40 Great Nail Art Ideas Does Pale Blue Base

It's back to 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge!  I'm a day late in posting but did have my nails done for Friday; hopefully, I won't be late next week!  This weeks theme was pale blue base; I had the added prompt of mermaid/scales.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Polish II Sky Blue; two coats on middle, ring and pinky and three on the remainder.  Two coats wasn't the best but I knew I would be adding a glitter top coat.

Added a coat of Shimmer Polish Sarah on the fingers that only had two coats and top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped mermaid scales using MdU 3 using an image from Bundle Monster BM-502.

Added a coat of top coat.

Made a stamper decal using an image from Marianne Nails n.89 using MoYou Ever Green, Funky Fingers Dark Knight, then filling in with acrylic paints.

Placed the stamper decal on index and middle.

Added seashells from Infinity 11 to middle using CND Sweet.  Started the mermaid tail by filling in with MdU 11 using a brush.

Once I was somewhat happy with the shape of the tail, filled it in a little bit more.  Added some more hair to the mermaid using MoYou Ever Green on middle finger.

Did a water scene on thumb to accent using images from Infinity 11.  Stamping polishes are MdU 11, 15, 39 and 59.

Added fish to the thumb using MdU 3 using an image from Bundle Monster BM-501.  Added some sand using Zoya Godiva.

Decided I wanted a fish school so triple stamped (or more, can't remember now).

Added a coat of 10.1 Polish Blueberry Blues to thumb for water look.  Top coated it all with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

This pix I think is one of the better ones that it flows well.  Its not perfect by any means but overall, I was apy how this turned out!

Digit-al Dozen Does Neon; Day 5

It's the last day of Digit-al Dozen sponged gradient neon week and while I have more sponged gradients to share, I thought I would share something a little different being some neon stamping.  This is another favourite mani of mine; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (no pix as have shown before). Stamped using an assortment of Mundo de Unas polishes; numbers 29, 39, 49, 51 and 69 using an image from BP L015.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I actually thought that was the end of the mani as I was pretty happy how it turned out, but later that night I got looking at my nails and got to thinking it needs a bit more.  So, the next morning, decided to add a little to it.  First, added a few flower center accents using Shimmer Alice.

Then, added image to accent using an image from MoYou Tropical Collection-06 using Funky Fingers Dark Knight and Mundo de Unas 48. This was just a little extra that added big umphhh to the mani, and finished it off I think.

Here's the other ladies Day 5 neon nails!

Hopefully you have enjoyed every one's neon mani's this week; I know it was fun for me to put such bright and colourful colours on even if they were mainly sponged gradients.........thanks for looking!

*edited on July 21 2015 to add pix of BP L015.

Coral is Perfect for Summer!

**sent for review

We finally have some warmer weather and beautiful, sunny days....let's hope it lasts!!  One of my favourite colours to wear during the summer; especially when it is sunny out, is coral.  I find myself reaching for it often!  This is a mani I did last month and was going to share for the Digit-al Dozen geometric theme, but thought it wasn't geometric enough so am sharing it now!

Started with a base of two coats of Julie G Miami Beach.

Added a very thin coat of Shimmer Polish Alice. **

Shimmer Polish Alice has a variety of shapes and sizes of glitter, including holographic as you can see from the pix below, in a clear base.  Perfect for adding some glitter interest to any base!  I added one very thin coat of Shimmer Alice and it had a good amount of glitter; of course, several coats would increase the glitter, but I just wanted a little interest on top of the base.

Stamped using Funky Fingers Gesso using an image from MJ XLII.  (Great image to allow base polishes to be visible underneath!)

Added accent image using UberChic 1-03.

Took some of Shimmer Alice and added it to the flower centre.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Tax Time!

Sharing a Polish Previously Received for Review!

I'm late getting this post up but as today is the usual deadline for filing your taxes in Canada (except this year, due to a notice distributed earlier in the week by CRA stating the deadline is May 5, which was an error, they have now officially extended it to 3:00 am May 5th), I thought I would do a tax related mani!  Of course, it's blue being that I've been sharing blue mani's for the month of April in support of Autism Awareness.  This is what I came up with!

Started with a base of a coat of Nubar Fan Club; one coat gave pretty good coverage and I knew I would be adding glitter and stamping.

Layered a thin coat of Shimmer Sarah on all fingers except accent, which got a second coat of Nubar Fan Club.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Close up of Shimmer Polish Sarah**.

Stamped using Funky Fingers Gesso using Bundle Monster BM-311 on all fingers except accent.  Accent is stamped with Apipila 03 and VL011.

Close up of Vivid Lacquer VL011.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I haven't really shared this before, but I've been trying out a new glitter removal base; NYC Strip Me Off Base Coat.  I used it on all fingers here and it worked well even on the non glitter polish!  So far, used it about half a dozen times and it has worked well every time.  Can't beat the price either for under $2 here in Canada!

Hopefully you've enjoyed all the blue mani's this month...and have filed your taxes lol!  Myself, I pay someone to do mine so I don't actually have to pull my hair out and swear while doing them....good luck to you if you do yours!

Shimmer Strength and Elevation The Med 2

I don't know about you, but I do my nails pretty often; anywhere from 4 to 7 times a week.  I'm not a swatcher; what you see posted has been on my nails at least 24 hours or longer, except on the very rare exception when I may have done my nails one night and took them off the next morning which I think has happened once in recent memory.  Or when I did extended wear reviews for gel polish, for example.  When there is a season like winter or holiday like Christmas like this time of year, I get bored of having the seasonal or holiday designs on my nails THAT often, so tend to change it up with non seasonal mani's in between once or twice a week. I rarely get all the seasonal or holiday mani's posted during the actual season or holiday simply because I have done so many and not enough free time to get the posts prepared to share them all (hence, why I have so many mani's in archives as I mentioned a few posts ago!) So after I stopped wearing fall and leaves on my nails a few weeks ago, I went full throttle into winter and seasonal holiday nail mode.  It seemed every design I was putting on my nails were like this, therefore, I have so many holiday and seasonal nails already and it's just early December....(not to mention mani's from last year that I never did share).....which I will be posting soon!. Anyway, for something a little different and unseasonal, I came up with this a couple night ago...and even then, I was sorely tempted to put snowflakes on the base but didn't! Although this would be a perfect base for some snowflakes.....anyway, here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Elevation Polish The Med 2, no topcoat.

Added a thin coat of Shimmer Polish Strength.  It is so crock full of glitter, not a whole lot is needed for layering glitter interest!  It would also build up to opacity easily if you wanted to wear it alone.

Shimmer Polish Strength**.  There's even little heart glitter in there!

While I could have stamped on my nails just like this, I did add top coat.  One, I appreciate that not necessarily everyone stamps their nails and might want to see what this combination looks like, but also, in case I mess up the stamping or aren't happy with the placement, I can easily remove and stamp again!  This is a stunning combination IMHO;  the two colours compliment each other so well.  A beautiful base for some stamping!

My very first order arrived from Born Pretty not too long ago. I had ordered a few of their new stamping plates - did you know they have their own brand of plates now?  Well they do!  Decided upon Born Pretty BP-21 as I wanted an image that the base could be visible so used it  along with white Konad special polish.

Born Pretty BP-21.  I used the image on the top left corner and stamped it different angles and different sections of the image so each finger is a little different for interest.

Top coated to finish.
