Digit-al Dozen Does Colours; Day 2

I discovered that most of the mani's I was going to share this week were bright colours with negative space stamping.  Which is OK but might be a tad boring for sharing so I thought I had better mix up the colours a bit!  Here's my day 2 colour mani for Digit-al Dozen week!

Started with a base of two coats of Pretty & Polished No One Fights Alone, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using Lina Feeling Shapely! 01 using MdU 91.

Stamped the rest of the nails using MdU 1 using image from CICI & SISI-Spring 04.

I isolated the floral images from the same image on the CICI & SISI plate and stamped it on the lines.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Dotted the center of the flowers using MdU 66 and 91 for some added colour and interest.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Here's the other ladies day 2 mani's!

Pastel Easter Eggs!

Easter has kinda snuck up on me and unfortunately, I don't have any Easter mani's ready.  The holiday lover in me is kinda sad about that.  With St. Patrick's Day, then Digit-al Dozen and life, just haven't gotten around to doing them.  Same for spring.  I am sad about this for sure.  A lot of it too has to do with the fact that I've been busy nights and weekends spending as much time as possible rearranging and organizing my polish space.  And as a result of this, I'm too tired at night to think about doing my nails; plus my nails are taking a beating, that's for sure! But some set backs are worth it for the ultimate goal of having an organized mani area I think.  To top it off, I've been battling a cold with a bad cough for almost a week.  Not that it stops me from doing my nails, just that it makes me want to cuddle under the blankets at night versus doing my nails! Anyway, here's some Easter egg nails I did on the weekend.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of skittles using Nails Inc. Cambridge Grove, OPI It's A Boy!, China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint, Nails Inc. Mayfair Mansion Mews and China Glaze Lemon Fizz, all two coats, no topcoat.

Added a light coat of Nails Inc. Good Vibes.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I think this lighting shows the sparkle and colour changing in the top coat a bit better.  It really is such a pretty top coat!

Stamped using an image from CICI & SISI 12 using Funky Fingers Gesso.  Thank goodness for a clear stamper....and even then, I didn't get all the nails the same.  Maybe some day I'll get this stamping thing down!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Hope you're having a great day!  Thanks for looking!

Snowflakes!

That dreaded white stuff has swirled around a couple times now; not nearly like the amount that some are posting, but it will soon be here.  So I had snowflakes on the brain when I sat down to do these nails not too long ago; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Girly Bits Past and Present, no topcoat.

Stamped some lines using Marianne Nails n.42 using Mdu 64.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  I did like this tone on tone look but decided to add more stamping.

Stamped using CICI & SISI23 using MdU 1.  I really liked that even thought this mani was double stamped, you can still see the sparkle of the holo in Past and Present shine through!

CICI & SISI 23

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish. I was afraid that the snowflakes would turn purple from the base coat but it was good!  The white stayed....well, as white as snow!

Tim Hortons 2016 #WarmWishes Mani

Ever holiday season, I look forward to the seasonal cups that Tim Horton releases for their beverages. This year didn't disappoint and I've had at least one of every size over the last few weeks during my near daily trips for my morning triple-triple or sometimes a smaller regular later in the day.  So decided to do a mani based on the four different designs this year; snowman is  small, nutcracker is a medium, snowman is a large and reindeer is an extra-large.  This is what I came up with!

Started with with a base of CND Creative Play You've Got Kale, L'Oreal Plaid Please, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and China Glaze Desert Sun. All are two coats, no top coat.

Added  coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the thumb; I ultimately decided to sponge on all the colours and hoped they turned out decently as they aren't really colours that I would pick to go together.

For the sweater design, used an image from Bunny Nails HD-F using CND Green Scene over the CND and the rest are custom blends using a combination of polishes and/or MdU stamping polishes.

Topped everything off with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I made a few stamper decals using UberChic UC Christmas-01, for snowman, Born Pretty BP-11 for collar, MJ VII for reindeer and CICI & SISI 30 for moustache on nutcracker.

