Spring Arrived....Didn't It?

This past weekend, my area was under an extreme cold alert....again.  Plus, there were reports of flurries and a trace of snow when people woke up Sunday morning.  (I can't confirm this myself as I guess everything was melted by 10:30 am lol). Anyway, even though the alert is lifted now, it is still pretty chilly out there (not February cold, but cold enough!); I guess Mother Nature forgot that Spring arrived last week! But with the return of the colder temperatures, it's a good time to share another snowflake mani that I did this past winter!

Started with a base of two coats of Lilypad Lacquer Rebel at heart on all fingers except accent.  Accent is three coats of Contrary Polish Frozen with a coat of Glitter Gal Light as a Feather.

Different ligthing; can see holo a bit better!

Stamped using white Konad special polish and Mundo de Unas #9 using Sugar Bubbles Special 02.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Thanks for looking!

Candy Cane Stripes

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!  I've spent the last few days either travelling to see family or working, including dealing with homes that still are without hydro from the ice storm a week ago.  Many homes in Toronto and other parts of the GTA that have been without power for 7 days. It certainly has been a trying week; I truly hope that power is restored to most by tomorrow as reported in the media.

This is a very quick mani I did Christmas Eve and what I had on my nails on Christmas Day.

Started with a base of three coats of Glitter Gal Light as a Feather; topped with SV.

Stamped using BM-423 using red and green Konad special polish. Unfortunately, my squishy stamper wouldn't work with this plate and I had to use the Konad stamper.  The squishy stamper works better on my curvy tips and sides so I was really hoping to use it, not to mention I seem to place tricky designs like this better (straighter) when I can place my nail into the stamper versus roll the stamper like you have to with Konad.  But no choice but to use Konad when the squishy stamper wouldn't work!

Even though my nails aren't terribly long, the image didn't fit onto my thumb that well (or I did a really bad placement job, which could be the case too!)

To fill the gap, I used a french tip design from Sugar Bubbles Special 001 at the tip of my thumb using same Konad green.  I also added a holly from Chez Xmas 001.  Using a fine tipped brush, I filled in a little to the tips and other areas where the stamping was missed.

Topped with SV to finish.

Digit-al Dozen; Day 5, Black n White

Day 5 of the Digital Dozen black and white challenge. As difficult as I thought the challenge was, the funny thing is that I had 3 mani's done before the week started and did another 3 during the course of the week ....so if you are counting, that's 6 black and white mani's completed for a challenge that I thought at the beginning of the week was hard!  Plus, the more I looked at my plates, the more ideas I came up with and have at least another 5 ideas that I didn't do.  They will have to wait for another time, perhaps another challenge.  I do know that when I do my nails tonight, they are going to be insanely colourful after three days this week of black and white mani's.  Well, maybe not insanely colourful but some colour at least!

I decided to use black and white holographic polishes to mix up the bases again versus the cremes already done. Started with a base of  two coats of Glitter Gal Light as a Feather and Color Club Beyond, no topcoat.  I did a coat of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls before adding the GG in the hopes that it would be more white versus gray looking; not sure if this helped or hindered!

I like this slightly blurry pix as the holo is a little bit more pronounced.

Stamped using FUN black stamping polish using Konad m72.

Topped with HKGirl QD topcoat to finish.

I can't seem to catch a break in the cuticle department lately, especially on my middle finger so I was fooling around with taking pix. Unless there's some drastic improvement soon, I'm thinking this may have to be my new finger pose to eliminate the ouchies!

Lastly, I generally test out the stamping on my right hand before doing the left.  I had stamped a finger with white as my intention was to do white stamping on the black and the black on the white.  But the white was too white versus the GG polish which wasn't as white, so that's why I did black on black.  But I did double stamp the test nail and I thought it looked kinda cool so thought I'd share.  Another idea for a future mani.

Have you enjoyed Digit-al Dozen black and white challenge?  I'm personally amazed at the variety and originality the group came up with using predominately black and white only (with a few personal interpretations in the mix!).

Have a great weekend; and thanks for looking!

edited to correct polish name!

