Valentine Roses

I didn't really do these nails for Valentine's Day, but rather, did them a while back and thought it would be a good time to share them now because roses and Valentines go hand in hand.  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Sinful Colors Tempest.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  I always top coat my base polish for gradients as I find otherwise, it lifts when it sponges.  Waited 10-15 minutes to do the sponged gradient.

Did a sponged gradient using Sinful Colors Tempest, Quo by Orly Hop, Skip and a Jump and L'Oreal Violet de Nuit.

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using UberChic 13-01 using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.

Topped with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top to finish.

Not Quite Roses

I had seen on instagram that @girlienails66 ( think it was) had posted about some great polish deal finds at Shoppers Drug Mart so I ventured into my local SDM to see what I could find and while I didn't get as good of a deal as her (she paid $3 for her polishes; mine were $5), I didn't do too badly.  Not that I need anymore polishes...but that's another story!  But I can never resist a good deal lol.  I did a mani later in the evening with them; here's what I came up with!

Did a sponged gradient using Quo by Orly X's and O'x, Quo by Orly Girly Girl and Quo Flashdry RSVP.  Who would have thought that would colours would have produced a decent looking gradient??  I actually really liked how it faded into the gradient; I think this might be a cool base for some Valentine's Day nails!

UC 26-01

Stamped using UberChic UC 26-01 using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.  They don't quite look like roses which would have been more appropriate for this colour but I had done rose nails not too long before that so didn't want to do something so similar shortly after.  But this is a pretty cool design anyway!

Finished with a final coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

I had a little polish drag which is so irritating even though I waited a bit to apply topcoat; I didn't have a pre-apply non-smear topcoat with me as I did these nails at my weekend place, but you an be sure I brought a bottle this weekend!

Thanks for looking!

Enjoy These Last Days of Summer Weather!

Southern Ontario is going through a little heat wave these last few days even though the first day of fall has come and gone!  Not that I'm complaining; we didn't have that great of a summer as it was cool and raining so much in the spring and early summer as well as unseasonably cool in late summer.  Anyway, not like we have any choice in the matter but I thought I would at least share these summer nails that I was sporting about a month ago!  Here's what I came up with!

Started with a base of Quo by Orly Femme Fatale, no top coat.  I love this colour; so bright and fun; it's the colour that I've wore on my toes most of the summer!  Yes, I try to take my own polish when I get a pedi so that I have it in case I need a touch up.  I also take my own quick dry top coat because they never, ever have quick dry tc at the salon and I can cut down dry time (plus am usually wearing sandals all summer long so my dry time is cut down substantially) so I keep this polish and a bottle of KBShimmer Clearly on Top in my purse.  I have a couple backups of this too because I love it so much!

Topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.

Stamped using images from MoYou Tropical 16 (middle), MoYou Tropical 06 (thumb), Lina 4 Seasons-Summer 03 (ring), Lina 4 Seasons-Summer 02 (image over words on ring) and Lina Feeling Shapely! 02 (index and pinky); used Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.

Thanks for looking...and enjoy this summer weather while we can!
