Failed Shadow Stamping

I did these nails on September 24, 2019.  I can't recall if shadow stamping was a thing then or not but if it was and I was trying it out, it clearly didn't work out here!  So many fails in these nails but they are kinda cool in their own way so thought I'd share now!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a gradient base of Color Club East Austin and Youthquake, no top coat, with East Austin as the full base.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using an image from UberChic Of Art Magic using Painted Polish Blanc Slate and Midnight Mischief.  I'm not sure if I was shadow stamping, or just wanted something more obvious for the stamped image.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  This is obviously before my use of Apipila No Smear Top coat....or maybe it wasn't even out then.  Quite possible.  This was in the float your topcoat to not smear your stamping days and even though I always waited a bit before applying topcoat, sometimes like shown here, it wasn't long enough or too heavy of a hand was used.  Thank goodness, no smear top coats are available now!  Although, looking at these nails, it might have been cool if the smear was all through the nail on all nails as it kinda gives it a web look!

Tropical Flowers

One of the cool things about vacationing in the tropics is the oh so pretty tropical flowers and I always stop and take lots of pictures of them when I see them.  This is an ode to the tropical florals that I see while on vacation.

Started with a base of OPI Living on the Bula-vard and Essie Love-all Game, no top coat.

Layered with Fancy Gloss Ethiopian Opal, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using Lina 4 Seasons-Summer 02 and UberChic UC Beach Please, using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.  Had a little bit of stamping smear on the middle finger; this is why I now use Apipila Smudge Free top coat before top coating.

I also used Essie Matte About You as thought it would be nice to see the flakes of the Fancy Gloss and it didn't disappoint.

Digit-al Dozen Does White; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week; the theme this month is white!  As you know, I've been sporting real shorties for the last couple weeks and have been busy getting my Indie Expo Canada 2018 posts done (one of which will post later today) so really haven't had a lot of time to do white nails.  Thankfully, I have quite a few mani's in archives that are suitable so I can still participate in the challenge!  Here's my day 1 mani!

Started with a base of two coats of Julep Hayden, no top coat.  I remember all the hype over this colour from one single mani post and had to have it....but of course, never wore it.  The bottle has a case of ugly bottle syndrome but it still looks nice enough!

Did a sponged gradient using Maquillage OR450; this was a gift from my sister-in-law from a couple years ago; my brother and her live in Japan, so I doubt this is a brand that is that familiar here in Canada or even North America.  Looking at these pictures, I should have done a few more coats of gradient but oh well; I can live with this.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top

Stamped using Lina 4 Seasons-Autumn 01 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Added a couple accent studs, then top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Here's the other ladies Day 1 mani's!

Pahlish Test Batch: Canyon Sunrise

A gal in the Pahlish FB group had posted a few mystery Pahlishes and I absolutely fell in love with one of them.  Little did I know at the time that I had one on the way to me from buying my own Pahlish mysteries so you would not believe how excited I was when my package arrived and I discovered I too got a bottle! (And low and behold I even got a backup bottle when I bought another mystery as yet another bottle was sent while the first one was in transit!)  This is Pahlish Test Batch:  Canyon Sunrise!

Started with a base of two coats of Pahlish Test Batch:  Canyon Sunrise, no top coat.  There is a very slight holographic to this dusty coral.  There were no application or clean up issues.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using an image from BundleMonster BM-XL206 using FunkyFingers Gesso placing it a little bit different on each finger.

While not overly obvious, added a little glitter sparkle using Sally Hansen Shake Shake then topped it all off with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

I think this will be an interesting polish as a base for some brown, mustard yellow or even some interesting greens stamped during the fall.  Lots of possibilities even thought this isn't your typical colour!

Champagne Dancefloor by CANVASlacquer

Loving the exotic look of this mani with another polish received from CANVASlacquer** for review!

Started with a base of two coats of Champagne Dancefloor by CANVASlacquer, no top coat. Champagne Dancefloor is a creamy peach loaded with gold shimmer; there were no application issues and two coats gave opaque coverage.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Decided to do a gradient using Champagne Dancefloor with KBShimmer For Fox Sake.  What was really interesting with the sponging is that a lot of the gold shimmer sponged on the nail, making this beautiful, vibrant gold shimmer for the lower half of the gradient.  I love this colour combination!

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using an image from Nail Matinee NM05 using Funky Fingers Gesso.  I used the clear jelly stamper for placement; this is the perfect example of why the concept of the jelly stamper works so well as never in a million years would I have been able to place the image just so and centred so well!  All the lining up credit goes to the jelly stamper!  I picked this image to give the mani added interest while allowing the beauty of the golden shimmer to shine on the nail unobscured!

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

I'm sorry that my nails are so ill shaped in these pix; I didn't even notice until I was posting these pictures so I hope that I didn't offend anyone too badly!

CANVASlacquer products are available here; they are made in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and ship internationally to select countries.

Bright Summer Nails

The weekly FB Adventures in Stamping challenge was your new favourite plate.  I thought I'd try to incorporate a new favourite plate with some bright, fun, summer nails for the weekend......here's what I came up with.

Started with a base of two coats of Julie 9 to 5.  This is sun pix.

Julie 9 to 5 in the shade.

Sponged using Julie Bikini.  I was oddly fascinated with the sponging on my fingers...this is in the sun...

This is in the shade.  These pix also show me that I'm applying far too much polish on the sponge for the gradient as I think I got more on my skin then the nails! lol!

After cleanup.  In the sun.

In the shade.

Stamped using Milani One Coat Fast Dry in Fast Fuchsia.  I picked up a few of these Milani one coaters on my last cross border shopping trip as they were on sale as I remembered reading that they work well for stamping...and couldn't pass the sale up.  Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I picked up these Julie nail polishes on the same trip. The stamping plate is XL 33.  I thought this one worked pretty well; I still have to try out the black and white Milani's.

Another pix in the shade.

A couple of my favourite stamping plates are XL 33 and XL 35 right now.  I'm slowly getting more and more into the polishes, layering, different techniques, etc.....but haven't given up my love of stamping.  These plates have a lot of designs that you can see an interesting stamped design, yet still allow lots of the polish to show underneath.  Win-Win!  Here's a mani I did with XL 33 not too long ago.  I've done a few others; just haven't gotten around to posting them.

XL 33 is available at MyOnlineShop as well as Fab Ur Nails.  (For MyOnline Shop, go to the tab that says About and ordering information is there.)

Hope you had a fantastic weekend...thanks for looking!
