Digit-al Dozen Does Food; Day 3

It's Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen food week; hopefully you've been able to check out the ladies awesome food nails over the last couple days!  And did you see they have a pizza party yesterday and I didn't go?  Quite a few of them did pizza and had a virtual pizza party which was pretty cool!

So continuing to think a little outside the box for food week, today's mani has the pineapple house that SpongeBob lives under the sea!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Nicole by OPI "Baby" Blue, no topcoat.

Did some water interest using L'Oreal Miss Pixie and OPI Sheer Tints I Can Teal You Like Me using brush.  I was impatient to do my nails because I didn't start painting til after midnight so a little blobby on index but I thought it would give some interest lol!

Added some sand  to the ocean floor using Zoya Godiva.

Added a few flowers for background interest using JR-20 and MoYou Tropical Collection-01.  I spent sooo much time looking for an image to use for these; little did I know that they would be lost with the stamping.  I custom made stamping colours by using MdU 11 and 30, then mixed right on the plate white.

I used several pix for inspiration but they were all along these lines.  These flowers are in most of the images and I was trying to mimic it!  While the other house didn't make it to my nails, I did have an image picked out to use for it too!

MoYou Tropical Collection-01.

JR-20

Stamped on the pineapple on middle using a mix of MdU 59 and 66 using an image from MoYou Tropical Collection-07 for bottom and MdU 48 for leaves.

MoYou Tropical Collection-07

Made stamper decals for Spongebob and Patrick using acrylic paints.  This is from 12-56S.

Goodness; I can't believe I missed a tooth!  I really should start to wear my glasses when doing this work lol!

Patrick was from an image on FUN 11.

Added both stamper decals to the nail.

On the pinky, I had planned to do other house, but decided instead to add Krusty Krab.  There is no image for this, so I used one from MoYou Sailor Collection-10 using red Konad stamping polish, then added eyes by freehand.  Filled in the pineapple to make the house using same Nicole by OPI base polish.

For filler, added some coral, seaweed and starfish from MoYou Sailor Collection-10 using MdU 66, 59, and 48.

Top coated to finish.

Added a bit more Zoya Godiva at tips for sand.  It was very late by the time I finished, so left as is and made by way to bed for the night.

This morning, I thought the detail might be a little better in matte so added coat of OPI Matte.  I think it washed out the colours too much and my personal preference is the shiny version, but this was OK too.

Here's the other ladies Day 3 food mani's!

Over An Orange Base

Today's Adventures in Stamping Challenge was over an orange base...this is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI Bride's Bouquet and Revlon Alluring Amber; topped with SV.

Stamped using Apipila P. 02 using Konad black special polish.

I had made a stamper decal using plate 12-56S for the thumb so added it.  This time, I tried it using acrylic paints and it worked well except I found the paints a little slower to dry than stamping or regular polishes.  But they did work!

I smudged the stamper decal when I was applying it so it kinda smudged there at Fred's arm.  So I added a few random dots using black Konad special polish and CND orange.  Fixed up Fred's arm a bit with  bit of paint and a brush.  Topped everything off with SV.

I only did one stamper decal so this was my right hand...I used the same image of Fred but with plate 12-56 for the hand below.  The images are larger as you can see; Fred doesn't fit all the way on the nail.  I posted some differences in the plates here if you want to read further.

I'll be interrupting blue mani's for Autism Awareness for the Digital Dozen challenges over the next five days starting tomorrow....and don't forget to enter my impromptu giveaway here if you're interested!

Hope you're having a good weekend....thanks for looking!

Scooby Doo and Shaggy, Too!

Isn't it great that there are so many stamping image options nowadays?  So cool that we have more than flowers and butterflies to stamp, right?  (Lol, ironically, my next post is going to be flowers and butterflies for the AiS FB spring challenge!)  Anyhooo, a fairly new plate that I picked up not too long ago has a bunch of cartoon characters; this is a mani I came up with!

Base polishes used, starting at thumb and going clockwise, are L'Oreal New Money, Color Club Pink Flame, China Glaze Bahamian Escape, Sally Hansen Insta-dri Orange Impulse and OPI Funky Dunkey.  All two coats, topped with SV.

I've had Scooby and Shaggy stamper decals sitting for a while now; since before St. Patrick's Day but haven't had a chance to use them as I was doing St. Paddy's Day and various challenge mani's.  So I finally decided to do a mani using them.  These are the stamper decals I had made using 12-56S.

When I went to take them off, I guess they have been sitting too long and had over dried.  While I was able to salvage Shaggy, Scooby Doo fell apart and was unusable (maybe I should have posted this in my last fail post!)

Seeing how I already had the mani planned,  I went ahead with the mani anyway.  Applied the stamper decal to the thumb (and didn't do a great job of painting it, I see!) and just stamped in Scooby Doo using 12-56S with black Konad special polish.  The other plates used were OMG unnamed XL (peace symbol) and fauxnad AT06 (flowers).  Stamping polishes used were FUN stamping polishes in Bubble Blue, Mango Shake and Cotton Candy and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lickity Split Lime and Orange Impulse.

Topped with SV.

I had only done the two stamper decals so only had them to use; decided to do my right hand slightly different using same stamping polishes, but used SdP 67 for the image. (Please excuse horrible cleanup, hangnails and terribly dry cuticles!)

Topped with SV.  I really like the colour combinations on the thumb and index finger; I'll have to come up with a mani to put these colours to use sometime soon!

The 12-56S plate is available here via Chocolate Vanity's Etsy shop.  Please note that 12-56 has larger images than the 12-56S. (I have the 12-56 plate too; most of the images are too large to fit entirely on a nail, I guess unless you have terribly large/wide or long nails, which I don't!).  The 12-56S plate is slightly different; a lot of the images are the same but smaller in size but some of the images are different from the 12-56 plate.  Some of the images on my 12-56 plate don't stamp 100%, I seem to think there was a couple on the 12-56S plate that didn't stamp clearly, but the quality was better than the original 12-56.  I have read mixed results on FB groups of the quality on these plates; I can say mine are generally OK, recognizing that all don't stamp well on the 12-56 plus there is the size issue, but not everyone has received stampable plates.  I did contact the owner of the Etsy shop and worked out an agreeable arrangement regarding the 12-56 plate.

When I received my 12-56S plate, I did some sample testing on scrap paper (I've edited some of the words, phone numbers, etc. on the paper), which is below.

Hope you're having a fantastic weekend...thanks for looking!
