Earth Day Mani!

Yesterday's FB Adventures in Stamping challenge was Earth Day.  This is the mani I did for the challenge, which I thought I'd post today as it is Earth Day!

Started with a base of two coats of OPI Bride's Bouquet and Generation Baby Blue, topped with SV.

Stamped using assortment of plates; MJ III (recycle images on thumb using green Konad special polish), FUN 2 (world on thumb using blue Konad special polish), RA-115 (tree on index using green Konad and Kiko), W104 (middle image using blue, yellow and red Konad special polishes), SdP 75 (ring using blue Konad special polish) and CH33 (pinky, using Dashica green stamping polish).

Added a few images for filler; D15 (sun and clouds on  index), D16 (moon and stars on middle), T28 (butterfly on index and ring), SdP 74 (ladybug and bee on ring), W104 (butterflies on ring) all using assortment of Konad special polishes.  Also stamped in small flowers at bottom of tree on index using Mash-08.

Topped with SV.

Just to give you an idea of how many times this mani was stamped, there are nine individual stamps on the index finger, seven on the thumb, six on the index, and six on the middle.  The pinky was stamped once and if this is all added up, this mani was stamped a total of 29 times to create this look!

Finally Getting Around to Posting My Father's Day Mani

These are the nails I was wearing on Sunday, which was Father's Day.  Unfortunately, I'm late in publishing this post because I don't have reliable internet service on the weekends and by the time I got home on Sunday night to do the post and had reliable internet, I was was terribly ill.  Sicker than I've been in a long, long time.  Eye infection in both eyes, sore throat, dry hacky cough along with a  fever. I quickly posted a pix to FB AiS for the Sunday challenge being glitter (hence the small amount of glitter under Dad to make it challenge appropriate!) then headed off to bed to try to rest.  Four days later, I'm still not feeling the best, but did want to get this posted before it's so long after Father's Day it's not appropriate!

This is the tribute mani I did for my dear ol' Dad.

Polishes starting with thumb and working clockwise are SpaRitual Indigo, Billie Electric Blue, Essence Walk on Air, Maybelline Color Show Shocking Seas, and GOSH Limited Edition Attitude. While these aren't necessarily the colours I would have chosen if I was at home as they don't really go together that well, they are an assortment of blues I happen to have with my on the weekend and had to do.  I now keep a supply of random polishes, plates and nail supply stuff at my weekend place versus hauling everything back and forth every weekend and holiday like I did last year.

Added a coat of Essence Choose Me! on thumb.  It's more teal/green than the blue as seen in these pix...not sure why its not more colour accurate as the pix were taken in the natural, bright sunlight.

Stamped using white Konad special polish.  Plates used where CH28 (ties on middle finger), T40 (fish-doublestamped the reeds), SdP D14 (Dad banner), T28 (wolf), SdP 59 (bird), SdP 3 (leaf) and SdP 72 (coffee cup).  In addition to this being for Father's Day, hence the Dad and ties, the rest are tribute to my Dad.  He has love and fascination with nature and wildlife so added the wolf, bird and leaves.  I won't say how many t-shirts and sweat shirts that he has with wolves, loons, etc. on them!  Enjoys nothing better than sitting on his deck watching and listening to the birds around all the feeders he has placed.  Loves to fish and also has his scuba diving license.  (If only there was a scuba diver stamp!  Would be so cool on the thumb along with this stamping! ) And like me, has a love of coffee...in fact, the family joke is that my Dad's vehicle is on autopilot to drive into every Tim Horton's that he passes for a coffee and 10 Timbits.

Added a few random dots for colour interest and a bit of glitter in the Dad banner just to make it challenge appropriate for the AiS FB glitter mani challenge.

We took my parents out for brunch and had a great day later just lounging around the deck chatting with them.  In addition to brunch, we gave my Dad a card and a gift card...to Tim Hortons, of course!  My son also gave his grandpa the day off from cutting his grass as he did it for him, which was nice of him too.

Just for something to do, I took a pix of my quasi mani station at my weekend place which I thought I'd share.  Nothing high tech here....just newspaper down on the coffee table.  Looking at it now, it seems like an extraordinary amount of nail stuff so keep on hand just to do the odd mani on the weekend......lol!

