I made it to day 5 for negative space challenge week! What a challenge! I went from not being into negative space too much to not minding them with the right design at the end as I do like how these turned out! I started to look at my nail art plates in a different light now and you might actually see some more negative space nails on the blog every now and then! I really liked how day 5 nails turned out; I was looking through my Bundle Monster plates for images to use for another Olympics mani and came across BM-XL209 and thought one of the images on it might make an interesting negative space mani. I did some stamper decals and while they aren't perfect as my eyes were going all bug eyed when I was trying to fill in the voids as well as keep track of the lines around the bubbles, but think they turned out pretty cool looking anyway! I think a great mani would be doing stamper decals like here was but placing them over a contrasting base polish so have filed this in the back of my mind for a future mani. Anyway, here's what I came up with for day 5!
Started by making stamper decals using an image from Bundle Monster BM-XL209 and FunkyFingers Gesso as the stamping polish then filled in with acrylic paints.
BM-XL209
Applied the stamper decals to the nail.
Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.
I did my right hand a little different; did two coats of Too Fancy Lake Como and stamped using same image.
I decided I wanted a little bit more umph to the mani so added a coat of Northern Lights Hologram Topcoat in silver as I couldn't find China Glaze Fairy Dust.
Even though I was happy how these turned out and think there are some of the more interesting nails I've done lately, I'm still not a fan of the natural nails underneath (which are stained in my case making them look worse) and the tip lines are yet a different colour underneath is another annoyance; it just throws me off when doing these negative space nails. I'll have to carefully pick images or consider void placements in the future but am glad overall that I did make it through the challenge!
Here's the other ladies Day 5 negative space nails.
Thanks for looking!
Love the energy and motion of this manicure! Excellent work filling in with all of those blues, it's a genius use of that stamp. I didn't find anything off-putting about your natural nails peeking through the bubbles, to me they really don't distract one bit.
ReplyDeleteOoh gorgeous, I really need to try making decals this way. They look so good.
