GlamNailsChallenge; Bees!

I'm late again for the #glamnailschallenge posting on June 16th which was bees!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a textured base of OPI Emotions with accents of OPI Hate To Burst Your Bubble, both two coats, no top coat.

Stamped using images from BM-422 (pinky and index) using MdU 11 and Messy Mansion MM18 on the rest using MdU 2.  I didn't top coat these nails as its kind of pointless using liquid sands if you do but I do wish I had have because some of the stamping rubbed off the next day before I took them off!

Hope you're having a great day and thanks for looking!

Digit-al Dozen Does Texture; Day 5

For the final day of Digit-al Dozen texture challenge, I went with something not very typical for me as I don't use nail vinyls very often.  I may have used them 3-4 times and with varying degrees of success.  While these aren't perfect either, I do like how they turn out and they got me to thinking I should use nail vinyls more often!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats each of Pahlish Rusalka, Rusalka with accent of FingerPaints Midas Touch, no top coat.  This is another instance when one good coat of the texture polish would have made the texture more visible as the second coat seems to lose some of the textured look.  But I do love how Midas Touch was a pretty good match to the gold flakies in the Pahlish!  After I did these base coats, I watched TV for an hour or so to give all fingers a good amount of time to dry as I knew I was applying nail vinyls.  The last time I using nail vinyls, the base coat of the polish came off with the vinyl as they hadn't dried enough and I didn't want to run into that issue again!

Topped the non texture nails with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Applied nail vinyls to middle and thumb and then applied the opposite polish on the nail.  I was having a brain freeze moment here as they both pretty much ended up looking the same even though they both had different bases but if I had any tip here, it would be to apply the texture on top of the non texture polish as it applied and worked better with the vinyls.  The thumb has much crisper edges.  Next time, I would also go a little lighter handed on applying the texture polish.

I had painted a nail stud with the Pahlish Rusalka, Rusalka to make the mani all matchy-matchy; applied it to ring finger.

Applied a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to the nail stud and maybe to the nails that didn't have texture polish on them (can't remember) to finish.  After I took any final nail pictures, I did apply top coat to the ring finger to make sure the nail stud stayed on as I usually wear all my mani's at least for a day or so as I rarely just swatch or do nail art and remove; in fact, I wore this mani for 4 days as I was waiting for the owwie on my ring finger to heal a bit more (which is why there are the odd finger poses in the post).  And that nail stud stayed on, no issues!

Here's the other ladies day 5 textured mani's!

Hopefully you've enjoyed all these textured nails this past week! As much as I love texture, I think it will be a little while before I reach for a textured polish again as I think I'm textured out, as least for the near future!

Digit-al Dozen Does Texture; Day 3

Another Valentine's Day mani using texture polishes for day 3 of Digit-al Dozen texture challenge!

Started with a base of two coats each of OPI My Current Crush (thumb), OPI Pink Bubbly (ring and index) and OPI Pop Star (middle).  I have to say that I much prefer the look of My Current Crush versus the other two that are part of the OPI Pop Culture Collection.

Stamped using Creative Shop 19 using FunkyFingers Gesso.  Unfortunately, even with a clear stamper, I still didn't get the lines straight on the thumb.  Grrrrr!

Digit-al Dozen Does Texture; Day 2

This is another one of those Valentine's Day manis that isn't in typical colours.  When I was searching through my stash of texture polishes, I came across this and because I was in the midst of doing Valentine's nails, I was like, how can I turn this into a VDay mani? I know it isn't your typical mani in your typical colours but hopefully it calls out to someone!  I can think of a few ladies who are into fugly colours who might love it! Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Love & Beauty Sand Lacquer Antique Burnished Gold, no top coat.  My test nail, which was one coat, was a little bit more textured; I will have to try to do one coat only when using these texture polishes as sometimes, they are less textured with more coats of polish.

Stamped using Lina Make Your Mark 04 using a scraped gradient of MdU 88 and 99.  I think given the unusual base colour that these two colours complimented the base well!  I was also happy to use these two stamping polishes as I don't think I have used them before!

Here's a close up of the thumb; I think the gradient stamping was pretty good!

Here are the other ladies day 2 mani's!

Digit-al Dozen Does Texture; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  Our theme this month is texture!  I actually like texture nail polish and crack it open every so often.  I did these nails back in December and was going to post them as part of sharing winter mani's but then I remembered our DD texture theme coming up so held off on posting them until now.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Zoya Sunshine with accents of three coats of Zoya Nyx.

Stamped lines on accents using Lina Make Your Mark 04 using MdU 3 (I love when the stamping polish matches the nail polish so well!)

Stamped snowflakes on the other nails using Lina 4 Seasons-Winter 02 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

I thought I was done but decided to add a another snowflake on each of the accent nails for some interest.  I'm glad I did; I like this version best!

