Happy Birthday!!!

Today, my baby boy turns 23! These are the nails I did for his birthday last year but didn't get around to sharing!

MoYou London Festive 69.

Started with a base of two coats of Painted Polish Fingertip Fandom on a white blur base, no top coat.  With all these colours, it's like a party on your nails, which is just the look I was wanting!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Nailways Spring Time - Birthday Cake

I made a whole bunch of stamper decals; on the middle and ring, used MoYou London Festive 02, and on the pinky and index used MoYou London Festive 9.  The thumb is Nailways Spring Time-Birthday Cake shadow stamped.  Used MdU 80, 83, 91, Painted polish Midnight Mischief and Clear Jelly Stamper Relay Red as stamping polishes.

Added flames, which was first stamped with MdU 83, then shadow stamped a mixture of MdU 107 and MdU 9.

I added yellow dots to the stars on the middle finger and some colourful sprinkles to the cupcake on the ring for some added colour and interest, as well as accented the flames on thee candles just a bit more to look a little bit more interesting.

Added a few party streamers from the Nailways plate on the ring finger.

Topped with a base of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Books; Day 2

As I couldn't think of a mani to do with a book that I have read, I got to thinking, what type of books are there?  Comic books came to mind; one of my favourites as a kid were the Archie comic books and my day 2 mani is inspired by them!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Pahlish Sailing the Hispaniola, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Applied stamper decals that I had made using FUN 11 (Veronica, Archie and Betty) and MJ XXII (Jughead).  I used regular nail polishes for the filling in and the skin tone was a pretty transparent nude by Essie so unfortunately, it wasn't very opaque and some of the base can be seen under the skin.  I'll have to remember to use something more opaque next time. The thumb lettering is Nailways Back to Basics 123 ABC.

Added dots for filler and interest using same colours as on decals; CND Bicycle Yellow, China Glaze That'll Peach You and FunkyFingers Gesso.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Birthdays; October 2016!

It's Digit-al Dozen Birthday time; this month, we're celebrating Amber from Nails Like Lace's birthday which was a couple weeks ago!  Happy belated Birthday, Amber!  For each birthday post, the birthday girl picks an inspirational photo and the members do mani's based on the pix she chose.  Based on Amber's pick of Unicorn Wood, this is what I came up with!

This is the inspirational photo, aptly titled Unicorn Wood!

To create the effect, I did blobs of polishes in what I hoped would be close colours on a sponge.  Used Essie I'm Addicted, Essie Castaway, Essie High Class Affair and Essie Sittin' Pretty.

Applied one thin coat of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as a base.  Then repetitively pressed my nail into the sponge hoping to hit the same spot pretty much until the colours where dark enough.  I did these nails first thing this morning and apparently I was still sleeping as I forgot to apply liquid latex!

Cleaned up as best as I could.

Added a coat of magical unicorn dust aka I Love Nail Polish My Private Rainbow (Scattered).

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I made a stamper decal using an image from BM XL214 and the same polishes; white is acrylic paint. (Edit from original post to add:  This image was double stamped; first with Uber Chic Luxe stamper to shrink, then onto a stamper to make a stamper decal.  This is why the image is reversed from the original image.)

Applied the decal.

Using the same image as the unicorn, stamped on star background by double and triple stamping as needed using GirlyBits clear jelly stamper.

Bundle Monster BM-XL214

Added unicorns from Nailways Darker Period Fairy Tails using FunkyFingers Dark Knight.  (I could not for the life of me get one. single. clear. jelly. stamper. to stamp these images thankfully I was able to use my regular go to FAB UR Nails semi-squishy and place the images decently.  But it so annoying when the clear jelly stampers don't work well!)

Finished the mani off with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas Does Animals

It's 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge; this weeks theme is animals.  I thought for today's mani, I would do a tribute mani to our family fur baby, Spike.  Although its been two weeks now since he has no longer been with us, we still expect to see him greeting us at the door when we get home, watch for him to be sitting at the patio door to be let out, check the area where his water and food bowl was kept to see if he needs any. I guess this will pass in time, but all this is still fresh in our minds and we still look for him and think we hear his bark every now and then.

R.I. P. Spike

Started with a base of two coats of Lippman Run, Run Rudolph, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and one coat of Funky Fingers Dark Knight.  Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Stamped using images from Uber Chic Furry Best Friends using Funky Fingers Gesso, Funky Fingers Dark Knight and Konad red special polish.  The letters are from Nailways Back to Basics 123 ABC using original clear jelly stamper (which is only stamper I could get to pick up images for the letters as well as placing images on the thumb).

Digit-al Dozen Does Spring; Day 3

Here's the Day 3 mani that I skipped posting earlier this week for the Digit-al Dozen spring challenge. Unfortunately, just didn't have enough time to do the blog post even though I had the nails done and uploaded so sorry about that.  This mani features the spring saying, "April Showers, Bring May Flowers!" Here's what I came up with!

Started with a sponged gradient using KBShimmer Leggo My Mango, KBShimmer Bahama Drama and Girly Bits Hoop! There It Is.  Unfortunately, these pix don't show the vibrancy of the nails; they were much brighter in person.  Also, the darker part of the gradient that the Girly Bits was used is more pink, not orange/coral looking as shown.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Stamped using MdU 4 (smaller words on index and ring), Marianne n.99 (flowers on pinky and thumb), FUN 15 (couple on middle), Nailways Back to Basics 123 ABC (April on index) and UberChic UC 3-03 (raindrops on middle).  I had every intention of using the words April Showers.. from the Marianne n.99 plate but even with shrinking, couldn't get the images small enough to fit my nails.  I think perhaps if I had have double stamped them using two UC Luxe stampers, they might have fit but didn't think of it at the the time.  I did individual letters for April but ended up using the MdU 4 plate for the rest, but I wish the images are just a smidgen too small.

We had more than our share of showers this past week; I guess spring is right around the corner!  I even seen a robin this morning so I guess it is right on time with the official arrival of spring tomorrow!
