Digit-al Dozen Does Whimsy; Day 4

These whimsical nails are for day 4 of Digit-al Dozen whimsy week!

Started with a base of two coats of Pahlish Menthe Glaciale, no top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using an image from Big SdP C using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Dotted flowers using Love, Angeline Rhythm in Aquamarine which has the same colours but in glitter form which I think was a nice compliment to the creme.

Decided I wanted a little bit more bling so dotted some of the leaves on the smaller flowers then dotted centres with white as needed.

I was going to add some metal studs to the accent but then thought I would do some line striping using the same Love, Angeline polish.

Finally did something OK looking with nail vinyls!

Then got to thinking that some round studs might fit in the area left and they did so added them to make the accent stand out a bit more.  Go big or go home!

Topped everything off with a final coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Digit-al Dozen Does Whimsy; Day 3

This post post should probably be called "50 Tips on How NOT to Water Marble" but Simply Nailogical already did a post here about water marbling fails and I don't think we need another post or video about it! Anyway, here's my dismal water marbling fail for Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen does whimsy!

I've tried water marbling a few times now; the very first time that I tried it was by far the best end result and even then it wasn't that good.  I've tried several times since then using not only Pipe Dream Polishes but others and the only polishes I can get somewhat decent to marble are the Pipe Dreams.  I'm sure this is user error and hopefully one day I'll get better at it, but for now, Pipe Dreams it is.  So started with these Pipe Dreams to create the water marble, which were over a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

No pix of finished water marble as some were really bad and the stamping covered the fails BUT I had this happen to my index finger on my first attempt to stamp on top of the water marbling.  I'm guessing it was from too much wet polish from the water marbling and smudged when I stamped.  So while I was doing cleanup, removed it and redid another water marble design on it.

I had exactly the same thing happen on the index finger again but this time, I just straightened and smooshed it as best I could like it was a decal because by this time, it was 1:30 am last night when I did these and I really needed to be getting to bed; just didn't have time to do it a third time.  Whatever I couldn't smoosh to cover the nail, I filled in with black polish.  So this is Chez Delany Papillons 001 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight stamped over the water marble base, no top coat.  And poor clean up but I was too tired to do better.  Note to self:  I knew it wasn't a good thing to sit down after 11 p.m. to do a water marble.

I think this mani might be OK to reattempt once I master, or even half master, water marbling.  Until then, sorry you had to see it!

Digit-al Dozen Does Whimsy; Day 2

For Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen whimsy week, I did what I thought would be a whimsical activity like kite flying thinking of the wind blowing and the kite dancing all around in the wind!

Started with a base of two coats of Kiara Sky The Real Teal, no top coat (no pix as I did these nails quickly before work this morning!)  Sponged on Kiara Sky Skies The Limit and Angelacq Lacquer Spectrum Blue.

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

I placed an image from FUN 16 for base interest as well as the representation of the wind swirling around. Used MoYou London Dusty Cloud stamping polish.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before adding final stamping.

Stamped another image from FUN 16 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  Hand drew in the kite line to connect the fingers.  Also hand filled in some voids on the thumb.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Whimsy; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  This month's theme is whimsy and it might be one of the hardest challenges so far! This is what I came up with!

By defintion, whimsey is:

whimsy

or whimsey

[hwim-zee, wim-]

nounplural whimsies.
1.
capricious humor or disposition; extravagant, fanciful, or excessively playful expression:
a play with lots of whimsy.
2.
an odd or fanciful notion.
3.
anything odd or fanciful; a product of playful or capricious fancy:
a whimsy from an otherwise thoughtful writer.

So I took this mani as my interpretation of being playful and went with it! I'm not 100% sure if it really is whimsy or if any of the other mani's I've done for the week are whimsy either for that matter, but just pretend it is for the week in case, ok?

Started with a base of two coats of FunkyFingers Dark Knight (no pix as have shown before).  Stamped using an image from Yours YS11 using Esmaltes da Kelly stamping polishes in Bee, Chuvisco, Icaro, Cleo and Dixie.  Shown below with no top coat.

I did my other hand lightly different and liked how it turned out.  The idea for the left hand was for it to be a gradient of stamping so the colours would mix a bit more on each of the nails but it didn't happen that way.  I liked how the index finger stamped though so used the same part of the image on all on the nails here on the right hand.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas Does Floral

TGIF!  While I'm always happy to see the arrival of the weekend, this is one week when I didn't think it would ever get here!  Work has pretty much kicked my butt this week; been working long hours and not doing much else; not even my nails!  Friday's arrival also means its another 40 Great Nail Art Ideas mani; this week's theme is floral. This is an somewhat of an odd colour combination but I think it turned out great!

Started with a base of two coats of Butter London Two Fingered Salute shown with no top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Stamped using images from UberChic 1-02 using Mdu 21.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Totally random, but I took these pix of a couple window planters in Georgetown, Ontario when I was there a couple weeks ago.  Love them!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas Does 3 Shades of Red/Orange

Here's the nails I did for 40 Great Nail Art Ideas with this weeks theme of 3 shades or red/orange; I had added prompt of roses.

These were the three polishes I chose; piCture pOlish Citrus, Sonia Kashuk Tango Mango and piCture pOlish Vegas.

Started with a coat of two coats of piCture pOlish Citrus; shown with no top coat.

After applying latex barrier, did a gradient using all three polishes on all fingers except the ring, which was a radial gradient.

After removing latex and some clean up.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping after doing a bit more clean up!

UberChic UC 4-02

Stamped all fingers using UberChic UC1-02 except accent which was UberChic UC 4-02 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

I noticed a random dot on a petal on the middle nail that was driving me crazy so took a bit of acetone on a brush and removed it.  If only I had have noticed the stray fibre earlier on in the mani!

Here's the other ladies 3 shades of red/orange; everyone has different prompts so you will see quite a bit of variety!
