Digit-al Dozen Does Inspired by Pinterest; Day 3

Lest We Forget.

Today is Remembrance Day in Canada; it's the day we honour those who fought for our freedoms and those who continue to serve.

For my inspiration, I used the poem, In Flanders Fields, a copy of which I found on Pinterest.

Started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls with a gradient of Misa Working Hard or Hardly Working, Barry M Grey and Funky Fingers Dark Knight.  Stamped images from Marianne XXL 1 (index and pinky), Pet'la Floral (ring) and Canadian Nail Fanatic 001 with Fig Tree Stamps (middle) using red Konad special polish and Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Did a large dot in middle image.  Stamped thumb using Funky Fingers Dark Knight using an image from Chez Halloween 005.

Added more images to thumb using Chez Halloween 005 using MdU 33.

Added a few dots to middle of poppies using the smallest dotter I have with Funky Finger Dark Knight.

Top coated to finish (after lots of time had passed as was really afraid of tc smear on that middle dot!)

Digit-al Dozen Does Neon; Day 3

It's Day 3 of Digit-al Dozen challenge week with the neon theme and low and behold, I have another gradient.  Sorry to be so boring about them, but it just seems to be what I'm into right now.  But what better way to showcase more than one polish at a time, right?  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of KBShimmer Leggo My Mango, no top coat.

Did a sponged gradient using KBShimmer Bahama Drama.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Stamped using Funky Fingers Gesso using an image from Pet'la Koy.

Two Blue Mani's!

In continuing with blue mani's for April is Autism Awareness month, I have two blue mani's to share today! But before I do, I just want to share a RAOK that happened to me this morning at the Tim Horton's drive thru.  Most of my days start with a large triple triple at Tim Horton's.  I was pleasantly surprised when I drove up to the window this morning and was told that my coffee had been covered by the vehicle in front of me!  What a fantastic way to start a Monday morning!  Thanks to the person in the beige SUV at the Tim Horton's at Goreway and Hwy 7 for your RAOK!  It made my day!

I rarely share two mani's at a time but even though I've shared quite a few this month already, I still have a whole bunch more in archives so thought it might be good to do two today.  Also, the second mani, I only have the finished nails, no in progression, so not really enough for a whole post so thought I'd include it today too!

Here's the first one; started with a base of Lilypad Lacquer Sea Queen and Lilypad Lacquer Oceanic; this is two coats each, no topcoat.

Stamped using an image from MJ XL VII using Funky Fingers Gesso and Mundo 54.

Top coated to finish.

Unfortunately, the holographic sparkle didn't show up that well in these pix but I was able to take pix the next day and it shined through a little bit better.  Myself, I like a bit more sparkle or uniqueness to my polishes lately (trying to thin the herd!); these went to the swap pile right after I used them.  Pretty enough but you need to start someplace and they just didn't have the wow factor I'm looking for.

For the second mani, I don't have many pix of the this mani so thought I would share it now.  I had a computer glitch and the saved pictures weren't the same as the thumbprint preview.  When I was deleting pix of mani's I had already shared, I deleted most of the pix of this mani thinking I had already shared them before from the thumbprint preview, when in fact, I wasn't even deleting the pix that was on preview.  Once I realized what I was doing, and after some googling, I discovered you could refresh the thumbprint but all I had left when this was done was a few of the finished nails.

This is Elevation Polish Just Like Night Time stamped with Pet'la Golden Russian using Mundo 43.

For some reason, my hand are more lobstery than normal in these pix but I thought I would share this one as you can see more of the holo in Just Like Night time a bit better.

As much as I love blue, I'm getting tired of sharing just blue mani's so I don't know about you, but I can't wait for May 1st!  In the meanwhile, I do have a few more that I'll be sharing over the next few days so bear with me lol!

Glam Polish Break the Ice with Snowflakes

With the snow quickly melting in the above freezing temperatures lately (at least in my area...and I can't say warmer temperatures because it's still not THAT warm here), I think I had better get these snowflake nails posted before spring arrives, flowers are blooming and we are seeing our first robin!  I did these about five weeks ago when we were in the middle of a deep freeze with snowy conditions (aka, February).

