Digit-al Dozen Does Marble; Day 2

I did these nails a couple weeks ago right after I had cut my nails down to nubs.  As I love the look of dark polish on shorties, I decided to go with a base that is darker than I usually wear!  This is what I came up with for Day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen marble challenge (and yes, there is marble in there!)

Started with a base of three coats of Nails Inc. St. Martin's Lane.  FYI, two coats is fine coverage IRL; only did three as the lighting showed a few bare spots that weren't noticeable to the eye so I ended up putting on a third coat for blogging picture purposes.

Stamped with Forever 21 Gold Metallic using image from Lesly 35.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on top.

While I didn't mind the look of just the marble stamping, I wanted a bit more.  So double stamped using another image from same Lesly 35 plate using MdU 101.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Pastel Easter Eggs!

Easter has kinda snuck up on me and unfortunately, I don't have any Easter mani's ready.  The holiday lover in me is kinda sad about that.  With St. Patrick's Day, then Digit-al Dozen and life, just haven't gotten around to doing them.  Same for spring.  I am sad about this for sure.  A lot of it too has to do with the fact that I've been busy nights and weekends spending as much time as possible rearranging and organizing my polish space.  And as a result of this, I'm too tired at night to think about doing my nails; plus my nails are taking a beating, that's for sure! But some set backs are worth it for the ultimate goal of having an organized mani area I think.  To top it off, I've been battling a cold with a bad cough for almost a week.  Not that it stops me from doing my nails, just that it makes me want to cuddle under the blankets at night versus doing my nails! Anyway, here's some Easter egg nails I did on the weekend.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of skittles using Nails Inc. Cambridge Grove, OPI It's A Boy!, China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint, Nails Inc. Mayfair Mansion Mews and China Glaze Lemon Fizz, all two coats, no topcoat.

Added a light coat of Nails Inc. Good Vibes.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I think this lighting shows the sparkle and colour changing in the top coat a bit better.  It really is such a pretty top coat!

Stamped using an image from CICI & SISI 12 using Funky Fingers Gesso.  Thank goodness for a clear stamper....and even then, I didn't get all the nails the same.  Maybe some day I'll get this stamping thing down!

Hope you're having a great day!  Thanks for looking!

Digit-al Dozen Does Futuristic; Day 2

For Day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen Futuristic theme, I did galaxy nails with someone floating out in space, as in maybe in the future, we might to go space for the weekend like we go to the cottage for the weekend!   Wouldn't that be cool???!!

Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Star Gazer 305; this is three coats.  While it is beautiful, it was still patchy and oh, the tips; I couldn't get polish to stick to them no matter what!  I didn't worry too much about it as I knew I'd be sponging and would make sure they got covered.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

For my attempt at galaxy nails, sponged on Pahlish Boo-Ya!

Then sponged on Nails Inc. Regents Place, then a little FunkyFingers Gesso here and there.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I made a stamper decal using an image from Creative Shop 29.

After cutting out the stars, applied to thumb.

Then stamped using my most favourite star image from the same plate, Creative Shop 29.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does (5 Days, 5) Continents; Day 4

For day 4 of Digit-al Dozen does 5 continents in 5 days, I went with (what I hope is) Japanese cherry blossoms representative of Asia.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a sponged gradient base using Barry M Grey, London Butter Sprog, Nails Inc. Mayfair Mansion Mews and Beyond Daydreamer.

Added KBShimmer Clearly on Top before stamping.

Stamped using images from Delaney Asiatique 001 using MdU 2.

Delaney Asiatique 001

Added cherry blossoms using image from same plate using white, light and deep pinks.

Added branches again from Delaney Asiatique 001, then stamped on the crane on missing finger from UberChic UC The Far East 002 (wished it had have been higher, but sigh!  Even with clear stamper, still get it wrong lol)

UC The Far East 02

A mini piece of art!  Love!

Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I could not believe how many countries there were in Asia when I was researching the theme; I guess it's been a while since I did geography! I thought of so many other mani's based on other countries I could do and it was hard to narrow it down to this...but food for thought for future nails!

First of the Fall Mani's!

I've been resisting doing fall mani's for a couple weeks now even though I've seen a lot of them being posted lately.  The darker, muted colours traditionally used aren't my favourites as I'm definitely more of a brights person (one only needs to glance quickly at my Instagram or Pinterest account collages to confirm this!!)   The other problem is the weather has been beautiful and sunny the last few days....I still want to wear beautiful brights in this warm, sunny fall weather we are having right now!  But I have done a few fall mani's so they will be starting to pop up here and there over the next few weeks.  This is one I did last weekend in an attempt to think outside of the box and not stamp on a plain creme base.  It's not my favourite of the fall mani's I've done but if anything I've found since I've been blogging is usually what I like, no one else likes and what I think is a total fail, gets lots of loving.  You be the judge!  Here's what I came up with.

I did this mani in cottage country and only have natural daylight.  I started early evening and it was still sunny but when I finished, the sun and daylight was fading fast so lighting wasn't the best and lots of shading in some pix.

Started with a base of two coats of L'Oreal Safari Chic, no topcoat.

As I mentioned at the start of the post, by the time I had done this mani, I had done two or three fall manis, all on creme bases (acknowledging I haven't shared them yet here).  So I wanted to do something a little different.  I had picked up a boxed set of full size Nails Inc. polishes recently at Winners (score at $9.99!) and in the set was Nails Inc. The Donmar which is a flaky.  For little base interest, added it on top of Safari Chic.

Shade pix.

Can I just say, why can't every pix be like this one...half in the sun and half in the shade!  It was just a fluke; I doubt I could replicate it if I ever tried.

Stamped using assortment of images; Lesly LS-20 (thumb and pinky), Messy Mansion MM19 (index and middle), Chez Automne001 (ring), MoYou Landscape Collection-02 (accent leaves).  For stamping, used Konad black special polish and assortment of Sally Hansen Insta-dri's.

Messy Mansion MM19

Gave the tree on the middle finger some fall leaves!

Top coated to finish.

This pix you can see the stamping best but unfortunately, full of fibres...story of my (stamping) life!

I really like the flaky interest on the thumb with the black contrast but too much going on with the coloured stamping even for my busy stamping style!

What do you think...and if you're not a fan of it, please let me know and no hard feelings.....I got big shoulders lol!

Thanks for looking!

P.S. Isn't this the worst picture ever?  Looks like my nails are full of craters!

Bonus pix of my right hand which is slightly different.....not too shabby if you can overlook the dry cuticles!
