Blue Skittles

When you don't know what you wear on your nails, you just pick a bunch of polishes and hope for the best!  That's what this skittle mani is; I couldn't pick which blue to wear on my nails and while I initially was going for a skittle gradient, these polishes aren't quite a gradient.  What I did find out though, was most of these I hadn't worn before and now that I have, I discovered I really liked a couple of them!  Sometimes, picking the polishes are as random as this!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Too Fancy skittles; starting at thumb and going clockwise:  Royal Jeans, Set Fire to the Rain, Bejeweled, Moody Blue and Lake Como, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with an image from Lina Make Your Mark 08 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Finished with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Digit-al Dozen Does 4; Day 4

I feel that I didn't do very well on the Digit-al Dozen's 4th Anniversary challenge; I had lots of cool ideas but didn't get around to doing them so most of my 4's are four different polishes....but I did manage something different for day 5 so there's that to look forward to lol.  Anyway, this is what I came up with for day 4, again, using four different polishes.

Started with a base of two coats of piCture pOlish Cherish, shown with no top coat.

After waiting for it to dry a little, did a sponged gradient using piCture pOlish Cherish, piCtue pOlish Mirage and Too Fancy Lacquer Chocolate Gold.

Topped with KBSimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.  Loved how glowy Too Fancy Lacquer Chocolate Gold looks when top coated!

Stamped using an image from HK-04 using MdU 43.

Did my other hand a little different; just a couple coats of piCture pOlish Cherish, then stamped using Too Fancy Chocolate Gold using same image.

HK-04.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

While I really like how this mani turned out, I just wasn't that happy that I couldn't think outside of the box a bit more and have something more unique than four different polishes all the time.  *sigh*

Digit-al Dozen Does 4; Day 1

It's the 4th Anniversary of the Digit-al Dozen so this month we are doing anything related to 4!  So four colours or four shapes or four styles....or four of anything!  It's hard to believe that the Digit-al Dozen is 4!  I'm not an original member from September 2012 but was asked to join in November 2012 so have been around for a good part part of it!   I always enjoy the challenges....there is a lot of the time that they are a huge challenge to me....but that's part of the fun in participating!  I've expanded my nail horizons because of the group, doing mani's and styles I would never have done otherwise!  And because the other ladies are so damn talented, it pushes me do come up with something a little bit more than I would have done otherwise; I still don't keep up but have fun trying!  I look forward to our next 4 years....and more!

For today's mani', I used four different polishes to create this look; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Too Fancy Lake Como shown with no top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Did a sponged gradient using Too Fancy Lake Como, Too Fancy Royal Jeans and Too Fancy Moody Blue.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping. I love this colour combo; I could see myself using it so often!

Stamped using FunkyFingers Gesso using an image from Delaney Rectangles A005.

Finished it off with a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Happy Anniversary, Digit-al Dozen!  I look forward to our next 4 years....and more!

Mermaid Scales!

I don't even know if these look like mermaid scales (not like anyone would ever know!) but mermaid scales sounds prettier than fish or dragon scales....so mermaid scales they are!

Started with a base of OPI Love. Angel. Music. Baby.  Just one coat; no topcoat.

Added Girly Bits Love Ya Beach!** which was kindly gifted to me by Pam of Girly Bits when myself and other nail fanatics visited her shop in the spring.  This is one thin coat, no top coat.

Stamped using black FUN stamping polish using Messy Mansion MM21.

Topped coated to finish.

I had planned on leaving the nails like this but then I seen Too Fancy Keep Calm and Be Fancy sitting on my desk from using it a few days before and thought it compliments the glitter in Girly Bits Love Ya Beach! so added it in some of the scales using a brush.  Added KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Not the best shot, but see the holo shift a little better in this blurry pix!

Thank you Pam for the fabulous gift!

Teal Holo and Creme

I don't know about you, but unless I have a theme I'm doing nails for, I find it hard to pick a polish and then a plate...or plates as usually is the case.  It usually takes me longer to pick the polishes and plates than to do my nails!  But fate was on my side a couple weeks ago....these two polishes were sitting side by side and made for an easy selection....they are a wonderful pairing if I don't say so myself!

The polishes used were SpaRitual Indigo and Too Fancy Lacquer Keep Calm and Be Fancy; Indigo has two coats and Keep Calm and Be Fancy is one; no topcoat.  (Gotta love one coat holo's...and no staining either!)

Different light; more colour accurate and the holo is flaming!

Stamped using SB 020 using Mundo de Unas stamping polish #2.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

I wish picking out plates and polish was always this easy and looked so good!

Blue Holo Skittles!

Alllllll these stunning holo polishes arrived in the mail on the same day (back in March  2014!); I couldn't wait to do mani's with them and knew I couldn't do them all the same day so I decided to do skittles with them; here's what I came up with!

Polishes used starting at the thumb are Too Fancy Moody Blue, Too Fancy The Shifty Chameleon, Too Fancy Set Fire to the Rain, Emily de Molly LE5 and Too Fancy Bejewelled.  These are all one coat, no topcoat.

Different lighting.

Stamped using white Konad special polish using Lila Anna 10.

Can I just say how much I love these Lily Anna plates....BUT....centering an image on your nails is hard enough without the image being centered on the plate as you can see below.  Now, I was able to center the center image (half) decent but my nails aren't terribly long or big so there was enough of the top and bottom images that it worked.  But if you have reallyyy long nails the centre design would have to shift on nail placement to use the bottom part of the plate to make sure your nail is fully stamped and THAT would cause the middle image not to be centered on the nail and I'm sure this would drive some batty.  (Or maybe I just over think these things, not sure!)   *end rant*

Topped with SV to finish.

Different lighting.