Digit-al Dozen DOES It Again; Day 4, Festiveness

This is a mani I've had in archives since last Christmas as I didn't have time to post it at the time but I think it works well with the Festiveness theme....plus it doesn't seem too odd posting it now as it's not over the top Christmas-y!

Started with a base of two coats of Glitter Gal Teal Green.

Here's one coat pf Glitter Gal Teal for comparison purpose.  One coat gave pretty good coverage and I would do just the one if I was looking for a lighter shade of teal or if I was going to stamp with a full size image that was going to cover a lot of space...and it would extend my bottle of polish!

Stamped using CND Gold Chrome using BM306 (candy) and Apipila 01 (stripes).  I remember at the time being so proud of myself finally getting lines relatively lined up and not all wobbly as sometimes happen with straight line images like this!

Another pix as it shows the holo underneath a little better!

Here's the other ladies Festiveness mani's!

Don't forget that the Digit-al Dozen is having a Giveaway....for more information and to enter, please go here!

Stars

I've had this mani in archives for almost two months so thought I'd share as part of the blues-posting-fest in support of Autism Awareness for April.  I have enough mani's archived now to do a blue mani post every day between now and the 30th but the kicker will be if I have enough time to do type up the posts to go along with them!  I guess if I don't get around to getting them posted before the 30th, they'll show up at some point!  (I already know I won't get them all posted because I started to type this Wednesday and it's late Friday night by the time I'm finally finishing this post and already know a busy weekend is planned, so the rest of the blues will be posted at a later time.)

Started with a base of two coats of Glitter Gal Marine Blue.  This has no topcoat.

Stamped using white Konad special polish using MJ IV (thumb and middle), Apipila 01 (index), Big SdP B (pinky) and XXL Big SdP-01 (ring).

Topped with Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Fast Dry top coat.

I'm now sporting other colours on my nails even thought I'll still be sharing blue mani's until the end of the month.  As much as I love blues...and it certainly is a good cause....it is nice to see another colour on my nails other than blue! They too will show up at another time lol!

Have a great weekend....we are finally going to be getting some nice weather...time for some yard work....thanks for looking!

Canada Day Nails

Happy Belated Canada Day to all my Canadian nail pals!  Here and abroad...as I know I frequently get messages from gals who are Canadian and for one reason or another, reside in another country.  Here's the nails I was wearing on Canada Day.

Started with a base of OPI Red My Fortune Cookie, two coats.

Added a coat of Glitter Gal Red.  I don't see any other name on my bottle other than red, sorry if I missed it.

Another pix of this gorgeous holo.  Hard to believe its just one coat.

Stamped using fauxnad m56 with white Konad special polish.  To be honest, I'm lucky I had a plate to do Canada Day nails with me at all.  I had another mani in mind for Canada Day using the maple leaf french tip image from the new Mash plates.  But for some reason, when I was getting a few plates together to use for the weekend, I thought the plate I wanted was in the new Bundle Monster set and only grabbed this plate to take in case I wanted to add the Canada Flag image.  Well, thank goodness I did because the only other plates I had with me were Bundle Monster...and the image I wanted was on the Mash set.  I was kinda ticked off at myself but I guess there's always next year! lol!  I was telling my husband how I brought the wrong plates with me and how ticked I was at myself and his response was...believe it or not....why don't you just buy two sets of everything and just keep a set here so you have them on the weekend so you don't forget anything!

A couple other views, this one in slightly less sunny skies.  The single maple leaf images are the middle of the flag alone polished and scrapped than randomly placed.

This pix was taken in the shade.

I thought I'd share some pix of part of the Canada Day festivities I attended.  After singing the National Anthem, there's the release of red and white balloons.

Up....

...up.....

...and away!!!

Sorry I didn't get around to posting this earlier but unfortunately, I don't have reliable internet connection on the weekends and didn't get home until late last night.  I probably should get my stuff together and have a mani ready in advance or have schedule posts or something like this when I have unreliable internet service....one of these days I'll get it together!

Hope you had a great weekend....and thanks for looking!
