Dandelions in the Wind

Here's a mani from 2019 that I hadn't shared yet.  I have so many draft mani's that I have to post them at some time so no better time than the present.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Hydro Electric, no top coat.

Topped with Anna Sui 101, no top coat.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

ZZ Dandelion

Stamped using images from ZZ Dandelion with accent nails using Vivid Lacquer VL24 on pinky and ring fingers, using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Topped with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month; I thought it would be a good way to kick off the month by sharing a pink mani!

Started with one coat of Nubar Cover Girl.  This isn't really picture worthy; I did a very quick lay down coat just for a little coverage as I knew I'd be sponging on more of it for better coverage as part of the mani.

Did a sponged gradient using Nabi Bright Purple and Anna Sui 370.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Stamped using an image from Apipila p.25 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Apipila p.25.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I even sponged my left hand and stamped it and it didn't turn out too badly!

Fixing My Mistake!

On a lazy, hot Sunday afternoon a couple weekends ago, I decided to do some bright nails to go along with the bright, sunny day.

I had picked up this blue polish in the discount bin at the local drug store the day before.  I was wanting a nice bright blue creme.  Unfortunately, I didn't recognize it from one of the textures that L'Oreal had released last year and didn't realize it was a texture until I started to apply it.  This is two coats of L'Oreal Blue My Mind with an accent of Orly Fresh.

After discovering my blunder, I searched through my stash for something I could layer on top to lessen the texture.  Layered two coats of Anna Sui 012 on top, which eliminated the texture nicely as well as added some layering interest.

Flakies look so much better in the shade...or matted!

Added flowers using an image from MJ XLV using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Dotted the centres of the flowers using the same base polishes, then top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I was really happy how these turned out, even though I was less than happy initially with the textured polish instead of the creme.  But I think it worked out OK in the end!

Essie Hot Coco, Layered and Stamped

This post will be short...just like my nails!

Two coats of Essie Hot Coco.

Yawn. Oh, so not me. So I added one coat of Anna Sui #709.

Now we're talking! Hello holo glitter! I seriously wish my camera could do a better job of picking up what the mani looks in real life (or maybe its user error?!)...the glitter is seriously more interesting than this....*sigh*.

Stamped! Used CND Gold Chrome with fauxnad IP SdP 38.

These Roses Smell Like Roses!

You may have heard or know from your own polish purchases that Anna Sui polishes are rose scented...which is why this rose mani smells like roses! This is my #1 Anna Sui lemming, #003.

When I first opened the bottle of polish, it looked like the Anna Sui was a little on the sheer side so I first did a one coat of Sally Hansen Black Out. I was pretty pleased on how well one coat covered for a base coat and will keep this in mind instead of using the harder to get (for me), more expensive Illamasqua Boosh.

Topped with one coat of Anna Sui #003. I took a couple pix; here's one in the sunlight where you can see the tiny holographic glitter, which is more obvious if you click and enlarge pix.

This pix was taken in the shade.

Stamped with Nicole by OPI Give Me the First Dance using SdP A04. This pix is in the shade.

While I purposely chose this silver for stamping versus my regular silver stamping polish, Nicole by OPI Positive Energy as I didn't want that chrome-like finish, I had a hard time removing the polish around my cuticles as I had ran out of acetone and there was so much glitter-like particles from the stamping, so cleanup wasn't the best. I took this pix the next morning after most of the glitter had worn off.

Here's a bottle pix of Anna Sui #003...unless you are in bright sunlight, the holo isn't that obvious.

Hope you had a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Weekend Manicures

I've been thinking about expanding my nail polish horizons and recently picked up a few glitters as I want to try out some layering *experiments*. I thought I'd do a layering mani over the weekend with Orly Frisky that I had picked up at Sally's Friday night.

This is two coats of Frisky topped with one coat of Anna Sui #107. Feel free to click on the pix to see the glitter/laying better, but beware of terrible cleanup and dry cuticles!!! Just look at the polish lol!

I found Frisky on the thick side but had no polish thinner on hand so had to grin and bear it. I suppose I could have used another polish, but I really wanted to try out this layering combination.

