Pahlish Ace of Fours

Another blue mani in support of Autism Awareness Month; this time, Pahlish Ace of Fours which was part of the Portal - Fall 2012 collex.

This is one coat of Ace of Fours, no topcoat.

Two coats, then topped with SV.

Bottle pix of Ace of Fours.  As described on Pahlish's Etsy shop, Ace of Fours is "inspired by Wheatley; this shade is a sheer soft white base with faint silver shimmer, blue micro flakies, and sparse iridescent charcoal micro flakies".  I have no idea who Wheatley is, but I'm sure its associated with Portal...er, somehow!  I'm sure this is a generational gap thing! (I actually googled Ace of Fours, Wheatley, Portal...seen why I know nothing of this...the last game I played with is Super Mario!) Obviously I didn't buy the collex for my inner gaming geek!

Decided to do some blue on blue stamping.  Picked an image from Big SdP C which had lots of areas that the base polish could be seen through (and an image I'm sure to use again as I love it!), then added an accent stamp using XL B.  Konad special blue stamping polish was used.  I actually like the textured look of this more so than when it was top coated.

But I did topcoat it, below topped with SV.

Pahlish polishes are available via Etsy here!  As to any information on Portal, Ace of Fours, etc....you're on your own!

Thanks for looking!

Santa Claus the Night Before Christmas

It's the night before Christmas; Santa Claus is at the North Pole getting ready to deliver all the gifts all over the world!  Here he is before leaving for a busy night!

DSC05933-2

Started with a base of OPI Bride's Bouquet, two coats then sponged a gradient using NYX Girls Dark Gray and FingerPaints Black Expressionism.

DSC05922-2

Stamped using QA 19 (house), W220 (Santa), D01 (sleigh) and HD05 (reindeer); then hand painted in North Pole on pinky.

DSC05926-2

Added some snow using XL B.

DSC05928-2

Touched up the dots with a dotter.

DSC05932-2

Added SV.

DSC05934-2

For those who have followed my blog since last year, you may have already seen this, but for those who
have not, I thought I'd rerun Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Twas the night before Christmas,

when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.

And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.

He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.

And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

From my family to yours, have a Merry Christmas!

2 for 1!

A couple more mani's from the archives...this first one is from early December 2011.

I had just picked up Essie Bobbing for Baubles; this was two coats. I see this is another mani that gave me lobster hands...I love how KarenD coined the phrase "rosy glow" for lobster hands in the comments of my post a couple days ago.....rosy glow just sounds so much nicer!

Then stamped with Big SdP F using China Glaze 2Nite.

While this was pretty enough when I did it late at night...it really didn't reach its full potential until I was sitting in my car the next morning when I was out doing errands. I looked at my nails and bam! Hello, holo!...so I grabbed my camera quickly and snapped a few shots.

Here's another holo mani...this time taken back on February 11, 2011...yikes, almost a year ago! Started with a base of Nubar Hollywood Pink.

Then topped with one coat of OPI What's Dune?

Lastly, stamped using Konad Gold Black Pearl special polish using fauxnad plate XL B.

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend....and thanks for looking!

Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter!

Here's my Easter morning mani!

China Glaze White Out as base; stamped with Konad special polishes in Yellow, Metallic Pink and Chic Blue.

Used IP's Konad S10 and fauxnads SdP B-04, BM19, T21, XL A and XL B.

If you're brave enough to view some really bad cuticles, I also did the same design on my right hand, but pastel stamping.

Used Konad special polishes in Pastel Pink and Pastel Yellow and Beautiful Scratchers Pastel Purple (or lilac...not sure of exact name).

And for something differently, added some nail glitter on the stamping. This is Konad glitter but I know there's lots of other brands on the market.

I've never used this before so don't know if I applied it right....just put on a layer of clear coat and dipped my finger in the container...it seems to me that this is a little thicker than I've seen...I'll have to watch some youtube tutorials before I try it again....I think the sugary look of the mani is appropriate considering the amount of chocolate and sweets I'll probably be eating Easter morn!

I hope you have a fantastic Easter...and had a great weekend!

Thanks for looking!

An Unintentional Easter Mani

Just a quick post of Zoya Caitlyn, stamped with China Glaze IDK.

Zoya Caitlyn isn't this bright or purple...these two pictures were taken with flash just to get a good image of the holo in the IDK as no sunshine here today.

Used one of Shirley's Image plates again...these plates have some really cool designs and are pretty good value for the money as they have so many designs on them versus the typical 7 designs or so with Konad and other plates. These images are IP SdP-B04 and XL B.

Here's the stamping in artificial light...you see the stamping a little better but the holo doesn't show up as well. This pix is also closer to the true colour of Caitlyn but still not 100% accurate.

When I finished the stamping, my first thought was I unintentionally did an Easter mani...kinda looks like decorated Easter eggs!

Here's Zoya Caitlyn all by herself.

Thx for looking!

This is Out of My Comfort Zone!

Borghese was on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart (well, a sale is $9.99 versus $13.99 regular price; even the sale price is still on the expensive side)...this is Palermo Plum C.

A little dark/vampy for me...at least my interpretation of dark/vampy..lol!

And of course had to stamp it! Used IP XL B, with China Glaze Emotion.

I've decided to do some experiementing with different topcoats/variations of how to use SV in my efforts to find something that will stop the dreaded SV shrinkage so I tried a non QD topcoat on top of my stamped image on my thumb before SV but it streaked the stamp as you may be able to see above.

I'd rather have a little shrinkage than a streaky stamped image...so I'm going to start experimenting until I find something that works for stamping and doesn't shrink...and provide the great shine and quick dry of SV!!!

Thx for looking!
