Digit-al Dozen Does Vacation; Day 2

This base might look familiar as I shared is last Friday for the #fluidfridayfriends and it's doing double duty as it's also the base for my day 2 Digit-al Dozen vacation mani!  There is nothing I like better when I'm on holiday then sitting by the pool and/or lake and/or ocean and reading and/or swimming and/or drinking.  And while I don't own a boat now, I did up until a couple years ago and again, it was another favourite thing to do when on vacation.  Here's what I came up with!

I did a fluid art base using Orly Dazzle, OPi Suzi-San Climbs Fiji-San and OPI My Paprika is Hotter Than Yours, then topped it with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  I already shared the base of these nails here if you're interested in them without stamping.  Stamped using images from Infinity 61 using FunkyFingers Gesso.  Topped with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I thought that the base and the shimmer from the Orly Dazzle may show up a little better with matte top coat, plus I received my Glisten & Glow order and wanted to give their matte a whirl, so topped with a coat of Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat.  I had ordered this because I had read somewhere that it can be used for stamping to make the image matte; I haven't done that yet but will be soon!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vacation; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week and our theme this month is vacation!  So I did some pretty literal vacation nails featuring travelling any place in the world, flying or cruising; however, you do it, its up to you!  This covers even if you stay-cation!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Fancy Gloss Neon Blue and a gradient of Fancy Gloss Tiffany and Cornflower.  Unfortunately, my base wasn't dry on the gradient and some lifted but I knew I'd be stamping on top enough to cover it so I left it but it does have a bald spot in some of these pictures.

I had made a couple fluid art decals but not all the area of the decals worked so cut out a couple of the areas and decided to use them as accent nails.  Then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using AK 19 using MdU 52 on index and middle; the rest are UberChic Vacation Mode using MdU 1 and 11.



AK 19.  I love these small images for my small nails.  I love too how I can pretty much get the entire world on two nails versus other plates where I can't fit them on all five!  It leaves for some other images to make the nails more interesting!

UberChic Vacation Mode.  If you are going on vacation, this is pretty much the only plate you need.  It has oodles of vacation imagery!

Green Floral and Stripes

Sometimes I surprise myself when a mani is finished; I start with one thing in mind and it ends up totally different!  This is one of those; this really isn't my 'style' of nails but I loved how it turned out when it was all done.  In fact, I've done a few spins on this mani since (some shared already, some not) but this was the one that started it.  It's obviously my style now lol!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Turtle Tootsies Turn Off The Lights!, no top coat.  I picked this up last year at 2018 Indie Expo Canada in Toronto.  2019 IEC will be held on August 18th with workshops taking place on August 17th.  Do you plan on attending?  

Topped with a thin layer of Fiendish Fancies Princess Without A Voice.  This was a press sample that I received at 2018 Indie Expo Canada; I liked it so much that I bought a full size bottle!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped stripes using Lina Born To Sail 01 using EdK Lili and flowers using Lina Feeling Shapely! 08 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Added dots to flower centers using EdK Lili.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

While I liked the look of the nails, I decided to add more flowers to the striped nails; used same image from Lina Feeling Shapely! 08 using FunkyFingers Gesso, then stamped using EdK Lili.  Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I'm kinda obsessed with fluid art right now; I love all the different looks that the fluid art creates!  Plus an interesting base for stamping!  So I again did a mani based upon the colour palette chosen for this week!  

Here's the colour palette for this week.

I used Orly Dazzle, OPI My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours and OPI Suzi-san Climbs Fuji-san with clear DYI fluid polish.

The results!  The decals are like mini pieces of art so had to share!

I cut out the pieces I wanted to use on my nails with extra options.

After doing a quick base coat of Orly Dazzle and OPI Suzi-san Climbs Fiji-san on each nail depending on which decal I planned on applying to each finger, applied the decals made and cleaned with acetone.

Applied KBShimmer Clearly on Top to secure and finish.

Normally I would stamp on these and in fact I did, but I'm sharing next week as these nails are doing double duty for fluid art Friday as well as Digit-al Dozen week!  Stay tuned!

GlamNailsChallenge-Tropical Leaves

I'm running late with the #glamnailschallenge for June 5th; the prompt was tropical leaves!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a sponged gradient of Fancy Gloss Neon Orange, Neon Orange/Yellow and Neon Yellow.  These are the brightest neons I have seen; my fingers were just glowing!  These Fancy Gloss neons gradient flawlessly and without virtually any effort; they are so highly pigmented that I only had to sponge each finger once or twice to get all this colour.  I was seriously impressed!  I found that they were a bit thick to just apply to the nail so did add a few drops of thinner but it didn't seem to affect the coverage; I added enough just to make them a little bit more fluid if that makes sense.  

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

My nails look so much nicer this way; maybe I should do all swatches with this pose lol.  But seriously, just trying to show how glowy these neons are!  So bright!

Fancy Stamping!

This is just the simplest of stamping nail art but the fancy stamped design really makes the nails! Well, that and the timeless colour combination of blue and white! I love it; sometimes the most simple nails are the best ones!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Ellagee Mojave Twilight, no top coat.

Applied KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with images from Marianne Nails XXL 6 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

GlamNailsChallenge; Butterflies

I decided to join the #glamnailschallenge for the month of June!  The June 2nd prompt was butterflies; here's what I came up with for it!

Applied Pahlish Sky High Test Batch and Sunny Side Test Batch on various nails and also used as a gradient.  Unfortunately, neither polish are 'great' to do sponged gradients with as they are pretty sheer.  They were good coverage for nail application, just not for sponging.  I ended up hand brushing one or two coats then sponged on more to make a fade.  You will also notice that a lot of the flakies transferred on the gradient nails too; it was because it was many gradient attempts to get them opaque if that makes sense.