My view while I do my nails.  I usually do my nails on the deck but with the humidity over the weekend, decided to stay indoors in an attempt not to have any polish challenges.  Even indoors has air conditioning and fan challenges but they were in the other room so I took my chances.

Thinking back now, I was OK when I seen my Dad on Sunday morning and afternoon and wasn't feeling ill until the evening...looking back, I hope I didn't give him another 'present'....my sickness....I'll have to call him soon to see how he's feeling. (edit:  I did give him a call Wednesday and he's feeling fine, no sickness....thank goodness!)

Happy Halloween!!!

The matte version of this mani is the one I'll be sporting for Halloween tonight while handing out candy to all the trick or treaters who come to my door.

Started with two coats of Misa Green with Envy.

Added one coat of Color Zone glitter (unnamed).

Decided to add french tips using Icing The Golden Age of Glitter. The last time I did them free hand, I wasn't that happy with the results (its a mani I never posted..yet!) so I decided to try taping them.

This is how they turned out. On the index finger, I crinkled the tape (and left it, not realizing it would matter) and a little bit of the glitter oozed under so its not a sharp line...I'll have to keep this in mind for the next time that the tape has be flat on the whole surface.

I didn't SV my tips at this point; just used the small end of the double stamper to place the stamping images. Used Konad black special polish. This is my left hand.

This is the right (this pix already has SV topcoat on).

After waiting a few minutes, added a coat of SV to the left hand. A great example of how black stamping polish *pops* with topcoat if you check it against the pix of the same hand above.

Used IP's D03 (skull, frankenstein face, large spider), BM209 (witches hat), T28 (ghost, cat, pumpkin) and A37 (fang lips).

I did this mani Saturday night; last night, I added a coat of Essie Matte About You.

Have a great Halloween...be safe if you're out with the Trick or Treaters...and don't eat too much candy if you're at home like me handing it out!

This Mani Has Gone to the Dogs!

How weird is it my new Big plates from Shirley finally arrived (stupid Canada Post mail strike!) and the first image I wanted to try out was the paw print plate! As soon as I seen it, I knew that my next mani would be themed around it and here's what I came up with.

Base coats are Misa Blush Hour with China Glaze Liquid Leather as accent.

Stamped using Konad black and white special polishes.

Images plates used were T28 (for dog faces) HB48 (for dog bones), HB014 (for two dog paws on pinky), SdP D-08 (for dog paw trail on thumb) and Big SdP D (for full nail of paws).

Happy Family Day!!

It's Family Day here in Ontario (aka, just an excuse to have a long weekend between New Year's and Easter)...so I thought I'd introduce my family....

My oldest son is 15, heavily into sports; my daughter is 13 and does dance, her nails and likes to hang around with her BFF's, my youngest son will be 11 in less than a month; he loves video games and swimming; then there's Mr. Rexy and I! Mr. Rexy loves the Leafs and beer and I love to do my nails!

Oh, and our family dog, Spike...you see him here in this picture....

Here's colours before stamping:

Polishes are all Essie, from ring finger-Lapis of Luxury, Lily Pond, Turquoise and Caicos, Barbuda Banana and Splash of Grenadine. Images Plates were fauxnad D, HB48, HB14, t28, T22 and T46, using Koand black special polish.

I hope you had a fantastic Monday...whether it was President's Day in US, Family Day in some provinces in Canada or just another Monday!

My Nails are Smiling....Literally!

I know a lot of the fall collections are starting to be released but I'm still thinking summer. Lots of time to wear those dark colours when the colder weather starts to roll in...so I wanted a nice and bright polish to compliment the beau-t-ful weather we have been experiencing!

(Images are clickable!)

This is OPI the "it" Color. This isn't over the top neon yellow or nothing, not even eye popping yellow, just a nice bright fun colour for summer. I have read lots about yellow being a difficult, streaky colour to apply but I didn't find that it all. I could have gotten away with two coats but did three as I didn't want to have any obvious VNL in my mani especially when taking pix.

Keeping in the theme of fun, stamped with black Konad special polish using fauxnad image plates m51 and T28. Lotsa fun! This mani brought some smiles from people as I was out and about shopping...for polishes, what else?.........doesn't it make your day when you get a nice compliment on your mani?

(This is one picture taken in artifical light in the weee hours of the morning.)
