Blue Orb

It's been a couple weeks since my last post.  I didn't plan on a hiatis and there was no major reason for the lack of posts other than sometimes life gets busy and nail blogging takes a back seat.  Thanks if you stuck around!  Now stay tuned for far too many pictures!

For these nails, started with a base of three coats of Orly Blue Tango, no top coat.

Topped with EdK Are You Gonna Treat or Not? PPU September 2021.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Lesly Factura 2

Stamped using image from Lesly Factura 2 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Added a coat of Essie Matte About You to see those flakies a bit better!

Polished for Days Dance It Out

Some of the more creative polishes lately have been coming from Polish Pick Up (in my humble opinion, anyway).  I haven't been doing a lot of polish buying for a few reasons; one, I have a ginormous stash already and there's only so many polishes you can store/wear and know I will be downsizing in a few years.  In fact, the great destash has already started (and thank you to anyone who has bought from my blog sale!). I'm saving for two special occasions; one will be coming up this September (my 25th Anniversary) and the other in about 5 years, or sooner depending on several factors (hopefully Freedom 55!). Plus somewhere in there, I need to plan a 50th Bday surprise for the hubs; whatever that might be! Lastly, and perhaps the biggest reason, is that I haven't seen a whole lot of polishes that aren't close to something I already have and I don't need 189175657590 polishes in the same range/finish, etc. so am being a bit more selective of what I have been buying.  I'm not disciplined enough to go on a no buy so have bought here and there but it does seem that the majority of any money I've been spending on polish has been from the monthly Polish Pick Ups.  This is one I bought from November 2017, Polished for Days Dance It Out; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Polished for Days Dance It Out, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Decided to stamp with Esmaltes da Kelly Edwiges so (hopefully) bring out the pink flakes seen in the base using an image from UberChic UC 6-01.  I picked this image so that the base still could be seen underneath the stamping.

While I didn't mind this, I was looking for a bit more bang, so shadow stamped using same image with FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  My double stamping still needs some work but overall, not too bad of a job!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

March's Polish Pick Up theme is books; the store is open for orders on March 2nd and I have a few added to my wish list already.  Like I said; no discipline!

Great Lakes Lacquer Glass On Fire

Great Lakes Lacquer Glass on Fire is oh, so appropriately named--the polish is like glass and it glows a fire from within!  It is super stunning; a favourite polish to be sure!  I tried to use an image that you could still see the gorgeous base through yet have some interesting stamping; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Great Lakes Lacquer Glass on Fire, one of the offerings from January 2018 Polish Pick Up.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Gradient stamped using Esmaltes da Kelly Maria, Painted Polish Stamped in Rose and FunkyFingers Gesso using an image from Sugar Bubbles SB 051.

Digit-al Dozen Does Whimsy; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week!  This month's theme is whimsy and it might be one of the hardest challenges so far! This is what I came up with!

By defintion, whimsey is:

whimsy

or whimsey

[hwim-zee, wim-]

nounplural whimsies.
1.
capricious humor or disposition; extravagant, fanciful, or excessively playful expression:
a play with lots of whimsy.
2.
an odd or fanciful notion.
3.
anything odd or fanciful; a product of playful or capricious fancy:
a whimsy from an otherwise thoughtful writer.

So I took this mani as my interpretation of being playful and went with it! I'm not 100% sure if it really is whimsy or if any of the other mani's I've done for the week are whimsy either for that matter, but just pretend it is for the week in case, ok?

Started with a base of two coats of FunkyFingers Dark Knight (no pix as have shown before).  Stamped using an image from Yours YS11 using Esmaltes da Kelly stamping polishes in Bee, Chuvisco, Icaro, Cleo and Dixie.  Shown below with no top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

I did my other hand lightly different and liked how it turned out.  The idea for the left hand was for it to be a gradient of stamping so the colours would mix a bit more on each of the nails but it didn't happen that way.  I liked how the index finger stamped though so used the same part of the image on all on the nails here on the right hand.

Here's the other ladies Day 1 whimsy mani's!

Not Your Typical Christmas Nails!

When I sat down to do my nails a couple nights ago, I was wanting to do something a little bit less traditional to wear, but still in the holiday spirit, if that makes sense as I was tiring of wearing red, green and white!  This is what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Butter London Gobsmacked with accent fingers of Esmaltes da Kelly Citrino, no top coat.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using CND Gold Chrome using Bundle Monster BM-H03; accent fingers are BundleMonster BM-SE1 using black Konad.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I thought the stamping on the BundleMonster nails might be more visible if they were matted so topped with OPI Matte.

I was going to initially stamp all fingers with the floral images and in hindsight, I wish I would have done that as think the fine stamping on BL Gobsmacked gets lost, but do like the colour combination of the charcoal and gold; I'm sure I'll try it again another time!  I'm on the fence about this one; maybe more traditional colours would have been the way to go lol!
