In Memoriam to My Mother In Law

Shortly after New Year's, on January 5th, my mother-in-law passed away.  We had just seen her a few days before as we had taken her and my parents out for brunch on December 30th and she was doing well, and we were glad we had seen her before she passed as it was sudden and expected.  Today is her Celebration of Life and these nails are for her.

Started with a base of three coats of Essie The Fuchsia of Art, no top coat.  Even with three coats, this polish was pretty sheer.

Topped with a coat of Wildflower Lacquer Fairy Lights (PPU April 2020), no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from Moyra 118 Dream On using Painted Polish Blanc Slate, no topcoat.

Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

A lot of people complain about their mother in laws but I can't say I ever had any issues with mine.  We never had any issues and she wasn't in our business as so many times occurs...or so I hear lol.  She loved her family and was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, loved to play cards and dice and always had her nails done when she could get to the salon; just not in later years.  In fact, I stamped her nails a few times as did my daughter, who also gave her a few pedicures over the years.  Her and my husband were close, as she was with all her kids, and she will be missed.  Rest in peace.

Love Is…

I was searching through my Valentine's Day plates and seen the Love Is couple and thought they might make a cute Valentine's Day mani; here's what I came up with!

 Candy Skull R-020

Started with a coat of Cirque Hatch over a coat of Cupcake Polish White Pop, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using image from UberChic Love & Marriage 03 with accent nail of Candy Skull R-020 using Moyra SP. 02 and Painted Polish Midnight Mischief. The ring finger image was shrunk using the Moyra super sizing stamper.

Stamped words on thumb using same UberChic plate and added a heart at the cuticule and filled them in on the accent nail.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

The next morning, I remembered that the phrase for the cartoon couple is Love Is so added the extra word on the thumb using same UberChix plate.  I also had something unusual happen; on both black stamping images, the stamping polish smeared even though I used my regular go to Apipila non smear top coat before I added the KB tc, and I've never had that happen before so I need to figure out why as I use it to prevent smears and it didn't seem to work this time.  Never had it happen before so weird.  I hope I can figure it out. It wasn't noticeable on the nail, just in the pix, but annoying still the same.

Here's the cute cartoon couple.  Do you recognize it now?

Snowflakes!

I'm typing this, a big storm system is going through Southern Ontario and I hear the beeping of the snow removal truck on my street after several inches of snow have fallen in just a few hours.  So it's
a good time to  do a mani with some snowflakes while I watch it falling outside!  By the time of posting, the snowstorm has passed; thankfully, it wasn't as severe as the forecast but it was enough snow to make it miserable for driving.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI Big Bow Energy, no top coat.

Topped with a coat of Atomic Polish She's Got Electric Boobs! (PPU June 23).

Even though I sat the polish overnight upside down and then righted it about an hour before I was going to do my nails, all the glitter stuck to the side of the bottle, which is why there wasn't a lot on my nails.

While I really liked the shimmer in this, it didn't have enough glitter interest for me, so I looked around my stash for a clear polish with white glitter and decided to use Fancy Gloss Crushed Snow, no top coat and this was the what I was looking for.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Just WOW!

Stamped using image from Beauty Big Bang XL-032 using Painted Polish Blanc Slate.

Topped with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Atomic Polish She's Got Electric Boobs is a stunning polish.  As this was from Polish Pickup in June 2023, you'll need to watch for it on the resale market, or hope it is brought back during rewind month.  Maybeeee Atomic offers them on their site as a mystery polish which a lot of makers do, but I can't say for sure to check it out!  I checked, it is available so run and catch it while you can!

Be safe if you're in the snow zone and travelling this weekend!  Sorry for so many pictures but I can't pick some of them to delete so they'll have to stay.
