Seche Vite Instant Gel Effect Top Coat Review

One of the highlights of Indie Expo Canada 2017 was the polish making session.  I was lucky enough that the maker of the polish that I wanted to use as "inspiration" was in attendance at the session and was good enough to help me (er, I mean "make me") the polish (as best as she could with the supplies available).  I loved how it turned out and had been meaning to wear it well before now as the event was in June but too many polishes, not enough time! But I decided to use it not too long ago; here's what I came up with!

Started with two coats of Nearly Great Lakes Lacquer in Toronto, no top coat.  This polish was named by Pam of Girly Bits as, not only did I have no inspiration to make a polish all on my own, I could not come up with a name for the creation either!  This polish was created by Mariah of Great Lakes Lacquer, who had made a custom polish for Savannah of Addicted to Polish, who then agreed to allow the release of it in limited quantities.  I had seen it in a post on Instagram just before Indie Expo Canada and had tagged Mariah to ask if she was going to bring it for sale at Indie Expo Canada, only to find out it had been a limited release and was no longer available. Then I seen Mariah at the polish making session, I timidly approached her, showing a picture of her creation and asked if she would help with making a similar polish.  Mariah was very gracious and took immediately to the task to help recreate the polish with the supplies on hand.  Let's just say that my input in the process was to shake the bottle to mix everything up!

Topped with a coat of Seche Vite Instant Gel Effect Top Coat, received for review by Nail Polish Canada. One coat provided good coverage; the top coat was smooth, shiny and there were no application issues. Seche Vite Gel Effect Top Coat doesn't require any UV/LED lamp yet gives the effect of a gel top coat.  It dried fast and I didn't have any weird reaction with the polish; it played well with the base that I had on.

I wore this mani for 5 days which is like an eternity for me but I wanted to get a good feel for how well the Seche Vite Instant Gel Effect Top Coat held up and I'm pleased to report it did great!  This is day 5; there is still lots of shine and my polish was wearing well!

The only difference between day 1 and day 5 is the ever so slight tip wear which is pretty normal for me. Removal was a breeze; I used my regular Beauty Secrets acetone; there was no extra effort or soaking needed in removing the top coat.

I also used Seche Vite Gel Instant Effect Top Coat here with Picture Polish Alice.  Look at that shine!

Day 3

Day 5.  Again, just a bit of tip wear which is typical for me.  I will have to remember to top my mani with Seche Vite Gel Top Coat the next time I go on holiday as it held up well!

Nail Polish Canada has Seche Vite Gel Top Coat** on sale right now here as part of their Boxing Day sale! Now's the perfect time to stock up as it's on sale 35% off!

  1. Oh love the mani! I really like the gel top coat. I think I went through two bottles and would definitely buy it again if it was on sale. Mine did get thicker as it got lower but nothing a little thinner couldn't handle.
