Digit-al Dozen Does Birthday's; January 2017

This month in the Digit-al Dozen, we are celebrating Shelly at Sassy Shelly, whose birthday happens to be today!  Happy Birthday, Shelly!  Here's the nails I did based on the galaxy pix she chose!

Here's the inspiration pix.

Started with a base of two coats of Zoya Storm; shown with no top coat.

Added a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

For the galaxy, did a bunch of sponging.  Used Dare to Ware Wild Berry (purple), OPI Fearlessly Alice (light blue), and OPI Super Trop-i-cal-i-fiji-istic.

Sponged on Tonic Magnetic Midnight and Dragon Tears here and there.

Added American Apparel The Valley (light blue) and Sunset Blvd. (coral).

Before top coating, dabbed on Wet n Wild R-U-Free-2-Dance?, then top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

The stars in the pix were more blue than white, so stamped them on using MoYou Beach House using random parts of an image from Yours Truly Sasha Gossen Aim For The Stars.

Added a few dots here and there using American Apparel Sunset Blvd again to try to match the pix.

Swoon!

Just after I applied top coat to finish, I knicked the bottom lower corner of my middle finger.  Badly.  So filled it in with polish, responged a bit then added stamping just there to cover the indent.  If you look closely to above pix, you will notice it is a little different; that is why.  Once I fixed it up, applied top coat to finish.  I'm glad I was able to patch it up decently as these nails were a fair amount of work and time and it would have taken a bit just for the one!

Digit-al Dozen Does Decades; Day 3

For Day 3 of the Digit-al Dozen decade challenge, another nod to the 70's with these psychedelic nails!

First, I assembled a whole lot of polishes to do a drip marble; Dare to Wear Wild Berry, Spearmint, Strawberry Mousse, Rock Candy, Teddy, Coral Carnation, Butterflies and Happily Ever After.  Also, China Glaze Yell-O and Parrot Polish White Gold for a little sparkle.  (Excuse the rest of the messy work station!)

The results of my drip marbles...and the stamper decal I did for the accent.

I only ended up using maybe 2 of the decals I made; I had a hard time picking which ones to use as I loved how so many of them looked!  Did an accent of Dare to Wear Spearmint for the stamper decal base.

The stamper decal was an image from Marianne Nails n.30.  I used some of the same drip marble polishes in the hand band and some acrylic paint.  Moyra Stamping Plate 12-Faces has the same image on this plate, but the image is larger.

Added a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Added the stamper decal from Marianne Nails n.30.

Stamped the rest of the nails using FunkyFingers Dark Knight using images from MoYou Back to the 70's Collection-04.

MoYou Back to the 70s-04

Added a few dots to the accent for filler using some of the same drip marble polishes.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

While I wish the marble had have been a little brighter, I still think this is a super groovy cool mani; especially love the index finger which I want to do on all my nails some time!

Digit-al Dozen Does Decades; Day 2

Ziggy played guitarrrrrr!!!!!

I sang hummed this line mani times while painting my nails for Day 2 of Digit-al Dozen does decades!  When googling the 70's for this challenge, David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust images came up quite often.  Then, David Bowie was trending on FB this weekend on what would have been his birthday (January 8th; same as Elvis!) and today being the anniversary of his death, I knew that a David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust mani was in order!  I didn't do it in the colours of the era but more so kinda like a galaxy background to go with the whole extraterrestrial persona (not very successfully!); here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Opal Lagoon, no top coat.

Added a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

After letting my nails dry for about 15 minutes, sponged on Beyond Polish Peony, Dare to Wear Butterflies, FingerPaints Be Still My Beatnik He-Art and OPI Suzi Without a Paddle.  Dabbed a little Parrot Polish White Gold here and there for some sparkle interest.

Topped with KbShimmer Clearly on Top.

I made a couple Ziggy Stardust stamper decals using an image from Creative Shop 29; they are both shrunk using the UC Luxe stamper; the one on the left was shrunk twice; the one of the right, once.  Filled them in with silver metallic acrylic paint. Because I didn't want black stars, I used pure acetone and removed them off the stamper head.

I used the double shrunk image on my largest nail and it still barely fit!  After placing it, I added stars from the same image with a clear stamper for placement.  The rest of the images are from MoYou Roxy Collection-09 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

The placement of this image is a little awkward as I had to place it on the diagonal to fit and I don't think he's that obvious in all the shots but he is kinda cool so here's a solo pix!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Thanks for looking!

P.S:  For all those David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust aficianados, I know enough about Ziggy Stardust that the thumb may not be accurate so have taken some space artistic liberties here for interest!

Digit-al Dozen Does Inspired by Pinterest; Day 5

This is a dual purpose mani for Digit-al Dozen inspired by Pinterest as well as 40 Great Nail Art Ideas but am late in posting as they should have been posted yesterday.  I did have them done but no time to post with work yesterday, then plans for dinner and a night out last night then heading out of town first thing this morning.  So Saturday night it is.  Better late then never as the saying does.  Here's what I came up with!

The pix from Pinterest; credit to My Campus.

Started with a sponged gradient using Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights, Dare to Wear Strawberry Mousse, Dare to Wear Wild Berry and Kiara Sky Ms Behaved.

Added a coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Shake Shake.

Stamped using Bundle Monster BM-414 using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Thought the glitter might be a little bit more visible matte, so added a coat of Girly Bits Polish Matte'rs, which is how I left it and have wearing for the last few days.

Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland; Day 4

Last weekend when I was out and about getting a few stocking stuffers, I happened upon a bag at Winners, which gave me inspiration for my Day 4 Digit-al Dozen Winter Wonderland mani; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Dare to Wear Plumeria.  This is with no topcoat.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Using Konad special polish, added deer from Born Pretty BP-01.

For the forest, used an image from BundleMonster BM-407.  This was my first time using this image; I was a little low on the index finger which was the first finger I stamped, but found a better spot for the rest of them.

Unfortunately, the forest was a little too thick to see the deer through nicely and I couldn't remember any other image that was similar that would look like this.  Top coated to finish.

To mimic the bag I was using for inspiration a little better, added OPI Matte.

This was the bag that was my inspiration.
