Digit-al Dozen Does Colours; Day 1

It's day 1 of Digit-al Dozen week and our theme this month is colours!  Or colors, depending on how you spell it!  I don't think I have ever done a mani so fitting of a theme; this was actually a base that I had done for an Easter mani that I had in mind, but I couldn't find a negative space Easter egg image that I liked for it.  So it was spun into another mani.  I didn't do it specifically for this challenge but when I seen the colour theme was upcoming, I saved sharing it until now!  Here's what I came up with!

After applying a coat of OPI MBSW, started with a smooshy stamper base of KBShimmer Beach Please, All the Bright Moves and Great Lakes Lacquer The Fashion Artist.  It looks like way more polishes than this but this they either smooshed into different colours or I didn't note the rest.

Applied KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from BM-XL456 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Here's the other ladies Day 1 colour mani's!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

Started with a stamper smooshy base using all Morgan Taylor polishes:  Strike A Posie, Pop-Arazzi Pose, Pretty As A Pink-Ture and Lip Service.  I was able to do all nails with the polish from one smoosh which made them pretty even looking after applying the base of the lightest polish.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using images from Lina Feeling Shapely! 02 (pinky), Lina Let's Doodle 01 (index), Lina Born to Said 01 (ring) and Lesly Butterflies (thumb and middle) using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  This is sooo pretty to me just as it is!

Lesly Butterflies.

Stamped words on index using image from UberChic UC mini: Mother's Day a few times with different pinks but they weren't dark enough to show the words up but they were a good enough base to stamp over with white, then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Have a good day if you are celebrating in one form or another!  Or even if you're not, this may give you inspiration for another mani anyway!

Purple Double Stamp Floral

I love these eye catching nails on one of my favourite go to bases!  And the best part is they are easy as pie!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Different Dimensions Kiss Me Under The Light of a Thousand Stars, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

This was one of those nights that I didn't have much time to do my nails but still wanted to change them so was going with simple mani of purple stamped floral on the holo base (my go to pretty much when I can't quickly decide to wear on my nails.  Pretty neutral to me!).  So pulled a few different purples.  On my test (right) hand, I had stamped using Mdu 101 which was the light lilac shade but it was too light of a shade for the image to show well.  So then I stamped with MdU 14 which  was the navy and it was good.  So when I stamped on top of the MdU 14 on the test nail, I'm like-this is amazing!  Nice light and dark contrast and you can still see all the sparkle and holo goodness from the base through.  These were my colours!

Stamped using MdU 101 using image from MoYou Flower Power 20.

Then stamped again using same image using MdU 14.  I didn't shadow stamp, just randomly restamped the image however it laid on the nail because it didn't really matter as the base stamping was just another coloured background for interest and I still wanted the base polish to shine through.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

This is everything I love about stamping; quick and easy, interesting image, colourful and still see base polish shine through!

Beachy Fluid Art!

I know it's Tuesday and not Friday but I did share some fluid art on Friday over on my instagram account, just didn't get around to sharing what had been stamped on it yet.  So I thought I would get this post done of the stamping and the fluid art base now before too many other posts got in the way!

Last week on IG, I had seen a couple stories about a colour scheme that had been chosen by @damningeden and @nailartaddict_em and remembered that I had a fluid art trial from a few weeks ago that would probably be close enough to fit the challenge so decided to share it too!  This is the base and the stamping!

This is the fluid art (in the middle; the ones to the left and right were total fails but you never know if you got the DIY formula right until you try it!).  You may recall from a post here a few weeks ago that I had been making fluid nail polishes and this was one of the trials.  While not the best, it did have cells as you can see although they weren't overly prominent on the nail.

Here's what it looked like once applied.  Unfortunately, I didn't keep track of the polishes used as I pretty much spent a weekend making fluid polishes through trial and error using my less expensive brand of polishes.  And you can see a couple cracks in the base but I had applied a yellow base coat ahead of applying the decals.  The other thing to keep in mind is this polish base has been on a container lid for over a month so it was starting to get brittle and wasn't as pliable as if it had just been made which is why there is the odd crack here and there. But it still seemed to bend enough to fit the nail so I decided to use it but there were a couple issues.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using images from Moyra 66-Exotique (middle and thumb), Lina 4 Seasons-Summer 03 (index), Sugar Bubbles SB 065 (ring and any birds you see on any nail) and Sugar Bubbles SB 031 (pinky) using MdU 2.  The words on the index finger were shadow stamped using MdU 2 and 11.

While I really like the fluid look of these types of nails, I find applying the cut out decals pretty time consuming and then there is all the clean up needed, even if I do trim them down quite a bit.  And it never fails that I have some colour in the decal that is horrible for clean up!  The other thing to point out for this mani is it was one of those that it looks great in the pix but just looking at it on the nail, it looked like a hot mess as the images aren't very obvious unless you are looking pretty close to the nail.  Overall, I think it turned out OK!

May The 4th Be With You!

May the 4th be with you!  I wasn't sure I'd get these nails done today; I woke up late and then spent most of the day doing household chores and just had a chance to do these around 3 pm today.  But at least they will get posted today!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Colors by Llarowe Burnout, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Sponged on galaxy nails using LAGirls Disco Brites Hustle, Groovy, Platforms and FunkyFinger Gesso.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with image from MdU Star Wars using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Mundo de Unas Star Wars.

Double stamped accent nail using CNF with Fig Tree Stamps.

Applied stamper from MdU Star Wars on all nails except pinky, which is from Pet'la LE Space.

Finished with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Happy Star Wars Day!

Butterflies!

Just like I've been obsessed with floral nails lately, I went through a butterfly stage back in the fall.  A few other mani's will show up eventually but I really liked how these turned out!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Color Club It's Going to be Major, no top coat.  Love this shade!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using FunkyFingers Gesso using image from SugarBubbles SB 040.

Double stamped using image from Kelly Negri KN7 using EdK Tuco.

After doing some brush work filling in a few spots, stamped accent with Marianne Nails n.104 using same EdK Tuco, then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

You know me and my love for busy nails so decided to triple stamp more little butterflies here and there using Marianne Nails n.104 using FunkyFingers Gesso.  Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.
