Hot Pink Owls!

I was sorting through my image plates and came across these super cute owls and thought, they need to go on my nails stat!  So I set the plate aside to use for one of those days when I don't have time to sort through plates to find an image and that was not too long ago.  So here are those super cute owls on my nails now!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a stamper smooshy base of Color Club polishes Warhol, Modern Pink, Beach, Please! and All that Razz, no top coat.  One of my polishes apparently has a little DYI fluid it it, as you might notice on the thumb and middle finger!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using FUN 25 (pinky and index) and FUN 26 on the rest using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I thought the hearts on the owl image were a little too cutesy so decided to do a few dots in different sizes.

Decal Mani's All the Rage Right Now!

I was searching nails on instagram for some inspiration ideas and seen a much of decal mani's that were trending right now and thought, hmm, I think I can do that too!  Here's what I came up with!

I hadn't done a fluid art mani in a while so decided to use decals from a bunch of China Glaze polishes and DYI fluid polish.

Cut them to size.

Then applied them by first applying top coat to make them adhere then smoothed them down with a damp sponge to make sure they were good and secure.  All the rage or not, I think I should have cut the pieces down a little bit more as these kept on getting stuck in my hair when I combed it and don't even ask about using the bathroom!

If you've read this far....April Fools!  Haha!  I actually did these decals for these Easter nails that I shared last year!  Stamped with an image from Chez Delaney Animaux 004 using MdU 1, 68, 101 and Painted Polish Stamped in Rose and Stamped in Greenery.
I hope this post brought a smile to your face; there's so much negative news out there that these may have brightened your day a little!

Kiss Me, I'm Irish!

If this mani looks familiar, it's because it was a mani that evolved over several days, with some parts staying constant, that I shared the finished look here!  That and the fact that I loved Pahlish Four Leaf Clover so much, I didn't want to take it off!  But I did wear it in different phases for a few days before how it ended up and this post will share a couple of those looks including this one!

Started with a base of Pahlish Four Leaf Clover on the index, middle and pinky.  The ring is a sponged gradient of KBShimmer In Yacht Water and Girly Bits It's Near Leaf Fall.  Thumb is a fluid art decal that was applied, polishes unknown.

Stamped all the Pahlish nails with Lina All Mixed Up! 01 using MdU 30, thumb is UberChic mini:  St. Patrick's Day with the shamrocks from the same Lina plate; the middle nail is a stamper decal made from Messy Mansion MM04.  Ring finger is MM04 with the rainbow being CjS H-14 using Mdu 39, 68, 11, 107, 9 and 60.

However, when I went to top coat the middle nail, the stamper decal pretty much disintegrated so as not to abandon the entire mani, I did a fresh coat of the Palish and stamped it with the clovers on the rest of the nails, then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  I wore this for a couple days.

But after a couple days, I thought the thumb nail didn't seem to go that well with the rest of the nails, so removed the fluid art decal and put on Pahlish Four Leaf Clover on it as well, then stamped it with the same shamrock images and again, wore it for a couple days.  I didn't mind how it looks here but just preferred it with the Pahlish base on all four nails with the pot of gold accent nail!

Thanks for looking and hope you're having a great weekend!  And wash your hands often!

Fluid Art Friday!

I haven't done fluid art in a while.  I've been wanting to participate in the Friday colour collage challenges for #FluidFridayFriends but just haven't had time due to other commitments, mainly work getting home late, then trying to do laundry, grocery shopping, etc. (aka, every chore I do on the weekends usually) as I'm away most weekends from May to October. Hopefully, I'll get back to it in the fall and over the winter!  I did this fluid back in April and thought I'd share it now!

This is the fluid decal that I had made with DYI fluid polish.  Unfortunately, I didn't keep track of the polishes used.

Applied the portions of the decal on my nails.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I wanted an interesting image but not so much coverage that it covered the base fluid cells so stamped using an image from Marianne Nails n.46 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Fluid Art Fail Made Pretty Cool Decal!

I'm sorry for being absent this last week or so; life has just been kicking me in the butt and I haven't had time to do any posts, etc. even though I'm still changing up my nails almost every day...night I mean, usually around 1 am as that's when I'm finding time to do them!  Thank you for hanging in there and waiting for me to post versus just unfollowing me on whatever media you do follow!  I sincerely appreciate it!

This mani was from a fluid art fail from when I was sampling different fluid additives to see if they would create cells for DYI fluid art including sampling different silicone mats so see how they smooshed, helped in the cell process etc.  The result was a fail as far as fluid art goes but it did turn out a pretty cool mat decal so I still added it to my nails and did some stamping and was pretty happy how it ended up looking, even if it was a fluid art fail!  Here's what I came up with!

Started out with the failed fluid art decal.  I'm not sure actually which polishes I used other than LA Colors but I know for these fluid arts, I've been pretty much sticking to non indie polishes and those that are on the lower end of retail costs because they use up so much polish and because at the time, I was doing a lot of experimenting and I didn't want to use up some of my indie or high end polishes! I actually found some notes on this; used LA Colors Family Ties, NYC Polyester Pink, NYC Snow White, WetnWild Who Is Ultra Violet and LA Colors Punchy were the polished used for the base.