On top of the polish being on the thick side, my DD chose this same time to ask me 1000 questions (started to get on my nerves to be honest!) and my application skills went out the door. I terribly flooded my cuticles like no tomorrow. (Not reallllyyyy her fault, I know, but that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!).

This mani is so much cooler than the pix (and my terrible application!) appear.....I'll certainly have to try it again when I have more patience and some thinner on hand as I really liked the combination of these two polishes.

The problem with layering with glitters (for me) is always keeping in mind what stamp to use so that the glitter can be seen, so I eventually settled on SdP-A15 and kinda french tipped the band of flowers.

Stamping polish is Konad black special polish.

We had a dog named Frisky when I was a kid, and even if I didn't need another blue polish, I had to pick it just for the name!

I had no Internet access on the weekend and am behind posting, so I thought I'd also share another mani I did over the weekend too. Base coat is Orly Frolic, two coats. Again, polish was on the thick side and obviously I wasn't thinking when I started to apply it because I should have remembered that Frisky was thick and I had no thinner, but I never (*sigh*), and on my nails it went.

Stamped using Konad black special polish, using fauxnad IP SdP-D11.

Then added a couple random dots using some random silver glitter.

Anna Sui #322

I really wanted to do an Easter mani 'cause its right around this time of year. But for some reason, I just couldn't get into what polish to pick, what plate to use, what stamping polish to use blah blah blah. So did this instead. Anna Sui #322.

In the right light, you can see the cool purple secret shimmer and of course, the smell. Oh, the glorious smell of roses. The only other time I had used an Anna Sui polish, I did one nail and it was faint, but whew, when it was on all five nails, the scent was really obvious. This morning, its not so strong, which does make it a little more tolerable.

Used IP A1 as a french tip, then stamped the bottom portion with Konad M69 using Konad black special polish.

Here's mani in progress....I did think about leaving it like this but ultimately decided to stamp it more.

Here's Anna Sui #322 by itself. I was really glad to see that this wasn't the same brush as on the Anna Sui glitter I used a while back, because the application would have been a nightmare! But the polish had a regular brush so, whew!

I picked up a few more of these Anna Sui polishes as it was 20x the points at Shoppers Drug Mart this weekend...I should have enough Optimum points to get the new Deborah Lippmann polishes at Murale...and I'm also hoping they have the new Chanel's in stock too...nothing better than free polishes using points! I sure hope SDM gets more of these Anna Sui's in...the gal at the beauty counter said that the same colours have been in the display for a while..so here's to hoping!

New Plates and Old Polish!

Some of the old Sally Hansen Prisms are fantastic...I picked up a few of them last summer when the Bargain Shop was selling them in plastic pouches and have spotted some in bargain bins at flea markets and the like. **Always check out the bins or makeup sales at flea markets as you never know what you may find there! ** Here's two coats of Ruby Emerald over one coat of Illamasqua Boosh...a glorious one coat wonder!
I took a few pix in different lighting...
Here's another one...
Now, onto the new plates! Some of you may know that a fellow blogger, Shirley over at Shirley's Beauty-Nails** designed her own line of image plates. I'm always on the lookout for new image plates and she has some really great and unique designs, so as soon as I had a few extra dollars, I ordered 28 of the available ones. Here's my first time using them over my mani using Orly Luxe using plate SdP B-13.
My fingers were stamped this morning which was day three of this polish, so thats why its not as nice and shiny as the above pix! The pix above is in direct sunlight; the pix below is in the shade so the stamp design shows a little better.
And I stumbled across a source for Anna Sui polishes a week or so ago...of course had to pick up a few and thought it would be a great time to give them a try. The sparkly thumb is Anna Sui #81. Love these rose scented polishes...but not loving the brush so much...I guess its a small price to pay for the gloriousness!
Anna Sui is available at select Shoppers Drug Marts (in my area anyway). The one I visited had about 15ish different colours to chose...unfortunately the one I'm lemming the most, #300, wasn't part of the collection.

Thx for looking!
