Please (pink) and Sarong Lace (purple).  A word of caution; my camera did not like to photograph these polishes at all; you may notice the pink/purple shift in Beach Please and the two shades of purple on Sarong Lace ---- while very cool (I think) to look at in the pix, not so great if you are expecting this on your nail so make sure you do lots of swatch reviews if you are thinking of getting these!  Don't get me wrong; they are both fantastic polishes, but the shift is the camera, not the polish and I don't want anyone to be disappointed!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using FunkyFingers Gesso using an image from Chez Divers 002.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added a couple of white studs on accent nails.

Topped all with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Hope you are staying cool if you are anyplace where it's exceptionally hot today!

Digital Dozen Does Food; Day 5

The Digit-al Dozen has a special feature for everyone today!  We've teamed up for the Digit-al Dozen Diner! And oh, what a feast it is at the local diner!  All of the ladies have created their own aspect of the menu; be sure to check out the smorgasbord of items using the inlinkz link below!

I'm sharing the diner and waitress; I envisioned an traditional 50's type of diner with the jukebox in the corner that serves up amazing comfort food!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Using FunkyFingers Dark Knight, stamped on images from Chez 50's 003 (index and middle; it's one image spread over two fingers), Chez 50's 001 (ring) and MoYou Back to the 50's Collection-05 (thumb, pinky and words on ring).

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

MoYou Back to the 50's-05

Decided to highlight some areas of the nails; used the OPI yellow sheer tint; top coated to finish.

I didn't matte this one but think it would have added to the whole retro vibe!

Please be sure to check out the rest of the menu items following the inlinkz!  I know you are in for a tasty treat.....you'll have to loosen your pants for sure!!

Hopefully you've enjoyed Digit-al Dozen food week and had a chance to check out every one's amazing food and snacks!  I know it's my favourite week of the month!

Digit-al Dozen Does Food; Day 4

Day 4 of Digit-al Dozen food week features a yummy barbecue!  Although I'm not sure how good the food will be with all the flames on the barbecue lol!

Started with a base of two coats each of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Funky Fingers Dark Knight (no pix as have shown before).  Stamped using all images from Wistonia Summer Cookout with Mundo de Unas stamping polishes 11, 13, 59, FUN red and Funky Fingers Dark Knight and Gesso.

Using same stamping polishes and a brush, added a little colour to a few of the images.

Added a couple barbecue utensils to the ring for filler.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.  Had a bit of polish drag that I didn't notice at the time of stamping or could have corrected it but that is why it wasn't shown in the first pix.  Macro has no forgiveness!

Digit-al Dozen Does Food; Day 3

It's Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen food week; hopefully you've been able to check out the ladies awesome food nails over the last couple days!  And did you see they have a pizza party yesterday and I didn't go?  Quite a few of them did pizza and had a virtual pizza party which was pretty cool!

So continuing to think a little outside the box for food week, today's mani has the pineapple house that SpongeBob lives under the sea!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Nicole by OPI "Baby" Blue, no topcoat.

Did some water interest using L'Oreal Miss Pixie and OPI Sheer Tints I Can Teal You Like Me using brush.  I was impatient to do my nails because I didn't start painting til after midnight so a little blobby on index but I thought it would give some interest lol!

Added some sand  to the ocean floor using Zoya Godiva.

Added a few flowers for background interest using JR-20 and MoYou Tropical Collection-01.  I spent sooo much time looking for an image to use for these; little did I know that they would be lost with the stamping.  I custom made stamping colours by using MdU 11 and 30, then mixed right on the plate white.

I used several pix for inspiration but they were all along these lines.  These flowers are in most of the images and I was trying to mimic it!  While the other house didn't make it to my nails, I did have an image picked out to use for it too!

MoYou Tropical Collection-01.

JR-20

Stamped on the pineapple on middle using a mix of MdU 59 and 66 using an image from MoYou Tropical Collection-07 for bottom and MdU 48 for leaves.

MoYou Tropical Collection-07

Made stamper decals for Spongebob and Patrick using acrylic paints.  This is from 12-56S.

Goodness; I can't believe I missed a tooth!  I really should start to wear my glasses when doing this work lol!

Patrick was from an image on FUN 11.

Added both stamper decals to the nail.

On the pinky, I had planned to do other house, but decided instead to add Krusty Krab.  There is no image for this, so I used one from MoYou Sailor Collection-10 using red Konad stamping polish, then added eyes by freehand.  Filled in the pineapple to make the house using same Nicole by OPI base polish.

For filler, added some coral, seaweed and starfish from MoYou Sailor Collection-10 using MdU 66, 59, and 48.

Top coated to finish.

Added a bit more Zoya Godiva at tips for sand.  It was very late by the time I finished, so left as is and made by way to bed for the night.

This morning, I thought the detail might be a little better in matte so added coat of OPI Matte.  I think it washed out the colours too much and my personal preference is the shiny version, but this was OK too.

Digit-al Dozen Does Food; Day 2

It's Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen food week.  I've always had it in the back of my mind to do a mani with grapes (don't ask me why lol) so finally put something down on nails now that I had a reason with this challenge! Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of mishmash nails; starting at thumb, polishes used are L'Oreal Safari Chic, L'Oreal Sand Castle, Essie Full Steam Ahead and Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her; all two coats.

Sponged on middle and ring finger with Sally Hansen Mardi Grape (how appropriate lol!)

Topped all with KBShimmer Clearly on Top prior to stamping.

Added a few leaves from an image from FUN 15 using LA Colors Jungle Fever. I was concerned about it showing up on the thumb so first stamped it with chocolate brown, then lime green then the darker green.  Pretty cool effect, I think.

Added more stamping; used Infinity 25 on middle and FUN 15 on ring finger using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Added grapes using image from DRK XL Designer 2.  The darker grapes are stamped with Orly La Playa and the lighter on the thumb was a mix of Sally Hansen Mardi Grape and white.  I was trying to match the lilac colour on the gradient but got something totally different.  In hind sight, the darker colour probably would have showed up OK on the thumb.

Added coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

This is another one of those manis that I thought would look better matte so added coat of Essie Matte About You to finish.  I especially loved how the gradient turned out matte; need to do this again some time!

And while note the best job, I did other hand slightly different; really liked how it turned out too!
