Some Cool Layering!

I love how the addition of a topper can change up a base polish so much; I love experimenting with a a couple of different layers and seeing how it turn all turns out, like I did for these nails.  The only thing that I was bothered by, in the case of this mani anyway, was that the stamping covered up too much of the base!  You can see a good bit of it still peeking through, but I do wish I had have picked an image with finer lines.  Next time!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of one coat Zoya Danielle, no top coat.   No, that isn't a typo; it is only one coat!  It had pretty good opaque coverage and I knew I was topping this so kept it to the one.

Topped with Pahlish Cloud Forest, no topcoat.  I'm loving the blue and pink flakies; so pretty and delicate!

But I needed a little more bling!  One coat of Seche Diamond Dust turned these nails up a bit and I was happy that I used it, even though I did like the look of the pretty flakies.  They can still be seen peeking through anyway!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using an image from SugarBubbles SB 040 using Painted Polish Stamped in Taro, Stamped in Rose and Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I can't remember if this was the next day or immediately after the fact, but decided to add a top coat; added Glisten & Glow matte top coat.

I noticed when I was in the bathroom that the flakies from Pahlish Cloud Burst really showed up well so snapped a pix and thought I'd share it as well!  I see a little tip wear on the ring finger so I'm sure this was the next day.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the weekend!  Be safe!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vacation; Day 4

It's Digit-al Dozen week and our theme this month is vacation.  I love the water, I love being on the water and love looking at it.  I bought a trailer on the lake near Southampton, Ontario about a year and a half ago and that is where I spend most of any vacation I take during the summer.  It is right on the water plus not too far from town, where there is a lighthouse that I like to go look at.  This is what was used for the inspiration behind these vacation nails!  Here's what I came up with!

This is a picture I took last Labour Day in Southampton at the local beach area.  I have a few other pix but this is one I could find readily.

It's #fluidartfriday so thought I'd share a fluid art base! Started with a fluid decal using various blue polishes and dark blue DYI fluid polish.  I loved how this turned out; it is one of my more successful fluids so wanted to find a way to use it somehow!  I made this maybe 10 days ago and it is just at the point of starting to be brittle.  By far it is best to use them within 24-48 hours of making as they are much more pliable and fit to your nail better.  But I used older ones too; they just aren't as easy to work on the nail.

Cut down the larger decal to nail sizes and then applied after a coat of bonder.  Please excuse the ring and pinky finger and the Smurf nails; I guess I must have hit the blue that is a skin stainer on those nails but for some reason, missed it on the other nails.  Even with scrubbing with a cotton swab and remover, I could not get it off.  Hopefully its not that much of a visible deterrent for the rest of the mani!

Applied KBShimmer Clearly on Top to secure the decal to the nail and prep for stamping.  Still Smurf nails lol!

Stamped with images from Sugar Bubbles SB 040 on all nails with accent nail of BM-506 using FunkyFingers Gesso.  Yep, still Smurf nails!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

The next day after showering, I was able to get rid of some of the blue staining so took a few more pictures.

Later that night when I took off the mani, I reallyyyy had Smurf nails!  I didn't keep track of the polishes I used for the fluid art so not really sure which polish it was that was the culprit but after a good scrub with Crest whitening toothpaste, they cleaned up pretty good.

Here's the other ladies day 4 mani's!

PS:  I probably won't be able to share my day 5 nails until next week; I don't have the post done yet and usually am not on the net that much during the summer so it will have to wait.  Plus hopefully I'll get Father's Day nails posted!

Butterflies!

Just like I've been obsessed with floral nails lately, I went through a butterfly stage back in the fall.  A few other mani's will show up eventually but I really liked how these turned out!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Color Club It's Going to be Major, no top coat.  Love this shade!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using FunkyFingers Gesso using image from SugarBubbles SB 040.

Double stamped using image from Kelly Negri KN7 using EdK Tuco.

After doing some brush work filling in a few spots, stamped accent with Marianne Nails n.104 using same EdK Tuco, then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

You know me and my love for busy nails so decided to triple stamp more little butterflies here and there using Marianne Nails n.104 using FunkyFingers Gesso.  Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

After Last Week, Hope You're Not Tired of Gradients!

Last week at the beginning of Digit-al Dozen week, I was thinking that it might be kinda boring only sharing pink and/or purple gradients for the entire week as I had already uploaded the mani's and knew what I was going to post (except the Friday mani BUT as it turns out, the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas weekly challenge happened to ironically be pink and purple so it too was going to be same colours).  So during the week, I did a few other mani's with the intention of sharing them instead to change things up a bit.  But when I went to actually post them, I got to thinking heck, there's nothing wrong with only posting the pink and/or purple ones, so I'll post what I already have uploaded!  But now, I have these other gradient mani's to share....... so this is one of them!

Started with one of my favourite grays, Colors by llarowe The Good Old Days;  two coats, no top coat.

Did a tri gradient using Colors by llarowe The Frenchy Klein and Colors by llarowe Believe in Miracles.  I know that the colours don't blend to a gradual gradient as a typical gradient but when I did them to blend a bit more, the darker colours pretty much overpowered the gray, so did them with less of a fade than a more graduated gradient.  If that makes sense!

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using an image from Sugar Bubbles SB 040 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.