Applied the stamper decals as shown below.  Whatever else shown is freehand with brush and acrylic paints or polishes.

Topped everything off with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

For the thumb, added words from same Bunny Nails plate, accenting with holly from EJB-03 which I have used time and time again this year!  They just seem to be the perfect holly and in a great size for my nails!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

The next morning, I decided to add a coat of Girly Bits Polish Matte'rs to be more in line with the finish of the cups.

Here's what the cups looks like if you haven't seen them (photo courtesy of Tim Hortons).

NEW Crumpets Nail Art Challenge; Black Base

This weeks challenge is black base which worked out well as I've been really wanting to try the image on a new plate that I got recently; here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of one coat of FunkyFingers Dark Knight.

I had received group buy order of CICI & SISI plates; the first image that caught me eye was this one on CICI & SISI Spring 03; stamped using MdU 11.  Added image to accent nail using an image from Kelly Negri KN 2.

Added a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Decided to add a nail stud to the accent nail.  I thought about dotting the rest of the flowers but decided to leave them as they are.

Dots!

This is a simple bright and fun mani I created during the summer!

Started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales walls with accent of Funky Fingers Dark Knight (no pix as have shown before). Stamped using Funky Fingers Gesso and Dark Knight using an image from Cici & Sisi 12.

Added a few primary dots for colour interest.

Finished it off with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

This is what I love about stamping; a quick mani can look this cool in no time.  Well, cool to me anyway!

Hot Pink and Hearts!

One night last week, I sat down to do my nails but got sidetracked looking for images and ended up going through all my plates (I mean allllllllllllllllllllllllllllll my plates lol) . Anyone who has a number of plates knows that this can take some time! I like to go through them occasionally to set aside plates to potentially use for any themes or holidays, upcoming Digit-al Dozen challenges or special occasions or celebrations. Sometimes, I have an idea in my mind like a water scene for example so while I'm going through them, I pick out all plates that have water scened images and set them aside for when I finally decide to do that water scene mani.  Because, sometimes I have to be in the mood or have lots of time to do a particular theme or design or whatever so I have them ready for when the mood strikes! Stuff like this.  Sometimes I just discover a cool image that I had forgotten about and set it aside for the day I lack any inspiration to do anything special, or am pressed for time. Just makes it easier to look at a few plates when the time comes to do a mani versus a lot especially if you know in advance you are doing a Valentine's Day mani, for example. That way, there is a ready stash of plates set aside to use and only have to look through a stack of maybe 20 or 50 (or more depending on the theme) versus alllllllllllllllllllllllllllll of them. Usually when I'm on image missions like this, I go through one or two brands a night over a week or so, not all at once.  Well, this night, before I knew it, it was 2 am when I was finally ready to paint my nails. While I had removed my polish and prepped my nails in anticipation of doing them that night, when I realized it was 2 am, I quickly went to bed for a few hours of sleep versus staying up longer to complete my nails.  The next morning, I did this mani in half an hour before heading out to work (including taking pix for the blog; this is probably a 15 minute mani at best).  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Glam Polish Pink Ladies; this is no topcoat.

This is such a me colour; I could wear this every day of the week and twice on Sunday's! (I have a back up bottle of this, for sure!)  Top coated with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using assortment of plates; Bunny Nails HD-A (pinky), Bunny nails HD-B (ring), FUN 13 (middle), CICI & SISI 03 (index) and no name plate from Walmart (thumb) using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Finished with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

FUN 13

THIS is one of the things I love about stamping; while this isn't a particularly hard mani to do, it is great that you can get an interesting mani in no time flat!  I have often commented that it takes longer to pick out the plates and polishes then to do my nails (when I don't have a bunch set aside, that is...because I don't always!) and this is a good example of how fast it can be done when pressed for time....and props goes a long way to quick dry top coat which speeds things along considerably!