Started with two coats of Glam Polish Break the Ice.  This is part of the Glam Polish Fatal Attraction Trio and is exclusive to Hypnotic Polish.

This is one of my favourite Glam Polishes!  There's an assortment of glitters including the holographic that you can see twinkling through, as well as glass fleck that is more obvious in other pictures.  Such a pretty colour! There were no application or removal issues and clean up was a breeze (always important to me lol!)

Added KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with Pet'la Plates Ho Ho Ho and Mistletoe using Mundo de Unas #1.

With spring right around the corner, I'm going to have to check my archived posts to make sure I don't have any more winter related posts yet to schedule..or they'll be shared next winter.  Or maybe this summer, in the heat of a hot, humid July afternoon when we need a reminder of how unbearably cold this past winter was!

RIP, Dr. Spock

I did these nails as a tribute mani to Leonard Nimoy...aka, Dr. Spock from the Star Trek franchise, who passed away on Friday.

Started with a base of two coats Zoya Robyn (blue), OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (white) and Maybelline Gemey Paris (one).  I top coated all but the dark nails with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Did galaxy nails (or my lame interpretation of same!) using assortment of polishes that were sponged on in the hopes of making a galaxy.

Added a layer of NYX Silver Glitter, which in hindsight is too dense for this type of scenery, but hindsight is 20-20 as the saying goes.

Using a chevron nail vinyl, made a collar for the uniform using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.  Added images using assortment of plates; Sugar Bubbles 014 (Spock image on ring), MJ XVIII (RIP on ring), MJ X (thumb), Pet'la LE Space (index, middle, and pinky) using black Konad special polish and Mundo de Unas 11.

It is very obvious to me that Star Trek fans need more images for stamping plates!!  There was very little to pick from; we at least need 'Star Trek' and an image of The Enterprise.  Some of the other characters would be great too...and better 'LLAP' wording.

A Love Story

I had ordered a few Serum No. 5 glow in the dark polishes in January and was finally able to use them a week or so ago.  I did this mani with the hopes for sharing at Valentine's Day; I've shared a few pix of the base and some of the stamping on IG but haven't done a blog post about it. Until now; that is! Not very Valentine's Day-ish anyway!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Wall to make brights pop; no pix.  Wrapped nails with glue remover.  Waited to dry before sponging; once it was dry enough, sponged on a gradient of Serum no. 5 Solar Power, Orange You Sunny and Infared. I had a terrible time with the glue remover.  First of all, when I posed for this pix, the glue stuck together where my fingers were touching so started to come off in pieces...then I could not for the life of me get it to come off in one piece but rather bits and pieces.  Just had a terrible time getting if off overall.  I haven't used the glue enough to know if my coats were too thick, too thin or what but it took me longer to get off the glue bits then without any glue at all.

This was after a lot of cleanup; and still not the best.  I found the polishes pretty thick and I did fairly generous amount of sponging, mainly because I wasn't happy with my gradient. Even here, it's not the best but because I knew I was stamping on it and would cover a great deal of it, left as is.

I had bought a black light thinking that the glow in the dark would show up best with it....and it does, but man, the skin colour is off the charts!

I wasn't sure if top coat would affect the glow in the dark, but top coated anyway as I knew I'd be stamping and it helps as a protective layer if I have to remove a mis-stamp.

Pleased to report that top coat didn't effect the glow at all!

It was around this time that I thought this must not be how you use the black light for taking these pix; so I charged the polish using the black light then moved my hand away from the light into a dark void; this is the pix taken after charging.  Sooo cool to have colours glow in the dark versus the more typical blues and greens!

For stamping, used black Konad special polish using Universe Polish UP Love-01 and Pet'la LE Silhouette plate.  Touched up some stamping voids with a brush.  (I wonder if they know that "Univrse" is a typo on the plate?)

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Black light before top coating.

Charged with black light but taken in the dark.  Can't tell if top coated or not lol!

I have so many ideas on how to use these polishes for stamping!  While I only picked up the neon colours; I do want to eventually get the pastels too!

Serum No. 5 polishes are available directly from their online shop; I ordered most of them direct and they do ship internationally.  Other stock lists include Harlow & Co., llarowe and Hypnotic Polish.
