Digit-al Dozen Does Books; Day 3

Today's mani shows my most liked genre of books; romance.  I do a fair amount of reading and I would have to say that my most read genre by far is romance.  Favourite authors are Nora Roberts, Fern Michaels, Lesley Pearce and Maeve Binchy; if you are familiar with them, then you have read the romance lol.  If I have a preference, it's a novel set in a past century because I like to read about how people lived way back when.  I also really enjoyed the Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel's again because it is set in prehistoric times and I found it fascinating how people lived.  Not lived, survived.  The Earth's Children series isn't romance related but I did enjoy the series.  So here's to some romantic reading!

Started with a base of three coats of Nubar Grape with accent of two coats of Girly Bits Stayin' Alive.

Topped a couple of the nails with FunkyFingers Unicorn Dust for some layering interest.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using BundleMonster BM-XL201 on all nails except ring which is BP-L13 using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I also took a picture of the mani outside; you can see the layering a bit better.  I mean, look at the thumb?  Not bad for a $1.67 polish!!!

Digit-al Dozen Does Marble; Day 4

I'm terribly sorry for being late with this, my day 4 Digit-al Dozen challenge.  Unfortunately life got in the way of me finishing my posts last week even though I had all the nails done.

This is a dry drip marble that I did; it turned out pretty cool if I don't say so myself!  And with Valentine's Day around the corner, decided to decorate it with a few hearts.  Just a few!  Here's what I came up with!

Started by making a few drip marble decals using OPI Fearlessly Alice, OPI My Pal Joey and OPI The I've Have It.  This trio of OPI's seem to go together pretty well!

Applied decals.  Note to self for future use:  I made these decals about a week before I used them and they were very hard and brittle because of that.  I would suggest to use up any decal in a few days or even the day made so they are more pliable to mold to the nail if you will and not be so brittle!  I did have a couple areas dry flake off while they were on the nail before I could top coat them and I just used one of the polishes and hand brushed to cover.  See the thumb in this picture?

See the thumb in this picture?  I touched up the flaked off polish with brush applied polish.  Not that noticeable!

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using assortment of images using Mezerdoo 36 (thumb), FUN 21 (index), Wistonia Wedded Bliss (middle), BFF 52 (ring) and BP-L013 (pinky) using MdU 1.  Even with a clear stamper, I still can't get the thumb image centered!  Close but not center exactly!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Halloween!

This weeks theme for 40 Great Nail Art Ideas is Halloween; how appropriate as it's tomorrow lol!  This is a pretty simple design by my favourite Halloween mani this year for sure!  Here's what I came up with!

This was my inspiration; a hand towel I bought a couple weeks ago at Marshalls!

Started with a base of two coats of Sinful Colors Burn Rubber; no topcoat.  This is a textured polish but unfortunately didn't have as much texture as I would have liked.

Stamped using Born Pretty BP-L013 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Added pumpkin faces using an image from Chez Halloween 002 using Funky Fingers Dark Knight.  Considering this was a mani that I could not get the clear jelly stamper to work and I placed these images by regular stamping method, I was thrilled how well I lined them up; the middle is slightly off but other than that, I thought I did ok! (I couldn't understand why the stamper wouldn't work when I had used it so many times with no issues and then all of a sudden had problems; this is when I discovered if you roll the image with a good amount of pressure, it will pick up.  I retried this image and got it to work OK after that.)

Added a coat of top coat to finish.

Please excuse terribly bad cuticles, but this was my right hand; I think I lined it up better that my left hand lol!
