I haven't done a magnetic mani in a long time but looking at this, I wonder why am I not doing them more often???! I received for review three Paint It Pretty Polish magnetics at Indie Expo Canada 2018. This is one of three polishes that I'll be sharing over the next few days from the collection of six magnetic polishes that Paint It Pretty Polish is releasing on Friday, July 20, 2018 here. This is Paint It Pretty Polish Magnetic Fields.
I had tried several magnets in test mani's as needed a refresher on how best to use a magnet in a mani as it has been a while since I've done one; I ultimately decided on a cat eye magnet. Started with a base of one coat of OPI Black Onyx. Applied one coat of Paint It Pretty Polish Magnetic Fields, then applied magnet close to the polish for maybe 30 seconds. I absolutely love how the purple flash concentrates although I didn't center the magnet for the cat eye look as well as I wanted but it still turned out pretty cool! There is a good scattering of holographic in the gray base; I used one coat of black so that the base would be a little darker to enhance the purple flash.
Same polish, same mani, different lighting. Note that I tested the polish on swatch sticks before I did this mani to come up with the look I liked best; I found that one coat of the magnetic polish was lots; if thicker coats were applied, it didn't necessarily get more of a flash, just more of a scattering of the holo look.
After picking an image that would highlight the magnetic polish well, decided to stamp using China Glaze OMG (original version) using an image from Apipila P.14. (My apologies, I just realized now that I am holding another one of the Paint It Pretty magnetics, Opposites Attract, in these pictures.)
