Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year!

I know I'm a few days late but thought I would share them anyway!  No other time that a rat will be on my nails!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of OPI Black Onyx, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Sally Hansen Cherry Delight; all two coats, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I had premade a couple stamper decals for the index and middle fingers using Sugar Bubbles SB 043 and Maniology M083 respectively.  Also used MoYou Zodiac 13 (pinky and thumb), Maniology M044 (symbol on ring) and Maniology M083 again for the words on the ring finger.  Stamping polishes used are Konad red special polish, Painted Polish Midnight Mischief and Hit the Bottle To Have and to Gold including for the shadow stamping.

Added a few blossoms on the middle finger using Maniology M083, then topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Added a few dots for filler and interest using Konad red special polish and Hit the Bottle To Have and to Gold.

Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Snowflakes!

I've been doing a lot of snowflake mani's; so many plates that have so many different flake images so I've been trying to use as many as I can including some that I've had a while but hadn't peeled the plastic off of yet!  Here's one that I came up with not too long ago!

Started with a base of two coats of Zoya Walker, no top coat.

Topped with a light coat of Polished for Days Pixie Dust.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with images from Lina 4 Seasons-Winter 02 with accent nails of Messy Mansion MM55.

I have to admit; I haven't been a real fan of negative space images; I've done a few but not my preferred images for stamping, mainly as I think too much of the base colour is covered with stamping polish.  But I do have to admit, since I've done a few for the Digit-al Dozen space challenge (negative space, get it??!!), I've been reaching for them a bit more lately!  With the right image, the base can be highlighted as I think is the case with these two accent nails.

Pahlish Tone on Tone

I had planned on sharing Digit-al Dozen posts this week and actually did a few blog posts last weekend so I'd be ready for the challenge this week. But the group has put it off for a bit but I didn't have any other posts ready to share as I had worked on DD posts.  So sorry for not sharing in a few days but I thought I'd take time to do a quick post now!

It took me a bit to find a mani that wasn't blue or  with snowflakes...or blue with snowflakes.... as that seems to be what's been going on my nails lately.  Anyway, here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Pahlish Test Batch:  Fighting Fish, no top coat.

Topped with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped with an image from Apipila Super Placa H using MdU 78.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Now stay tuned for blue or snow or blue and snow nails; I'm sure they'll be shared soon!

Water Looking Nails!

We've had some nasty weather this weekend.  Well, not tornado, hurricane, tsunami nasty which would be so much worse, but rain, rain and more rain and just when it looks like it's going to stop, it rains a bit more.  Depending on where you are, it has also been freezing rain (so much worse than rain!) and even snow.  Our temperatures are going to drop and then all the rain is going to be ice which is going to be poor travelling weather.  Nasty but again, could be worse (tornado, hurricane, tsunami).  Anyway, I don't want to encourage the rain gods by doing a rain mani but here is a mani that I had in archives that somewhat looks like water so close enough to match the weather we've been having.  While I would rather be posting about this water mani from a beach in the Caribbean, looking at the pool of water in my back yard from it not being able to drain due to the ground due to it being frozen is close enough. Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of two coats of Glam Polish Can't Help Falling in Love, no top coat.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Did a stamped gradient using Mdu 42, 68 and FunkyFingers Gesso using an image from Big SdP B.

Topped with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I hear there are some really bad storms in parts of the US so regardless where you are out and about today, please stay safe!

Pac-Man Nails!

A couple months ago, Digit-al Dozen had a theme of games and while I had every intention of participating that month as I did have a few mani's done, life just got the better of me and I never was able to post them in time.  Couldn't do it just even a few days late; just had too much going on and had to sit out.  I *think* that month was the first time I haven't participated, although there are a few months that I'm one or two mani's short for the month.  Anyway, I did have this mani ready but just no time to share so thought I'd share it now.

Oh and speaking of Digit-al Dozen, the group is looking for new members!  You must be able to participate on a monthly basis, we do five mani's a month based on a theme that we have voted upon and you must have an active blog.  The great thing about the group (IMHO) is we have the monthly challenges and for me anyway, I find that I do some of my best nail art based on the challenges as I'm trying to keep up with all the other talent, plus there have been a lot of times when I've tried new things or a style of nail art that I wouldn't have done necessarily if not for participating in the group.  If this sounds like something you're interested in, please leave a message on this post, or message me via email or message any current member on IG, FB, etc.  Thanks so much!

Anyway,  here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of CND Creative Play Nocturne , three coats.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using MJ VII (thumb controller), Stampaholic 8 (Pac Man and words on thumb and pinky), and all other images are from Delaney Jeux Videos.  Used Mdu 11, 54, 68 and 107, Painted Polish Blanc Slate and FUN red stamping polish.  This is literally the only red stamping polish that shows up well over dark colours....I'm going to have to eek out every last drop of it as the bottle I have isn't very large.  Thankfully, I don't use it that often but I will be sad when it is finished.

Delaney Jeux Videos.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  Unfortunately, the FUN red didn't take too kindly to the top coat.

Please excuse nasty cuticle, but this was thumb on Ms. Cindy; I liked it better than the shared thumb.

The FUN stamping polish didn't react very well to the top coat so touched it up and then recoated.

Then tidied up the nails a bit; added yellow dots on middle fingere and some dotted eyes on the index and middle fingers using Painted Polish Blanc Slate and Midnight Mischief.  The FUN red stamping polish was still not liking the top coat so touched it up some more.

Did a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Team Canada Jr's Win Gold!

If you follow hockey at all, you'll know that the gold medal game for the World Jr. Hockey Tournament was on Sunday, with Canada winning the gold medal in a come-from-behind win over Russia with a score of 4-3!  I decided to do a mani that night to celebrate the win; this is what I came up with!

Started with a base of skittles using Scofflaw Just Another Candy Cane Polish Christmas 2013 on top of a quick base coat of Sally Hansen CSM Greyfetti, Sally Hansen CSM Cherry Delight and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Used a whole bunch of stamping plates for this one!  BM-XL157 (hockey sticks on thumb, image on pinky and lower image on ring finger), CjS-91 (middle), UC mini:  Soccer Love (medal on thumb), Apipila Super Placa G (index), Canadian Nail Fanatic 002 with Fig Tree Stamps (upper image on ring finger), and CjS-LC 08 (Canada words on sweater on middle, Canada on thumb and small accent maple leafs added in next picture).  Mainly used Konad red, and MdU 1 and 2.  The gold on the thumb is Hit The Bottle To Have and To Gold.

Clear Jelly Stamper CjS-91.

UberChic mini:  Soccer Love

BM-XL157

Added small maple leafs as filler and accent on a few nails.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Way to go, Team Canada!  Hopefully even if Canada wasn't the team you were cheering for, at least you could use this mani for inspiration for your favourite team!
