Digit-al Dozen Does White; Day 3

This is a mani that I've had in archives for quite a while; it dates back to September 25, 2016!  I look at it now and I think, pret-ty cool, but in all honestly, the reason why it hasn't been shared is I really wasn't that happy with it at the time!  I do not like my nails in natural light; I never can get the angle just so and wasn't happy about my poor clean up on them but I dunno, they don't seem to bad now a year and a half or so later so I thought, I'm going to share them now!  This is my day 3 mani for the Digit-al Dozen white challenge!

Started with a base of two coats of Nubar Dusk Till Dawn, no top coat.

Did a sponged gradient with Nubar Dusk Till Dawn and OPI Keeping Suzy At Bay.

Top coated with Girly Bits What A Rush QD Top Coat.

Stamped using FunkyFingers Gesso using XY-L29 (acrylic plate).

Finished with a final coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD Top coat.

I GOT BIG DOTS AND I CANNOT LIE!

I love how these nails turned out; I did them for my birthday weekend last summer but they chipped and I ended up having to do them again last minute because no birthday girl wants chipped nails for her birthday weekend!  But they were cool while they lasted...to me anyway!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a quick layer base of Sinful Colors Wonder Mint.  As you can see by the application of the Girly Bits Border Patrol, I really didn't have plans to share this but took pictures anyway! 

Did a sponged gradient using Sinful Colors Wonder Mint and Zoya Breezi.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Stamped using acrylic plate XY-F14 using FF Gesso.

Finished with a final coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Blue month in support of Autism Awareness has almost ended; I don't think I will have a chance this weekend to do any more posts but will be doing one final autism related mani at month end.  It will be nice to share some other mani's that aren't blue although I still have oodles more to share at some point!  As most of these were archived mani's, I've been wearing a lot of colours this month that aren't blue so have plenty of mani's to share...and a couple hundred archived manis to share at some point!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  Whether you are spending time with the one that you love, or your Valentine is you, whatever you are doing, have a great day! 

I know the day can be just another day to a lot of people, but the holiday lover in me likes to do mani's for all the holidays so here is a final Valentine's Day mani!  Again, not very traditional but hopefully you like it! Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Different Dimension (Blue) Da Ba Dee, OPI The I's Have It and Rimmel Blue Eyed Girl.  Two coats except the Different Dimension which is three.

After wrapping the tips again on the glitter, added a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I had made stamper decals using accent nail polishes with images from XY-J27 (middle) and MJ JR-1 (thumb); stamped them directly on the nail.  Stamped image from MoYou Festive Collection-20 on thumb. And yes, the image was small enough and placed that I did manage to stamp the "s" in Valentine's but it's not obvious due to hand placement but it's there!

Did gradient stamping using Moyra SP05 and Funky Fingers Gesso using image from XY-B07 (acrylic plate) for index and ring.

Finished with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Purple Gradient!

It's the first day back after the long Civic weekend here in Ontario. Unfortunately, the weather was horrible for the most part.  It was a windy drive to cottage country and a lot of areas were under tornado warnings, in fact, two tornadoes did touch down in the Huntsville area from what I heard.  Then it was cold, rainy and overcast; not the best of weather overall.  But hey, at least it was time off from work and there was some relaxing time and it was a good weekend to do inside errands! I got highlights and a cut Saturday afternoon and ventured into the local Costco on Sunday; renewed my membership and bought my first Ottlight as I rely on natural outdoor lighting if I do my nails when I'm in cottage country, so this small desktop version hopefully will work well enough regardless of conditions outside or the time of day I do my nails!  It was $27.99 after a $10 discount, which I think is a decent price. People must have thought so, as I bought the very last one in the store!  Anyway, here's my first attempt using it!

Did a quick coat of polish using the lightest colour, Sinful Lie-lac, then did a sponged gradient using it, Sinful Tempest and Orly Indie TX.

 Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Stamped using XY-L13 (index and pinky) and XY-L17 on the rest of the fingers (these are both acrylic plates).  I wasn't that thrilled with the floral image as I think it covered the gradient too much and in hindsight, wished I had have just used the zigzag image on all nails, but hindsight is 20/20, as the saying goes.

Purple Radial Gradient

I'm having a lazy day at home; watching movies while surfing the net in between doing laundry!  An exciting life I lead, I know lol!

I did these nails late summer last year; please disregard the nasty cuticles and poor cleanup; I don't have good lighting and couldn't see that well!

Started with a base of two coats of Sinful Porcelain Matte Cheshire China, no top coat.

Added a coat of topcoat.

Did a radial gradient using same Sinful Cheshire China, China Glaze Boho Blues and Orly Indie TX..

Topped with top coat.

Stamped using XY-L26 acrylic plate using FunkyFingers Gesso.

Finished with a final coat of top coat.

Love it!!

Stamped Green Gradient

It's the Labour Day long weekend here in Canada and the last weekend before school starts next week. Uggggh; I do not look forward to having to get up early again.  As this post goes live, I'll be heading to the Kawartha's for the weekend; the hubs had to work Saturday morning so I decided to stay in town Friday night and will head there with him and DS2 after he finishes work.  

These are the nails I did last weekend in the Kawartha's; I had the rare luxury of being there alone so I cut down my nails and then did these!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Flower Nail Polish Thistle or What?, shown with no top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Did a sponged gradient using Flower Polish Good Bud-dy and Flower Polish Thistle or What?

Top coated before stamping.

Stamped using an image from acrylic plate XY-F12 using Funky Fingers Gesso.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.

Testing Out Acrylic Plates!

I had told myself that I wasn't going to do any more mani's when I was in cottage country because I've been having so many issues there that tick me off:  topcoat smearing, really poor cleanup and not the best lighting.   I'm rarely happy with the way they turn out so figured why bother.  Then I received my order of acrylic plates that I had ordered specifically to keep in cottage country so I can keep the rest of my plates at home and thought I would try them. This is what I did yesterday afternoon; not perfect by any means but I liked how they turned out and they look better IRL but still have top coat smear!  Grrrrrr!

Started with a base of two coats of Orly Lift The Veil; shown with no top coat.

Added a coat of Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC.

Did a radial gradient using Orly Lift the Veil, Orly Frolic and Essie Jewel in the Crown.

Sponge for the gradient; Orly Lift the Veil was very thin and a pretty pale colour so I did a big blob of it very last every time I reapplied the colours.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC before stamping.

Used an image from one of the acrylic plates, XY-F13.  Even with a clear jelly stamper, placement was not guaranteed!  Also, this jelly stamper was pretty hard so didn't hug my nail curves the best so placement at the sides was hit and miss.  Some I tried to line up again but not perfect by any means.  Used FunkyFingers Gesso as stamping polish.

This was me testing the image before use.  While I love how cheap these plates were, what I don't like is having to put them up to a light or a window to see what the images actually are.  As you can see (or is it, can't see?), you can't see any image on the plate very well.  I haven't done any reading up on use of these either; I used a plastic scraper as wasn't sure how my regular Konad metal edged one would work.  Also used pure acetone to get off plate and not really sure if this will affect the plates in the long term although there was no obvious distress to the acrylic plates for the times I did use it in cleaning off the plate.

Topped with Girly Bits What A Rush QD TC to finish.  Even though I waited about 10 minutes before top coating and it wasn't even that hot and humid, still had polish smear. Grrrr!
