Digit-al Dozen Does Re-creation of Digit-al Dozen; Day 2

It was really cool to check out everyone's blogs yesterday to see the mani's that the ladies recreated and how they interpreted; there were a lot of amazing mani's, that's for sure!

Here's what I came up for Day 2 which is a little bit of two ladies who did Raggedy Ann and Andy doll mani's for past challenges.

Adventures in Acetone did Raggedy Ann and Andy for Vintages and A Little Polish did a verions as well for Childhood; I took a little bit of inspiration from both for my recreation! Darn it, I just noticed as I'm doing the post I missed the black dots on the red dots!  Whooops!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Vampire is Buff with blue accent of China Glaze License & Registration Pls.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Using a the biggest dotter I have, added random dots on accents.  Then I made a custom stamping polish directly on the plate to try to match the blue on my nails as well as the stamper decals I had premade. Stamped on an image from Handy 24 on pinky then did a second image using red Konad special polish.

Added smaller dots with a slightly smaller dotter using red Konad special polish.

These are the stamper decals I made using images from MJ XVI and acrylic paints.  Not the best but I'm surprised I did this good; the images are so small the it was hard to fill in even with my smallest brush.

Here's the three stamper decals I made although I didn't end up using the pair.  It was really hard to paint so small images so not the best plus they look like angry, scary, going out to trick or treat with Chucky dolls!

Added Raggedy Ann and Andy stamper decals.  I somewhat messed up here because I top coated my whole nail before applying the decal but the decal wasn't the size of the entire nail.  So I smooshed up the top coat all over the nail when applying the decal.  To fix this, had to add a really thick coat of top coat which is why there are so many bubbles (I think).

My solution for bubble coverage was to add dots!  So made more custom polish for the dots and used red Konad.

Top coated with KBShimmer to finish.

Digit-al Does Re-Creation of Digit-al Dozen; Day 1

Welcome back to Digit-al Dozen week!  I'm sorry I didn't get around to posting more indie mani's; I have lots to share still and they will show up some time as indies aren't going from the blog anytime soon!

This month's theme for Digit-al Dozen is re-creation of Digit-al Dozen mani's.  As I have no free hand skills to speak of at all and didn't want to recreate another ladies stamping mani, I decided to take a free hand mani and put my stamping spin on it!  So my mani will never be 100% like the mani's I'm re-creating as the mani I'm re-creating will be freehand and mine will be stamped.

Here's my Day 1 Digit-al Dozen Re-creation Mani with inspiration from Ashley Is PolishAddicted!

I recreated the M & M's mani featured by Ashely is Polish Addicted in the Digit-al Dozen Does Food challenge last month.

I made a few stamper decals to start using an image from FUN 7 and acrylic paints.

Even thought I was pretty sure the decal would cover most of the nail, there were a few little voids so did one coat of Essie Snap Happy with top coat before applying the decal.

Once the decal is dried, it is removed from the stamper.  It is curved the opposite way of the nail, so I invert them gently (as much as possible) so they are the same curve as my nail, and cut them down a big before applying as they are easier to apply with less decal.  I used a coat of KBShimmer on the nail then apply the decal.

All decals are applied and top coated.  I see a few areas now that could have been cleaned up better but not bad!

I did a single stamper decal of a single M & M for the accent using same FUN 7 image plate.

Added stamping of words using white Konad special polish using image from MJ XIV and top coated to finish.

Did my right hand a little different; this would be cool with skittles I think!

We have some exciting new in the Digit-al Dozen as well!  The super talented Mina from Cubbiful has joined the Digit-al Dozen!  You may be familiar with her nail art but if not, please visit her blog to check out lots of awesome mani's!  And she'll be joining in future Digit-al Dozen mani's too...maybe even this week but not sure and don't want to pressure her as she just joined!  lol!

Here's the other ladies Day 1 mani's!

Pahlish Mystery

Today's post continues to highlight indie polishes; this is a Pahlish Mystery that is absolutely stunning!  The last time I ordered a few Pahlishes polishes, I added a couple mystery polishes to the cart.  When you get them, it's like a box of chocolates; you never know what you are going to get!  I fell for this mystery polish hard; it might be my most favourite Pahlish ever!  It is a gorgeous dusty medium blue; when I opened it, I thought it was just a blue base with gold flakies (and was happy with that!).  But in fact, when I sat down to do my nails, was pleasantly surprised to discover it has other colours of shimmer (or maybe fine glitter; I'm not a polish maker!) and there's even a slight holo!

Started with two coats of Pahlish Mystery?

Top coated with KBShimmer before stamping.

Bottle shot.

To accent the gold in the polish, stamped using CND Gold Chrome using an image from UberChic Hipster-01.

UberChic Hipster-01

Added a couple studs to accent then top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

A close up.  Droool!!!!

Lastly, an outdoor pix in the sun when you can see the slight holo just a little better.

I feel badly showing this beauty when only a few will be able to get it but it is too gorgeous not to share!  I don't know how many bottles were made but know more than this bottle exist because I've seen it posted in other Pahlish FB groups; my hope to everyone who might want a bottle is that it is a prototype to a Pahlish that is to be released (or already released, but I'm not familiar enough with all the Pahlishes to say it is x polish.)  If someone knows, please let me know and I will update this post!

The Lazy Days of Summer Are Over!

Today was back to high school for my youngest son and thousands of others; I thought instead of doing a more traditional back to school mani that I'd do a kids at play and the end of summer fun kind of mani instead.  But if the truth be known, if my son is any indication of today's youth, he spent a good portion of the summer either on the computer or playing video games versus outside at play like these kids! This is probably more typical of kids in my day when we were outside from morning to dusk!

Started with a base of one coat of Chaos & Crocodiles Unicorn Symphony, no top coat.

Did a sponged gradient using Colors by Llarowe That Bloo is Mine and Chaos and Crocodiles City in the Clouds and Unicorn Symphony.

I loved how this gradient turned out!  If it wasn't so down to the wire that I did these last night and wanted to post for first day of school today, I would have done a nautical mani for sure!  Next time!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Stamped using images from FUN 16 and Pet'la LE Silhouette.  It was an afterthought to do the tree images on the middle and ring but I think it is so cool how split between the fingers!  Stamping polish is Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

FUN 16

Filled in some black voids with brush and polish as well as did kite string (and didn't line it up very well from thumb to index....that kite isn't going any place lol!).  But it looks like the kinds on the index are manning the kite and the kids on the thumb somewhat look like they are fishing.  I'll go with it!

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I like this pix simply because it looks like the kids are playing at night and the stars are twinkling in the night sky in the back ground.  But of course, children should be home this late at night!

I thought the stamping would show up a little better without glare and gloss so used a coat of OPI matte to finish it off.

Sorry for the mess of my nails; I cringe looking at them but still like to do my nails anyway!
