New Year's Nails!

It's New Year's Eve so I thought I'd share these New Year's nails that I did not too long ago.

Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Milani 3D Holographic 510, no top coat. I chose this colour as I wanted a gold that would really pop with a negative space image, which I knew I wanted to do.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from UberChic Christmas-02 with an accent nail of MoYou Festive-039 sing Midnight Mischief.  I had planned on using a negative space fireworks image but couldn't find it so did snowflakes instead.  Of course, I found the negative space fireworks image the next day.  Whomp, whomp, whommmpppp.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

New Year's Eve is going to be another quiet affair this year but it won't be that much different than any other year.  Whatever you happen to do, be safe during these trying times!

Digit-al Dozen; Skittles, Day 3

Here's Day 3 of the Digit-al Dozen skittle mani's; this time I decided to have some fun with textured polishes!

Started with a base of skittles; polish used on the thumb is OPI Kiss Me at Midnight, middle finger is Milani Yellow Mark, and pinky is China Glaze Of Coarse, all two coats, no topcoat.  For the index and ring finger, I didn't have textured polish in the colours I was looking for.  I remembered reading somewhere in the blogesphere (I can't remember which blog now, but will gladly give credit if I come across it again; I seem to think it's a fellow Digit-al Dozen lady.  **Edited Oct 23 2013; the blog was Bee Polished; the post is here if you want to check it out!) about using a textured polish and then topping it with a regular polish, so this is what I did for these two fingers.  I used two coats of OPI Solitaire on each finger, then did a coat of Duri Taming of the Shrew on the index finger and then Essie Navigate Her on the ring then waited for all to dry.

Stamped using black Konad special polish using FUN 11. Unfortunately, the Elmo finger wrinkled a little because it wasn't dry enough, but I just touched it up a bit with more red polish.

Added a little character to their faces using a dotting tool using red, white and black Konad special polishes.

That's it!  I didn't topcoat this mani as I wanted the roughness of the texture polishes.

Here's the other ladies Day 3 mani's!

Milani Beach Front

It's late Tuesday evening as I type of this post...it was the Civic Holiday weekend here in Ontario and I decided to take off Tuesday and stayed up in cottage country....so my long weekend, turned into an extra long weekend.  The weather was fantastic...if not even too hot.  Spent time out on the lake, went tubing for the first time (and probably my last time...at least I can say I've done it, right?)  The family went home last night and today, I had a me day.  Went to a local hairdresser, got a much needed, long overdue haircut with some fresh highlights, and then had a pedicure later in the afternoon.  Decided to stop by the local Urban Planet...and low and behold, they are now selling Nabi nail polish for 2/$5. They had lots of magnetics and good selection of metallics and glitters.  I picked up a few metallics as I'm curious to see how they''ll work for stamping.  I'm doing my nails right now using one of the Nabi glitters, but while I happen to have internet access, thought I'd type out a quick post.

Here's a mani from the archives when I did a bunch of blue manis for tribute nails for a nail gal pal.  Here's one I came up with.

Started with a base of Milani Beach Front, two coats.

Stamped with W212 using Konad royal purple special polish. Messed up the stamping a couple of times as you can see...and didn't do a great job placing the stamp either.  It's one of those funny images I never quite know how to use.  Did OK on the thumb; the rest aren't that good though.

Added a few random white dots.

Lastly, added some silver glitter to hide my stamping mistakes (as seen in first pix).  I failed with the silver glitter application too...far too heavy handed.  Oh, well, it's only polish, right? lol!

The only terrible thing about extra long weekends...is that they must come to an end.  I'm heading back to work in the morning...but it was a fantastic extra long weekend while it lasted!

Bright Summer Nails

The weekly FB Adventures in Stamping challenge was your new favourite plate.  I thought I'd try to incorporate a new favourite plate with some bright, fun, summer nails for the weekend......here's what I came up with.

Started with a base of two coats of Julie 9 to 5.  This is sun pix.

Julie 9 to 5 in the shade.

Sponged using Julie Bikini.  I was oddly fascinated with the sponging on my fingers...this is in the sun...

This is in the shade.  These pix also show me that I'm applying far too much polish on the sponge for the gradient as I think I got more on my skin then the nails! lol!

After cleanup.  In the sun.

In the shade.

Stamped using Milani One Coat Fast Dry in Fast Fuchsia.  I picked up a few of these Milani one coaters on my last cross border shopping trip as they were on sale as I remembered reading that they work well for stamping...and couldn't pass the sale up.  Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I picked up these Julie nail polishes on the same trip. The stamping plate is XL 33.  I thought this one worked pretty well; I still have to try out the black and white Milani's.

Another pix in the shade.

A couple of my favourite stamping plates are XL 33 and XL 35 right now.  I'm slowly getting more and more into the polishes, layering, different techniques, etc.....but haven't given up my love of stamping.  These plates have a lot of designs that you can see an interesting stamped design, yet still allow lots of the polish to show underneath.  Win-Win!  Here's a mani I did with XL 33 not too long ago.  I've done a few others; just haven't gotten around to posting them.

XL 33 is available at MyOnlineShop as well as Fab Ur Nails.  (For MyOnline Shop, go to the tab that says About and ordering information is there.)

Hope you had a fantastic weekend...thanks for looking!
