Spring Has Sprung!

I was so preoccupied with world events surrounding the corona virus (covid-19) that I failed to realize that spring has already arrived!  So I thought I would share some spring-like nails that will hopefully lift your spirits, if even just for a few minutes in case you are like me and thinking about it more than is probably good for you!

I initially had these pegged for Digit-al Dozen Unmastered Techniques week which didn't happen, this mani showed how I failed to line up the layered stamping images well.  In fact, I was so off on some of these, that I hand painted in some floral embellishments!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of three coats of Morgan Taylor Strike A Posie, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

For the layered roses, used images from UberChic UC 12-03 using MdU 68, then topped with MdU 112 and then MdU 39 for leaves.

Did accent lines using Lina Feeling Shapely! 01 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.  Still haven't mastered straight lines either; will have to keep this in mind if this theme is revisited!

Then added a couple more roses on the accent nails using same plate and polishes as noted above.  Except I didn't do any leaves using the plates, I free handed the leaves (another unmastered technique!)  This is probably the extent of my free hand skills!

Added a few dots for filler and interest.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

This was Ms. Cindy; please excuse dry cuticles, etc. but the intent here is to show that I think the line up of the layering is better on it than my other hand! How is that even possible, yet it is!  It was nice to have matching hands for once too; that doesn't happen that often!

Digitial Does Does Accent Nails; Day 3

I have to say that 99% of the time when I do accent nails, the accent is on the ring finger.  But for some reason, I decided here to do it on the middle and and I don't not like it.  In fact, this is another mani that I really like how it turned out!  Here's my day 3 mani for Digit-al Dozen accent nail challenge!

Started with a base of three coats of OPI Grab the Unicorn by the Horns, no top coat.  Love, love, love this colour but it's not my favourite thing having to do three coats of any polish.

To jazz it up a bit, did a thin coat of Color Club Bougie Baby (I think, as this was one of those club packs that I bought from Winners  that didn't have labels on the bottom of them!)

Stamped strips on accent nail using UC Op Art Magic using MdU 35.  The large stars are from UberChic 10-03 and the large stars are from UberChic 12-03 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Stamping; Day 5

This might be one of the hardest mani's I've ever done which is why I saved it to share for the Digit-al Dozen stamping challenge theme.  This is triple stamping, with having to line up 2 different stamped images after doing the base stamping and while it's not perfect, I don't think it turned out that badly. Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Zoya Presley and Picture Polish Bardot, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I thought I had taken pix during the stamping progression, but I guess I was concentrating too much to get the stamping done as it is triple layered stamping.  Part of the problem was that while I loved the base colours, finding stamping polishes that went well with both of them was a challenge.  The other problem was that it would have been easier to line up everything if all the stamping was exactly the same on each finger but I switched up the images a bit and then had to find exactly the same way I switched them up on stamped image 2 and 3 and that was a bit of a challenge (hopefully that makes sense lol).  Ultimately, I decided upon this scheme which kinda made it very old, traditional looking but I still liked it.  Initially, stamped the base of the roses with Mdu 63.  Then stamped the petal outlines using MdU 76.  Lastly, and this was the hardest for me to line up, stamped the leaves using MoYou Fresh Basil.

Here's the other ladies Day 5 mani's!

An InLinkz Link-up

In the end, I think this was worth the effort and I like the multi dimensional or layering look of it.  I think I'll try it again sometime for sure!
