Pac-Man Nails!

A couple months ago, Digit-al Dozen had a theme of games and while I had every intention of participating that month as I did have a few mani's done, life just got the better of me and I never was able to post them in time.  Couldn't do it just even a few days late; just had too much going on and had to sit out.  I *think* that month was the first time I haven't participated, although there are a few months that I'm one or two mani's short for the month.  Anyway, I did have this mani ready but just no time to share so thought I'd share it now.

Oh and speaking of Digit-al Dozen, the group is looking for new members!  You must be able to participate on a monthly basis, we do five mani's a month based on a theme that we have voted upon and you must have an active blog.  The great thing about the group (IMHO) is we have the monthly challenges and for me anyway, I find that I do some of my best nail art based on the challenges as I'm trying to keep up with all the other talent, plus there have been a lot of times when I've tried new things or a style of nail art that I wouldn't have done necessarily if not for participating in the group.  If this sounds like something you're interested in, please leave a message on this post, or message me via email or message any current member on IG, FB, etc.  Thanks so much!

Anyway,  here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of CND Creative Play Nocturne , three coats.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using MJ VII (thumb controller), Stampaholic 8 (Pac Man and words on thumb and pinky), and all other images are from Delaney Jeux Videos.  Used Mdu 11, 54, 68 and 107, Painted Polish Blanc Slate and FUN red stamping polish.  This is literally the only red stamping polish that shows up well over dark colours....I'm going to have to eek out every last drop of it as the bottle I have isn't very large.  Thankfully, I don't use it that often but I will be sad when it is finished.

Delaney Jeux Videos.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  Unfortunately, the FUN red didn't take too kindly to the top coat.

Please excuse nasty cuticle, but this was thumb on Ms. Cindy; I liked it better than the shared thumb.

The FUN stamping polish didn't react very well to the top coat so touched it up and then recoated.

Then tidied up the nails a bit; added yellow dots on middle fingere and some dotted eyes on the index and middle fingers using Painted Polish Blanc Slate and Midnight Mischief.  The FUN red stamping polish was still not liking the top coat so touched it up some more.

Did a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Stamping; Day 4

For Day 4 of Digit-al Dozen does stamping challenge, I'm sharing this mani that I thought turned out pretty cool with some distressed looking stamping.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of CND Creative Play Steel The Show, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Using a combination of Cbl stamping polish in Royalty and Lilac Petals, as well as MdU 42 and FunkyFingers Gesso, stamped using an image from Sugar Bubbles SB 040.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Mythic Creatures; Day 3

I'm running late for Day 3's mythic creature challenge, but here it is!  Hopefully you can make out this mythic creature as the image was a big one as you can see!  It was tricky to stamp as well as necessitating some acrobatic finger poses but hopefully your eyes 'drag on' this mythical creature!  (How was that for a clue!) Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of one coat of Barielle Irish Eyes, no top coat.

Added a very thin coat of CND Creative Play Express Ur Em-Oceans, no top coat.

Added KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

For the scales, stamped using image from Vivid Lacquer VL022 using CND Gold Chrome.

There's another image on VL022 that has the filled in scales, so I stamped on top using Hit The Bottle Electric Indigo and Hit The Bottle I Blue It All On Polish, trying for a multichrome dragon scale look.  The idea here was also to shadow stamp (even though this plate came out before shadow stamping so the images don't line up that well) but to also have a hint of the base polishes peeking through.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using another image on the same VL022 plate using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Thought that if I matted it, the base and outline might show up a little better, so added a coat of OPi Matte.

Here's the other ladies Day 3 mani's!

Digit-al Dozen Does Mythical Creatures; Day 1

It's Digit-al Dozen week and this month's challenge is Mythical Creatures.  When I sat down to do this mani, I knew the image I wanted to use and the plan was that this would be Lock Ness Monster-ish for mythical creatures.  When I actually looked at the image, it was cuter than the pictures I've seen of the Lock Ness Monster but I still wanted to use it so this is more Caribbean Sea Monster than Lock Ness Monster.  But maybe this guy has been seen off the shore of Jamaica or Bahama's, who knows!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI The I's Have It.

Did a sponged gradient using OPI The I's Have It, Morgan Taylor Don't Touch Me, I'm Radioactive and Morgan Taylor Deja Blue.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Made stamper decals using images from Apipila Super Place A.  Image outline is Painted Polish Stamped in Greenery, and filled in with MdU 11 and 13.

Added CND Creative Play Express Ur Em-oceans at the tips to mimic glistening water.

Stamped thumb using Infinity 75 (sun) and Infinity 52 using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Stamped on ring using same image from Infinity 52.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Tim Hortons 2016 #WarmWishes Mani

Ever holiday season, I look forward to the seasonal cups that Tim Horton releases for their beverages. This year didn't disappoint and I've had at least one of every size over the last few weeks during my near daily trips for my morning triple-triple or sometimes a smaller regular later in the day.  So decided to do a mani based on the four different designs this year; snowman is  small, nutcracker is a medium, snowman is a large and reindeer is an extra-large.  This is what I came up with!

Started with with a base of CND Creative Play You've Got Kale, L'Oreal Plaid Please, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and China Glaze Desert Sun. All are two coats, no top coat.

Added  coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the thumb; I ultimately decided to sponge on all the colours and hoped they turned out decently as they aren't really colours that I would pick to go together.

For the sweater design, used an image from Bunny Nails HD-F using CND Green Scene over the CND and the rest are custom blends using a combination of polishes and/or MdU stamping polishes.

Topped everything off with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I made a few stamper decals using UberChic UC Christmas-01, for snowman, Born Pretty BP-11 for collar, MJ VII for reindeer and CICI & SISI 30 for moustache on nutcracker.

Applied the stamper decals as shown below.  Whatever else shown is freehand with brush and acrylic paints or polishes.

Topped everything off with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

For the thumb, added words from same Bunny Nails plate, accenting with holly from EJB-03 which I have used time and time again this year!  They just seem to be the perfect holly and in a great size for my nails!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

The next morning, I decided to add a coat of Girly Bits Polish Matte'rs to be more in line with the finish of the cups.

Here's what the cups looks like if you haven't seen them (photo courtesy of Tim Hortons).
