Digit-al Dozen Does Holo; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  This month's theme is holo. Finally a challenge that isn't so much of a challenge as I wear holo on a pretty regular basis and can do any type of nail art as long as holo is involved in some way!  Thankfully this also means I don't have to research or google about the theme (yes, a lot of planning goes into manis sometimes!)!  As it's getting close to Christmas and because we have now transitioned from fall to winter, I'm pretty sure all my manis will be winter or holiday related.  Think.  Because this is the first posted mani and I'm not quite sure what the remaining posts will be.  Other than they are holo!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Colors by Llarowe Santa Baby with accent of CrowsToes Bunny Slope over OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, no top coat.  CbL Santa Baby is pretty much Christmas in a bottle; the perfect hue of red (and holo!) for the season!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using images from Creative Shop 42 (thumb), Marianne Nails Professional n.31 (middle and ring) and B. Loves B.10 Merry Christmas (pinky and index) using FunkyFingers Gesso.

B. Loves Plates B.10 Merry Christmas

Stamped a couple random snowflakes on middle and ring using isolated images from Marianne Nails Professionals n.31.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Here's the other ladies day 1 mani's!

Digit-al Dozen DOES It Again; Day 6, Love and Heartbreak

Here it is Day 6 of the Digit-al Dozen challenges; if you are keeping track, I didn't do a Day 5 challenge simple due to time restraints so sorry about that.  This and the remaining posts you'll see over the next week are scheduled posts as I'm heading off on vacation.....I hope there are no glitches while I'm away as I'll have limited to nil internet access for the next days 10 days.  I will be sharing some pix of my holiday when I return (at some point) as well as sharing the mani I'll be wearing while away which will include a review of CND Vinylux...really excited to try this while I'm away as I know I won't have a spare minute to do my nails while I'm away!

It was kind of hard to get into some of the holiday themed mani's when they aren't in season and I found the Love and Heartbreak challenge a bit of a challenge.  I don't typically do lovey dovey type of mani's except around Valentine's Day...but I guess that's why it's called a challenge!  Here's what I came up with...not overboard by all means, but enough hearts that I hope I hit the theme!

Started with a base of two coats of Ruby Wing Mystic.  I had bought a few of these these colour changing polishes a while now but this was the first time I've tried them out so was interested to see how much they would change.

Decided to do a glitter gradient so added NYX Dark Red glitter.

Topped with p2 Glamorous Finish Holo Topcoat.

While I didn't mind this, it wasn't giving me the glitter factor I was going for, so added a little CrowsToes Morticia at tips.  This wasn't exactly what I was looking for either but at least added a little bit more interest.

Stamped using white Konad special polish using Big SdP W.

Topped with SV.

The next morning was a bright, sunny day so was able to see the colour change...wowzers!!  I was pretty impressed!

I find polishes like this pretty fascinating.  I think I bought three of these colour changing polishes but for sure, want to pick up a few more.  I also want to try some thermal polishes; hopefully soon!

Here's the other ladies Love and Heartbreak mani's!

Lastly, a reminder about the Digit-al Dozen $200 gift card giveaway; please go here to check out the details and for the entry form!

Vampy Crow

This is a post I've had in drafts for a while; I had picked up the Barielle VintageWines collex from Winners in the fall.  One of the colours that caught my eye was Remember Me, even though typically I'm not into these dark, vampy colours.  This is what I came up with!

Started with a base of three coats of Barielle Remember Me.  Two coats probably would have been good IRL or if I wasn't taking pix to share.

Added a coat of CrowsToes Morticia.  Topped with SV.

As there were several layers of polishes, base coats and topcoats here (7 at least), I waited about half an hour before stamping to make sure it was good and dry.

Stamped using Big SdP R using Barry M gold foil.

Topped with SV.

This was one of those mani's that was way more cooler IRL than the pix depicts; I just wasn't able to capture it that well!

CrowsToes Cheshire

I, like a lot of other nail fanatics, am loving all the indy nail polishes that are available...so much creativity, so much selection, so much talent!   Here's a mani I did using another indie; my first CrowsToes, Cheshire.

Started by using a base of two coats of Sally Hansen Night Hydrangea.  The pix below has no topcoat.

Sally Hansen Night Hydrangea was a huge lemming and I was lucky enough to swap for a bottle a couple years ago...and as luck would have it, I stumbled across a back-up bottle not too long ago at a local polish outlet.

Added a coat of CrowsToes Cheshire.

A bottle shot of this awesome polish!  CrowsToes polishes are glitter bombs...crock full of glitter! I have read out there in the blogeshere of some gals having to use a bit of thinner before application, but I didn't find the need to add it before application.

Stamped with FUN Gold stamping polish, using Mash-40.

Topped with SV.

CrowsToes polishes are available at llarowe; I also have a link on the tab on my homepage of Where I Get My Stuff. CrowsToes also has Halloween polishes recently released; you can check out her blog, the Polished Crow here  for swatches! They too are available at llarowe.
