Digit-al Dozen Does Spring; Day 4

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This mani is doing double duty for the occasion as well as day 4 of the Digit-al Dozen spring challenge just because I really wanted to post a St. Patrick's Day mani today and had no time to do another mani more in line with spring for the challenge (plus still have to get up my day 3 post as it is; the nails are done but the blog post is not!).  So this will have to do.  It's a little busy, but busy is probably my blogger middle name lol! Here's what I came up with!

For the base, used OPI Don't Mess With OPI (thumb and pinky), Nerd Lacquer Thistledown (ring and index) and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (middle).  All two coats, top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

I did the white base for a water marble design that would have been the background for some stamping, but try as I might, the water marble gods were not with me and I had no luck with doing a proper design.  After the third attempt, I just took what was in the water, swirled it around, dipped my finger in and hoped for the best.  It wasn't that bad; in fact, who knows, this might have been better than the real water marbling. Anyway, it was late and I had spent enough time on it so just ran with it.

I had made some decals last weekend; the rainbow is freehand using acrylic paints.  The decal was topped with Sally Hansen Hard As Nails and it was pretty dry and brittle by the time I used it last night, so it cracked and ripped in a few places when I peeled it off the stamper.  I smooshed it onto the nail with my finger as best as I could and quickly top coated to try to get the cracks to fill.  Its ok but not the best.  There's actually rainbow stamps out there; don't ask me why I decided to free hand it lol.  I thought it would be simple enough to do but am sure stamps would have been neater.  The other two decals are using images from Messy Mansion MM04 and assortment of paints and polishes.  Stamped image on the pinky is from MoYou Festive 21 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

(I actually kinda dig this look without all the extra stamping.)

MoYou Festive Collection 21

(Love, love, love the 17 image; I really wanted to use it for this mani if only I had six fingers!  I did next best thing by putting it on Cindy.)

Stamped image on the middle using another image from Messy Mansion MM04 using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.  The words on the thumb are from Moyra Stamping Plate 09-Celebration.  Added a few random shamrocks for filler using another image from Messy Mansion MM04. Placed with clear jelly stamper.

After some touch ups, finished with a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.  In hindsight, I should have put the sparkly hat on the dark green cream base and the pot of gold on the lighter green which would have made both stand out a little more but I guess I didn't plan it out well.  Next time!

I did my other hand a little different; base is two coats of OPI I'm Soooo Swamped with images from MoYou Festive Collection-21.

Digit-al Dozen Does Spring; Day 2

For day 2 of the spring challenge, I did these cute bluebells which are one of the earlier blooming plants in spring!  Here's what I came up with!

Instead of going with my go to white creme base, I decided to change it up with texture for a little something different. Started with a base of two coats of Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Sugar Fix, shown with no top coat to preserve the texture look.  I made the second coat a little too thick resulting in the texture not being as evident as I would have liked but its not bad.

After it was dry, stamped using BC15 using MdU 3 and 39.

Did some lead lighting directly on the nail using L'Oreal Jolly Lolly .  I did the lady bug by itself first just for the bright pop of colour.

Did more lead lighting and shading with a couple of the OPI Sheer Tints.  No top coat to preserve the texture.

Digit-al Dozen Does Spring; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  This month's theme is spring!  The first thing that 'springs' to mind when I think of spring is flowers!  So I decided to do some tulips for day 1; this is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Essie Blossom Dandy, shown below with no top coat.  Two coats didn't fully provide coverage but thought that the decals I had made in advance would provide enough coverage.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC then waited a bit to make sure nails were fully dry. Don't mind that stray glitter on the index that I guess was in my top coat left over from a previous mani lol!

I made stamper decals using images from SB 039 and Infinity 131; outline was Funky Fingers Dark Knight and filled with assortment of acrylic paints.

Aren't they pretty?  Unfortunately, I couldn't get the full accent decal to fit on my ring finger so I cut it down a bit and used what would fit.  I used what was left to accent my right hand.

Applied decals.

Started with a base of two coats of Zoya Robin.

Another Mani Featuring EDM10

Here's another mani highlighting an image from Emily de Molly EDM10**.  With the use of latex barrier, clean up for sponged gradients has never been easier so I find I've been doing them more often.  I've been spicing them up with a little glitter or holo interest lately just to make them a little bit more interesting.  I think this colour combination and stamping worked well with the holo adding that little bit of extra umph!  This is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI Taylor Blue; no pix as have shown before here.  Did a sponged gradient using it, Orly Midnight Show and Anonymous Lacquer Baby Vamp.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using an image from Emily de Molly EDM10.  This is another one of those images that has lots of voids so you can see the beauty of the polish base through yet is a pretty interesting image all by itself. This would also be a perfect image to make a stamper decal.  Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Emily de Molly stamping plates and vinyls can be purchased via their store here with international shipping from Australia. There is also a US Emily de Molly estore here that also ships plates and polishes to US and Canada. Emily de Molly products are also available via these stock lists with many offering international shipping!

St. Patrick's Day Mani

With St. Patrick's Day being 9 short days away, I thought I should get around to sharing a mani.  I'm not sure how many St. Patrick's Day mani's I'll have time to share between now and then, but hopefully there will be more to come!  I have one planned for the 17th if nothing else! Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of OPI Don't Mess With OPI and Noodles Nail Polish Clovers and Coins; both two coats and shown with no top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

I mixed a custom colour on the plate, Messy Mansion MM4, to match the OPI (as best as I could anyway) using MdU 7 and 48.  Topped with QD TC.  This is my favourite look of the bunch!

I wanted to do some stamping on the green base too but wasn't sure what to do; ended up using same image from Messy Mansion MM4 plate using Funky Fingers Gesso.  Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

This ended up being a little bit busier than I wanted when it was finished, but I don't mind busy!

Champagne Dancefloor by CANVASlacquer

Loving the exotic look of this mani with another polish received from CANVASlacquer** for review!

Started with a base of two coats of Champagne Dancefloor by CANVASlacquer, no top coat. Champagne Dancefloor is a creamy peach loaded with gold shimmer; there were no application issues and two coats gave opaque coverage.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Decided to do a gradient using Champagne Dancefloor with KBShimmer For Fox Sake.  What was really interesting with the sponging is that a lot of the gold shimmer sponged on the nail, making this beautiful, vibrant gold shimmer for the lower half of the gradient.  I love this colour combination!

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using an image from Nail Matinee NM05 using Funky Fingers Gesso.  I used the clear jelly stamper for placement; this is the perfect example of why the concept of the jelly stamper works so well as never in a million years would I have been able to place the image just so and centred so well!  All the lining up credit goes to the jelly stamper!  I picked this image to give the mani added interest while allowing the beauty of the golden shimmer to shine on the nail unobscured!

I'm sorry that my nails are so ill shaped in these pix; I didn't even notice until I was posting these pictures so I hope that I didn't offend anyone too badly!

CANVASlacquer products are available here; they are made in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and ship internationally to select countries.
