Digit-al Dozen Does Re-creation of Digit-al Dozen; Day 2

It was really cool to check out everyone's blogs yesterday to see the mani's that the ladies recreated and how they interpreted; there were a lot of amazing mani's, that's for sure!

Here's what I came up for Day 2 which is a little bit of two ladies who did Raggedy Ann and Andy doll mani's for past challenges.

Adventures in Acetone did Raggedy Ann and Andy for Vintages and A Little Polish did a verions as well for Childhood; I took a little bit of inspiration from both for my recreation! Darn it, I just noticed as I'm doing the post I missed the black dots on the red dots!  Whooops!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI My Vampire is Buff with blue accent of China Glaze License & Registration Pls.

Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Using a the biggest dotter I have, added random dots on accents.  Then I made a custom stamping polish directly on the plate to try to match the blue on my nails as well as the stamper decals I had premade. Stamped on an image from Handy 24 on pinky then did a second image using red Konad special polish.

Added smaller dots with a slightly smaller dotter using red Konad special polish.

These are the stamper decals I made using images from MJ XVI and acrylic paints.  Not the best but I'm surprised I did this good; the images are so small the it was hard to fill in even with my smallest brush.

Here's the three stamper decals I made although I didn't end up using the pair.  It was really hard to paint so small images so not the best plus they look like angry, scary, going out to trick or treat with Chucky dolls!

Added Raggedy Ann and Andy stamper decals.  I somewhat messed up here because I top coated my whole nail before applying the decal but the decal wasn't the size of the entire nail.  So I smooshed up the top coat all over the nail when applying the decal.  To fix this, had to add a really thick coat of top coat which is why there are so many bubbles (I think).

My solution for bubble coverage was to add dots!  So made more custom polish for the dots and used red Konad.

Top coated with KBShimmer to finish.

Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns on Patterns; Day 5

We are at Day 5 of the hardest Digit-al Dozen challenge ever; patterns on patterns.  Hard for me; but by the looks of the other ladies, mani's, it was easy peasy!  Hopefully you have had a chance to check out all the ladies creative mani's this week as there have been a lot of crazy cool mani's, that's for sure!  This is my final mani...and I went all out with pattern on pattern on pattern!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base coat of two layers of Zoya Lara, topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

For the first patterns, stamped using Funky Fingers Dark Night using an image from Handy 24.

Stamped on the second pattern using same Handy plate using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

While I was happy with this, I wanted to take it one step further so decided to stamp on yet another pattern using Apipila P.17 using Mundo de Unas 52, then topped with KBShimmer to finish.  This is over the top, but again, was just testing myself to see how far I could go with this pattern challenge!

I have to show this next pix; anyone who has stamped lines knows how hard it is to line them up, get them straight on the nails above aren't bad but still not perfect.  Well I stamped a near perfect nail placement wise for the lines ...but fail none the less lol.  Grr...this is why I top coat my nails before stamping for easy removal.

Here's the other ladies Day 5 mani's.

Hopefully you've enjoyed seeing every one's patterns on patterns this week!

Digital Dozen; Fashion, Day 5

Day 5 of Fashion Week!  When I was thinking of fashion, it got me to thinking about designers....those who create the awesome fashions!  After searching through some pix on the internet and my plate stash to see what images I have that may relate to fashion labels, this is what I came up with.

I'll be honest; this seemed so much cooler in my head....and to top it off, there were a couple fingers that the stamping is so way off which was disappointing so what could have been "wow, really cool!" is just 'OK'.

Anyhooo, base polishes used, starting at thumb and going clockwise are CQ Vintage, FingerPaints Black Expressionism, OPI Bride's Bouquet, Borghese Almondine and OPI Bride's Bouquet again; all two coats, topped with SV.

For the fabric look I was going for to mimic the Gucci purse, sponged index finger using Barry M Mushroom and Quo by Orly Naked.

Stamped using assortment of Konad special polishes using Handy 24 (thumb), Handy 26 (index) GA21 (lines), Handy 12 (Chanel logo), Handy 17 (index), and Handy 14 (pinky).

For a little added bling.....this is fashion week so I think it is appropriate....added a few colourful rhinestones to the index finger.

Topped with SV to finish.

(Still ticked at myself for really missing the mark on the Burberry and Chanel fingers!)

Here's a look at the Handy plates that have fashion images on them; there's a few more than the ones  used here.

A couple notes about these Handy plates; they stamp well and I was especially impressed with how well the very small, detailed images stamp. For example, the Gucci image used on the ring finger; to get images that small and in such detail is amazing for a stamping plate!  However, the full size images are on the smaller side and may not fit fully on the nail for those with long or wide nails.

These Handy plates and more can be seen on Mundo de Unas' FB page here.

Pix used for inspiration.