Season's Greetings

Merry Christmas!!!  Hopefully you're having a joyous day with family or friends this Christmas Day!  Regardless of what you do, enjoy the company of whomever you are spending it with and safe travels if you have places to go!

These the my favourite nails from all I have done during the holiday season!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI Onyx with an accent of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Can't Beet Royalty.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from Powder Perfect-Christmas 1 using MdU 106 for stars, then stamped using  an image plate using MdU 48 for trees.

Powder Perfect-Christmas 1.

Added words from same Powder Perfect Christmas 1 on accent using MdU 1.  Then added random snowflakes from Infinity 75 individually.  Yes, that is 27 times.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added snow using KBShimmer White Here, White Now which finished the mani.

Merry Christmas!!!!!

Finally! Halloween Nails!

I finally have a Halloween mani to share!  I had/have so many fall ideas that I had been doing mani after mani after mani that are more suitable to fall nails but thought I had better get in a Halloween mani or two before I run out of time!  Here's my first Halloween mani; there will be a couple more to come!

Started with a base of China Glaze Sunset Seeker.  I used a base for the sandy polish because a quick test swatch indicated that while I was using the darker of the two Konad orange sandy polishes I have, it still wasn't a dark pumpkin orange so a quick darker base coat with a coat of Konad Sandy orange on top made it darker than the sandy alone and more in line with the base colour I was looking for.  (Hopefully that makes sense lol.)

Stamped lines to mimic pumpkin lines/ridges using Lina 4 Seasons- Summer 02 using MdU 13.

Stamped images from Chez Delaney Halloween 002 using MdU 13.  I love these face images; I think I use them every year at least once!

I thought these were super cute; I even wore them for three days; that was until the faces started to come off which happened as no top coat to keep the textured look.

Lemons!

Here's the nail art portion of the lemon mani I shared with the Cuter Cuticles IEC 2018 Exclusive trio! I don't think there are too many items that you can't find in an image on a stamping plate so it was fantastic to find so many lemon images on stamping plates....and I even found more after I did these!

Started with a base of Moyra Vivid Sand 717 Sunshine over a coat of Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights with an accent of OPI Black Onyx.  I went with the sand look to try to mimic the texture of a lemon.

Stamped using images from Delaney Fruits 001 (middle and thumb), MoYou Tropical Collection-08 (index), Wistonia W118 (pinky) and Lina 4 Seasons-Summer 02 (ring) using Funky Fingers Dark Knight; MdU 11 was used on accent.

MoYou Tropical Collection-08

MoYou Tropical Collection-09  (I didn't use this plate as the images were too large for my nails but took pictures of it as I thought I was going to.)

Wistonia W118

Delaney Fruits 001

Top coated just the accent finger to finish.

I think these could also be super cute summer nails and can see myself doing something like this in the future!  Thanks for looking!

Earth Day Nails!

I'm a little late for Earth Day, sorry!  For some reason, I really thought it was April 24th and had set aside some plates that have the Earth Day words and the world and other appropriate images but didn't realize until the actual day (April 22nd) when I seen people posting on IG, etc.  that it wasn't the 24th after all.  So I'm going to use these oceanic nails for my late Earth Day nails!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a gradient using Zoya Pixie Dust NYX, Liberty and Waverly.  I think this is just one or two presses down with the sponge; coverage was great!  Probably the fastest gradient I've ever done! Now I want to do more gradients using these Zoya Pixie Dust polishes!

Stamped using images from Moyra Plate 29 - Waterworld.

I hope you had a great Earth Day on this amazing planet we live on!  Hopefully, it will be around for millions and millions of more years for future generations to enjoy!

Oodles of Hearts for Valentines!

This is about the most traditional Valentine's Day mani that I'll be sharing this year and it's not very traditional at all!  I had more traditional type of nails planned but just ran out of time to do them (and for some reason, thought Valentine's Day was later in the week!)  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of El Corazon Confetti 530, Painted Polish Stamped in Clay and OPI My Wish List Is You.

I waited about half an hour before stamping in order to give the El Corazon time to dry.  Stamped using images from Konad 22 (pinky), Marianne Professional n.21 (thumb), Sugar Bubbles SB 032 (middle) and MJ JR 1 (ring and index).  Double stamped the hearts on the middle image.Used Girly Bits Fire Engine Red stamping polish and FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  Unfortunately, I could not get any clear stampers to pick up the image on the thumb, so had to resort to my regular go to semi squishy but didn't get it placed that well.

Konad Square 22

Marianne Professional n.21

Topped all fingers except middle and thumb with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  Sorry for awkward hand pose but was trying to get right angle for the stamping on middle finger to be visible.  Hopefully it is clear enough!
