Digit-al Dozen Does Traditions; Day 3

Here we are at Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen week with the theme of traditions.  This is a mani I did based upon our family watching all the holiday movies on TV this time of year; even though the kids are all grown up, we still enjoy watching our favourite shows!

Started with a gradient of KBShimmer I'd Rather Be With Blue by Cosmetic Sanctuary, Sky Jinx and Soul Deep.  The thumb is Misslyn Lemon Green, CND Green Scene and Essence We Love Winter Holidays!

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

For some seasonal interest, did some snow using an image from Chez Hiver A001 (it's kinda sad I had to stamp this on, isn't it lol!)

Chez Hiver A001

Top coated before adding stamper decals.

I made a few stamper decals.....

....then added them to fingers.  Plates used are Sugar Bubbles SBS 08 (thumb), Navidad 3 (middle), Infinity 13 (ring) and MJ VI (pinky).  Index finger is from MR-01 using a custom mix of MdU 23 and 57.  All stamped images were originally stamped using FunkyFingers Dark Knight and filled in with acrylic paints once dry.  Rudolph's nose is Girly Bits Fire Engine Red Stamping Polish.

Added a flower to Frosty's hat using dots and A Charlie Brown Christmas wouldn't be complete without the Charlie Brown Christmas tree that was hand painted in then dotted in a few ornaments.

Added a bunch of random snowflakes from BFF Natal using FunkyFingers Gesso.

I couldn't resist; my favourite image!

Finished with a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TD to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Traditions; Day 2

It's Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen week with the theme of traditions.  This is another long standing tradition in our family; putting up stockings for Santa to fill on Christmas Eve.  Even the family dog has a stocking!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Earl Gray; this has no top coat.

Added coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Made a fireplace using images from Bunny Nails HD-I; stamping polish is Mundo de Unas Mdu 59.  I really liked the look on the middle and ring finger and was disappointed when it I got the fuller images on the inky and ring.  This might be the only time I'm happy when an image doesn't stamp as well as it should.

Added top coat to all fingers except thumb in preparation of applying stamper decals.

Tried to make my fireplace a little bit more realistic by hand painting in some flames using Mdu 11, 53 and Girly Bits Fire Engine Red Stamping Polish.

For the stockings, I had made stamper decals using images from BundleMonster BM-S219.  Stamping polishes used were all newly released Girly Bits stamping polishes; Girly Bits Fire Engine Red and Emerald, White Wedding.  Filled in the stamper decals using acrylic paints.

BundleMonster BM-S219

Added a line of string to the stockings then top coated.

Added a coat of Girly Bits Polish Matte'rs to finish.

This is my right hand which had the same base but different stamping.  Base is Sally Hansen Earl Gray then stamped using image from BunnyNails HD-I.  Stamping polish is Girly Bits Emerald and dotted using Girly Bits Fire Engine Red.

Digital Dozen Does Traditions; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  This month, our theme is traditions.  While they don't have to be centered around the holidays, because its so close to Christmas, all mine will be (I think, because I haven't finished all five yet; but that's the plan anyway lol).  For Day 1, I did a mani based on leaving a letter along with milk and cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve, and carrots for the reindeer.  I did this as a child, as did my children. Some years, we even left Santa an onion because 'Santa' hates onions lol.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Pure Ice Shore Bet, two coats, no top coat.

Added coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

I wanted a little bit of background interest for the stamper decals i had made but not enough to overpower the images; went with an image from Messy Mansion MM40 using MoYou Falcon.  Top coated before applying stamper decals (no pix, as this post has enough lol).

I made five stamper decals for using images from Mundo de Unas MdU Christmas 3 (centre and ring), FUN 20 (index), Cheeky Home Sweet Home Jumbo 7 (pinky) and Big SdP P (no pix here because I messed up my first decal so had to make a second but continued along with the mani in interest of time).  For stamping polishes, used Girly Bits Emerald and FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  Filled in the stamping using assortment of acrylics.

Mundo de Unas MdU Christmas 3

Added assortment of dots on the Christmas tree for interest.

My two favourite nails!

Added words from BundleMonster BM-S217 and snowflakes for filler.  I used the clear jelly stamper for the work placement but unfortunately,  the 'AS' at the end of Christmas didn't stamp well, so tried to remove it, then restamped just those two letters.

BundleMonster BM-S217

It was late by the time I finishedand my second thumb stamper decal wasn't dry enough to apply.  So in the morning, added the stamper decal on the thumb.

Thought that this decals would look better matte; added coat of OPI matte to finish.

I love how this turned out but it was a lot of work looking through plates, then planning all the nails, doing the decals, filling them, waiting for them to dry,  etc etc.  It would be nice to do something this creative every day but simply not enough time!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas Does Winter

Well, it's Friday and that means 40 Great Nail Art Ideas.  This weeks theme is winter; nothing screams winter more than snow which is what I used as the inspiration for this mani; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of KBShimmer I'd Rather Be With Blue by Cosmetic Sanctuary with accent of KBShimmer Snow Much Fun.  While I started with the two coats for the glitter, I did find it patchy plus the glitter placement was sometimes sparse in some areas and clumpy in others, so eventually I added blobs here and there until there was full coverage and glitter interest where I felt it was needed.

Did a sponged gradient with KBShimmer Soul Deep, Sky Jinks and I'd Rather Be With Blue.

Top coated before stamping with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using FunkyFingers Gesso using assortment of image plates; Sugar Bubbles SBS 08 (middle and pinky plus random flakes on thumb), Bunny Nails HD-F (words on thumb) and UberChic UC Christmas-01 on ring and index.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Here's the rest of the ladies awesome winter mani's!

Have a great weekend; thanks for looking!

Stamped Multicoloured Stripes

If you've seen the past mani's I've done using nail vinyls, you''ll know what my use of them is still a work in progress to say the least!.  I love the look of them though especially with multicolours, so thought I might be able to stamp on some lines using image plates better and faster.  To be honest, I but can't say for sure I accomplished either one of those things with these nails!   This is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Polish II Come Later.  This pix has no topcoat.  I found this polish at my local beauty supply for $2 and you can bet I picked up all my favourite colours!  They are a little on the thin side for application but I prefer that; but they build well and cleanup is a breeze!

Top coated.

For the stamping, used the lines from BP-L009 but turned them sideways to stamp.  I used three Mundo de Unas polishes, #1, #2 and #33.

These straight lines can be troublesome with squishy stampers; I didn't do too bad except on the middle finger.  Because I did these nails before work one morning, I decided I could live with them but if I had time, I would have removed the middle nail stamping and stamped again.

Top coated to finish.  I should add that while I found these easier to do then nail vinyls, they still aren't perfect, and on a hardness scale from 1 to 10, these would be an 11. There's just so much that can go wrong; applying the polish so that it intermingles onto another line, scraping is straight, picking it up then transferring it onto the nail straight AND  with the lines straight, not all over the place.  That being said, I might be giving nail vinyls another go lol!

I do like how these turned out thought; the imperfections aren't that noticeable in real life.
