Digit-al Dozen Does Traditions; Day 3

Here we are at Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen week with the theme of traditions.  This is a mani I did based upon our family watching all the holiday movies on TV this time of year; even though the kids are all grown up, we still enjoy watching our favourite shows!

Started with a gradient of KBShimmer I'd Rather Be With Blue by Cosmetic Sanctuary, Sky Jinx and Soul Deep.  The thumb is Misslyn Lemon Green, CND Green Scene and Essence We Love Winter Holidays!

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

For some seasonal interest, did some snow using an image from Chez Hiver A001 (it's kinda sad I had to stamp this on, isn't it lol!)

Chez Hiver A001

Top coated before adding stamper decals.

I made a few stamper decals.....

....then added them to fingers.  Plates used are Sugar Bubbles SBS 08 (thumb), Navidad 3 (middle), Infinity 13 (ring) and MJ VI (pinky).  Index finger is from MR-01 using a custom mix of MdU 23 and 57.  All stamped images were originally stamped using FunkyFingers Dark Knight and filled in with acrylic paints once dry.  Rudolph's nose is Girly Bits Fire Engine Red Stamping Polish.

Added a flower to Frosty's hat using dots and A Charlie Brown Christmas wouldn't be complete without the Charlie Brown Christmas tree that was hand painted in then dotted in a few ornaments.

Added a bunch of random snowflakes from BFF Natal using FunkyFingers Gesso.

I couldn't resist; my favourite image!

Finished with a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TD to finish.

Here's the other Day 3 mani's!

Pumpkins

I've been on a little fall mani kick lately; this is one of four mani's I wore this week.  I shared one my last post and a couple more will be posted next week.  Anyway, when I did this mani, I was thinking what would be a cool base to highlight some pumpkin stamps being the inspiration for the mani; this is what I came up with.

Started with a base of two coats of SpaRitual Kindness.  This is an absolutely perfect fall polish!  Kindness dries on the matte side as you can see below but I'm sure would be stunning top coated and glossy! I thought it was great with the pumpkins in mind because it kinda reminds me of pumpkin pie...if pumpkin pie had gold shimmer in it!

Layered with a coat of Pretty & Polished Phoenix then topped with SV.

Stamped a bunch of pumpkins using assortment of plates using FUN charcoal stamping polish; MJ VI (thumb), BM224 (middle), BM-H11 (pinky and index), and Chez Halloween 001 (ring).

Topped with SV to finish.

Here's a look at the some of the plates used.

Digit-al Dozen, Books; Day 4

Another mani based upon a book I finished not too long ago....can you guess which book this mani is based upon?

It's a book I've had for a while even thought I just finished reading it recently.  I also have the DVD that was based upon the book too, but haven't watched it yet.  I'm kinda funny when it comes to movies that have been based upon books in that I won't watch the movie until I've read the book.  This is for a couple reasons but mainly because I find the book more entertaining than the movie so I want to read the book first so I'm not privy to any spoilers by watching the movie first.  Another reason is there are so many times I've watched a movie and then read the book only to find so many liberties have been taken in the movie that I'm disappointed when I read the book because I'm expecting something else to happen...or maybe this means I'm disappointed in the movie.....if that makes sense!  Sometimes too I have great expectations in the movie as I loved the book and then, the movie is a let down.....looking at you, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown...loved the book...the movie was just so so.  So if I know that a book has a movie based upon it, I generally always read the book first and then watch the movie/DVD.  So this means that I've never watched the Twilight movies (I have the books, just haven't read them yet), Harry Potter series (same...but I have to admit I've seen snippets of the movies here and there while my kids have watched the DVD's), I just finished Time Traveler's Wife last month and while I've had the DVD for ages, just haven't watched it...as I wanted to read the book first!!! lol (makes me sound nuts even typing this!).  In the case of the Time Traveler's Wife; I hope the movie is better than the book!

So....did you guess......

Started with a base of OPI Bride's Bouquet (two coats) and FingerPaints Black Expressionism (one coat); topped with SV.

Stamped using black and white Konad special polishes using Apipila 03 (ring and thumb) MJ II (pinky), FUN2 (index) and MJ VI (middle).

Topped with SV.

I plan on watching the DVD of The Help over the weekend now that I've finished the book...I hear its pretty good!

Here's the other ladies Day 4 mani's!

Digit-al Dozen, Geek Week; Day 2

Are you a fan of Big Bang Theory?  I have to say, I love the show!  A mani around BBT would be perfect for Geek Week...but there was a nerd theme a few weeks ago in AiS and I did a BBT mani already here; then I thought, hmmm...what about a mani in tribute to Sheldon Cooper, the biggest geek ever....so decided to do a mani featuring the t-shirts worn by Sheldon Cooper!  Here's what I came up with!

Base polishes, starting at thumb and going clockwise are FingerPaints Blissfully Blue, FingerPaints Inkblot Blue, FingerPaints Black Expressionism, Duri Taming of the Shrew and FingerPaints Blue Raspberry Taffy; all two coats, topped with SV.

Stamped using BM305 (ring finger), FUN2 (index), MJ VI (pinky), D25 (middle) and DRK-A (thumb), using red Konad special polish and FUN stamping polishes in Mango Shake, Bubble Blue and Cotton Candy.

Added a couple words for filler using CH47.

Topped with SV.

Here's pix of Sheldon in his t-shirts so this mani may make more sense...his t-shirts have their own little cult following!  I had to take some stamping liberties; for example, I could stamp the lime on the Batman image but purple didn't show up well, so just decided to do it yellow; and while I thought I had a massive Flash bolt like the t-shirt, I didn't and the multi bolts was the closest I could find.

Oopsie Daisies Glacier

After a couple weeks of non-stop Christmas/Holiday/Winter mani's, I felt like something different and needed a little change.  When I was trying to decide what polish/what stamp (which usually takes me longer to figure out than the actual time spent on doing my nails...can anyone relate?), I seen the bottle of Oopsie Daisies Glacier** sitting on my table which I hadn't worn yet; this is what I came up with.

Started with a base of three coats of Oopsie Daisies Glacier.  Topped with SV.

Another pix.  Glacier is unlike anything in my stash; while I was initially going to layer it over a creme, I decided to just do layers on its own.  Three coats had good coverage yet was interesting because it was still translucent.

When it came time to do some stamping, the first images that came to mind were snowflakes...but I was wanting to stay away from Christmas/Holiday/Winter images as I had done so many mani's already with them and was feeling the need for something different.  So decided on MJ VI using Konad white special polish.

Topped with SV.

I really liked how this turned out; the popping glitter, combined with the stamping, made the mani look 3D which I thought was awesome!  The funny thing about this is that this polish would be an awesome base for some snowflakes...the glitter combined with stamping would be an awesome 3D effect!  Next time....!

Oopsie Daisies is available via Etsy here....there's also a new collection from Oopsie Daisies called Mount Olympus just launched that has a couple colours calling my name.....!