But before I do get to the nails, this is Ms. Cindy wearing the LA Colors Family Ties which is an amazing hot pink gel polish! I wore it alone on Ms. Cindy while wearing the mani I'm sharing now.  Absolutely love the colour, finish, shine and application of this polish!  I thinkkkk I had found these in Dollar Tree for $1.25 each over the winter and pretty much bought one of every colour they had and so happy that I did!

But back to the nails; applied decal to the nails, did clean up, etc.

Applied KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from Apipila Super Placa I using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I think this turned out to be a pretty cool mani and is exactly what I love about stamping; an interesting image that you can see the interesting base below can make awesome nails!  Or in this case, the stamping saved the mani because remember, it was a fluid art fail that I went with anyway but it did end up creating a pretty cool base for the stamping!  Never be afraid to try out your fail; worst case is you've used some time and acetone and you have another canvas for your next creation!

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for looking!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vacation; Day 4

It's Digit-al Dozen week and our theme this month is vacation.  I love the water, I love being on the water and love looking at it.  I bought a trailer on the lake near Southampton, Ontario about a year and a half ago and that is where I spend most of any vacation I take during the summer.  It is right on the water plus not too far from town, where there is a lighthouse that I like to go look at.  This is what was used for the inspiration behind these vacation nails!  Here's what I came up with!

This is a picture I took last Labour Day in Southampton at the local beach area.  I have a few other pix but this is one I could find readily.

It's #fluidartfriday so thought I'd share a fluid art base! Started with a fluid decal using various blue polishes and dark blue DYI fluid polish.  I loved how this turned out; it is one of my more successful fluids so wanted to find a way to use it somehow!  I made this maybe 10 days ago and it is just at the point of starting to be brittle.  By far it is best to use them within 24-48 hours of making as they are much more pliable and fit to your nail better.  But I used older ones too; they just aren't as easy to work on the nail.

Cut down the larger decal to nail sizes and then applied after a coat of bonder.  Please excuse the ring and pinky finger and the Smurf nails; I guess I must have hit the blue that is a skin stainer on those nails but for some reason, missed it on the other nails.  Even with scrubbing with a cotton swab and remover, I could not get it off.  Hopefully its not that much of a visible deterrent for the rest of the mani!

Applied KBShimmer Clearly on Top to secure the decal to the nail and prep for stamping.  Still Smurf nails lol!

Stamped with images from Sugar Bubbles SB 040 on all nails with accent nail of BM-506 using FunkyFingers Gesso.  Yep, still Smurf nails!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

The next day after showering, I was able to get rid of some of the blue staining so took a few more pictures.

Later that night when I took off the mani, I reallyyyy had Smurf nails!  I didn't keep track of the polishes I used for the fluid art so not really sure which polish it was that was the culprit but after a good scrub with Crest whitening toothpaste, they cleaned up pretty good.

Here's the other ladies day 4 mani's!

PS:  I probably won't be able to share my day 5 nails until next week; I don't have the post done yet and usually am not on the net that much during the summer so it will have to wait.  Plus hopefully I'll get Father's Day nails posted!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vacation; Day 2

This base might look familiar as I shared is last Friday for the #fluidfridayfriends and it's doing double duty as it's also the base for my day 2 Digit-al Dozen vacation mani!  There is nothing I like better when I'm on holiday then sitting by the pool and/or lake and/or ocean and reading and/or swimming and/or drinking.  And while I don't own a boat now, I did up until a couple years ago and again, it was another favourite thing to do when on vacation.  Here's what I came up with!

I did a fluid art base using Orly Dazzle, OPi Suzi-San Climbs Fiji-San and OPI My Paprika is Hotter Than Yours, then topped it with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  I already shared the base of these nails here if you're interested in them without stamping.  Stamped using images from Infinity 61 using FunkyFingers Gesso.  Topped with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I thought that the base and the shimmer from the Orly Dazzle may show up a little better with matte top coat, plus I received my Glisten & Glow order and wanted to give their matte a whirl, so topped with a coat of Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat.  I had ordered this because I had read somewhere that it can be used for stamping to make the image matte; I haven't done that yet but will be soon!

P.S. I do not wear bikini's the the beach; however, I have a lot of tankinis and separate bottoms so that counts for the image, right??

#FluidFridayFriends/#FluidArtFriday

I'm kinda obsessed with fluid art right now; I love all the different looks that the fluid art creates!  Plus an interesting base for stamping!  So I again did a mani based upon the colour palette chosen for this week!

Here's the colour palette for this week.
I used Orly Dazzle, OPI My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours and OPI Suzi-san Climbs Fuji-san with clear DYI fluid polish.

The results!  The decals are like mini pieces of art so had to share!

I cut out the pieces I wanted to use on my nails with extra options.

After doing a quick base coat of Orly Dazzle and OPI Suzi-san Climbs Fiji-san on each nail depending on which decal I planned on applying to each finger, applied the decals made and cleaned with acetone.

Applied KBShimmer Clearly on Top to secure and finish.

Normally I would stamp on these and in fact I did, but I'm sharing next week as these nails are doing double duty for fluid art Friday as well as Digit-al Dozen week!  Stay tuned!
